The Old Physician Agreed

The old physician halted amidst his anxious steps when he heard Xi Ying's words. The first thought that had come to his mind after what Xi Ying had said was that he would leave this Manor. He would go somewhere far away.  1

He had not suffered for all these years silently in a small hut in vain. He suffered because he wanted to be alive. His master had sacrificed his life and saved him without revealing his name anywhere even under the sword. How could he die just like this! 

He needed to live a long life. 

However, after Xi Ying mentioned Rui, he suddenly couldn't say anything. 

The old physician sat down on the chair again a few moments later.

That girl, that small brat and unconsciously the child inside that girl's belly, he had formed an unconditional bond with them. Sometimes, he would think that it would have been great if he had married and had such a daughter. However, Rui seems to have filled that void in his life. 

"How can this old man save Rui by doing this?" 

He asked solemnly. 

Xi Ying smiled. Though it was just a tilt of the corner of his lips, he was smiling…because he appreciated the old physician's concern for his wife. 

Fortunately, his wife, who respected the old man so much, was not doing anything in vain. Because if the old physician had behaved otherwise then perhaps Xi Ying would have thought of killing him after completing his purpose. He didn't need selfish people around his wife and son in Xi Manor. 

There was already a lot he needed to punish for that. 

"You don't need to tell the truth in the Imperial Court. Twist the story a little."

Xi Ying finally told the old physician. When he saw the old physician's confused face, he continued

"You don't need to put the blame on Zhao Wang Lei. Instead, you need to turn everything against the Empress."

The old physician's nervous self calmed down a little. Though the power of Empress was not less as well but she was still inferior to an Emperor. 

And he seemed to have heard that the Empress' powers had decreased a lot after whatever happened in the banquet a few weeks ago. 

"This old man will do whatever you will say."

He started with a sombre expression on his face and Xi Ying nodded his head. He waved his hand as he said

"You can leave now. This Lord will call you again to tell you what exactly you need to do." 

The old man frowned, expressing his unhappiness clearly. 

"Did you just call me to ask if I will do it or not?"

"Yes."

When the old physician heard this, he tsked with an annoyed face and said 

"There was no need. You wasted so much of my time. How can I refuse to do anything for Rui…she is my idol."

The old man shook his head in annoyance again as he turned around to leave. 

Xi Ying ignored his chattering and picked the book he had been reading before.

The next morning, when Xi Ying went to the Imperial Court, he found that Zhao Zhang Wei was not present.

He frowned but walked to his seat quietly.

Even after Zhao Wang Lei had entered the Imperial Court, Zhao Zhang Wei never came. 

Xi Ying didn't doubt Zhao Zhang Wei. He knew that the prince was not a man who would step back from his words. 

He thought of going to the Xinhe Palace after the Imperial Assembly finished. 

Zhao Wang Lei also noticed the vacant seat and immediately asked Eunuch Wang to send an Imperial Guard and check on the second prince to see what was the matter. 

Zhao Zhuang Chen also looked confused. However, he didn't miss the opportunity to degrade Zhao Zhang Wei using this chance.     

"It is very irresponsible of Younger Brother not to attend the Imperial Assembly without sending his person to explain the reason behind this absence."

The ministers nodded their heads in agreement and Zhao Wang Lei didn't say anything. 

However, his emotionless face made Zhao Zhuang Chen think that he was not liking him talking badly about Zhao Zhang Wei, his dear son. 

SO the angry Zhao Zhuang Chen wanted to continue. However, just when he opened his mouth to speak, an Imperial Guard walked inside the Imperial Court and kneeled down at the center of the large hall.

"Your Majesty, Second Prince is outside the Imperial Court and wishes to enter."

Zhao Wang Lei frowned deeply and waved his hand as he said 

"Allow him to enter."

The Imperial Guard bowed his head again before he got up and left the Imperial Court. 

Soon, Zhao Zhang Wei entered the Imperial Court. However, today his head was not raised but lowered. And when he reached the center of the hall, he kneeled down in front of Zhao Wang Lei. 

"Greetings to Your Majesty."

His voice was also a little different..slightly hoarse. 

Everyone looked confused while Zhao Zhuang Chen chuckled suddenly

"Younger Brother doesn't need to apologize to Father Emperor just because he arrived late. Though it will be good if Younger Brother will wake up early in the morning and come at time in the future…right, Father Emperor?"

Zhao Wang Lei glared at Zhao Zhuang Chen who immediately shut his mouth …already expecting such a response. His heart was on fire because, in his eyes, Zhao Wang Leo was protecting Zhao Zhang Wei. 

However, it was something else in Zhao Wang Lei's eyes. He somehow was expecting that something was different about Zhao Zhang Wei today. 

And sure enough, the second prince soon raised his head and looked toward Zhao Zhuang Chen. 

Everyone was surprised when they focused their attention on his face. His eyes were red, his face was slightly pale and he looked very dispirited.

Xi Ying who had been sitting on his seat and watching all this silently, suddenly wanted to stand up and applaud Zhao Zhang Wei. 

He understood what Zhao Zhang Wei was trying to do. 

And he couldn't help but feel impressed by the way he had chosen to complete his part of the plan. 

This was the kind of partner he needed to get success in his plan.
