Chapter 98: Dim-hollow Crypt

Kel and the group continued to wander through the crypt. So far they only continued to encounter Vampire fledglings and reanimated skeleton warriors, both of which were easy to take care of.2

"Just how big is this place? I feel like we've been here a while" Aela pointed out in an unhappy tone.

"We've reached the first milestone." Kel answered while pointing at the next room. It was a large cavern with a lake at the bottom.

"Get your weapons ready" He instructed before rushing into the room. It was very bright so a head on fight was unavoidable.

As soon as Kel entered the room, several skeletons and a vampire appeared. It hissed at Kel before showing a sinister smile.

Kel returned a smile of his own before slightly shifting his head to the side. As he did this, an arrow flew past him and pierced the Vampire's heart at a frightening speed.

The vampire let out a screech of pain but Kel didn't allow for it to gain time to recover as he rushed forward and decapitated it using the sword wrapped in cloth he wielded.

As for the skeletons, Silvya froze their legs while Lydia and Aela shattered them using their blades.

"We're getting closer. Let's go." Kel instructed before directing the group to move on.

In the next room, they found signs of a struggle. On the floor one could see the bodies of large frostbite spiders and Ash.

"This place gets more and more disgusting the deeper we go" Lydia pointed out while covering her nose.

"Just means we're getting closer, come on let's go." Kel turned away from the bodies and instructed them to continue advancing.

As they were approaching the next cavern, they found a vampire standing at the entrance. Aela immediately drew her bow but Kel gestured her to stop.

"That vampire is leveled. Both you and Lydia need to aim for its legs. Silvya, launched a frost attack at its head....now!" Kel ordered slightly and the women nodded.

Aela and Lydia shout their arrows in perfect sync and pierced the vampire's legs. Silvya then stood and raised her hand towards the fire. That very instant a large block of ice formed on it's head as it fell to the ground squirming.

Kel then quickly approached it and pierced its body with his clothed weapon. It didn't take long after that for the body to begin turning into Ash.

Without needing to advance further, the group found out why the vampire was on guard. The next cavern had a few figures standing at its center. One figure was bloody and on his knees whilst two others were standing confidently.

"Lord Lokil, this poor fool still refuses to say anything. Let us kill him and be done with it already!" One the figures spoke in an irritated manner. Upon closer inspection, one could see the two figures standing were vampires.

"Patience my apprentice, it's been so long since I've toyed with a Vigilant of Stendarr, I'm going to enjoy every second of this haha" The older looking vampire addressed as Lokil laughed maniacally before turning the man below.

"I Vigilant Adauald refuse to become the plaything to a fowl creature such as yourself! Glory to Stendarr!" The man on his knees yelled out before he coughed out blood and collapsed to the ground.

"Tch. The bastard took precautions and killed himself. Oh well, might as well-"

Before Lord Lokil could finish his sentence, his senses caused him to turn rapidly and catch an arrow that was about to pierce his heart.

"Seems we have other brave mice who don't know their place. Come out and face me!" The vampire yelled out confidently.

"Fus Roh Dah!" Rather than someone emerging, a blast of air hit both the Vampire Lord and his Apprentice and sent them flying.

As they hit the wall. Numerous arrows pierced their bodies. The Lord grunted while the apprentice let out pained screams.

"Grr. I'll make you pay for that foolish mortal. Do you really think your puny arrows can bring an end to my glorious self? Heh just you wait" The Vampire threatened as his body began to heal at frightening pace. However...

"No. The arrows serve to only hold you in place. As for what will end your life..." Kel approached the cocky vampire and removed the cloth that wrapped his weapon. It was a sharp blade that gave off a frightening aura. Worse, the hilt had a spherical ball of light that looked like a small sun.

When this light touched the skin of the vampires, they both yelled out in pain as their bodies began to fall apart. The apprentice died easily whilst the Lord tried his best to regenerate faster than it was killing him.

"Pointless" Kel said before stabbing the sword into the vampire's chest.

"How..." the vampire muttered as it's body began to disintegrate.

"You guys go on ahead to the next room. I'll be there in a moment" Kel instructed and the women did as instructed.

"Now before the blade fully kills you, how about you tell me everything you know about Yorgen and what he's planning with Harkon" Kel crouched and asked with a serious look in his eyes.

"I-I don't know! Lord Harkon blessed that mortal with his blood and welcomed him into our ranks just because he could prove useful to the Lord!" The Vampire replied quickly while looking worried still.

'I suppose it's still too early for him to reveal his plans to members of his court' Kel thought before turning his attention back to the Vampire.
