Master Guan
"Master, the profile you requested has been prepared." 2
A lone old man sat cross-legged at the edge of the cliff when a servant lady approached him from behind. She bowed her head deeply as if she didn't dare to look at her master until she received permission.
The whole place was like a fairy-tail, with lush greenery covering the whole mountain and the set of ancient style houses build at one of its cliffs. The view was simply breathtaking, displaying a vast valley and ancient city right in the middle of it. Any billionaire would pay millions to live in such a place but unfortunately, only one person could live there.
"Come closer child," the old man said in a profound voice. His eyes were still closed and he didn't move an inch aside from taking a deep breath.
Although his hair was already grey, he had a clean short haircut and perfectly trimmed beard. He wasn't like those old mentors who forgot how to take care of themselves in the search for achieving inner peace.
"Yes, Master."
Having the permission, she looked up and moved closer with files in her hands. She immediately regretted it, clutching them firmly to her chest. Despite being an ultimate warrior who would dash into battle with no fear, she had one weakness she couldn't seem to fight back.
A fear of heights.
"Are you still scared?" the old man asked while reaching out to the side, pointing at the training mat next to him. "Sit down."
Gulp.
The lady servant swallowed but still listened, approaching the edge. Although she didn't look down, her eyes staring at the sky, she knew very well how big of the drop the cliff had.
When she finally sat down, the old man commanded, "From today you will meditate at the edge of the mountain to fight your fears. One hour per day."
"Yes, Master."
There was no other answer but to agree. Was there anyone who wouldn't? There was only one man in the world that all experts and heads of multi-billion companies respected deeply.
Master of Guan Family.
Guan Dong was only representing him as the CEO of Guan businesses but anyone relevant to them knew the truth. To say the truth, they were happy Guan Dong managed the businesses else it would be impossible for them to cooperate. How could you strike a deal with a man you can't say 'No' to?
"Now, breathe deeply and calm down. If you drop, I will catch you," Master Guan instructed.
Lady servant started to sweat at the thought of dropping down but she followed the instructions and breathed deeply while closing her eyes. In just a few breathes, she managed to calm down a bit, trying to imagine herself sitting at the edge of the bed instead.
"Good. Well done," Master Guan praised. "Now pass me the files."
When lady servant opened her eyes once again, she felt much better, not thinking to much about the cliff anymore. She passed the files and began narrating about her findings.
"He named himself Chameleon but we knew it wasn't his real identity. His profile was too new and too clean. He only appeared a few weeks ago as if he never existed before. We began our own investigation and found out Miss Dongmei had another boyfriend she met inside the prison. His skills and abilities match the Chameleon too much so we suspect it's him."
"It is the same person," Master Guan interjected. "All he did was change his appearance and body. There is a Spirit named Devil Face and all his Ability Holders are called Chameleons. It's quite a powerful ability allowing you to get full control over your body."
"Tell me more about him," Master Guan added.
"It seems like Li Wuxing was framed into murder and Miss Dongmei believed him, pulling him out of the prison. She allowed him to live in her apartment and their relationship started at that time," lady servant continued. "He escaped the prison with her help and then faked his death by jumping into the sea with tens of bullets in his chest. Since then, he became a Chameleon."
"Alright, that's enough. As I look at his profile, he barely qualifies to be Dongmei's boyfriend. The fact he is an Ability Holder gives him a few bonus points. What about my granddaughter? Did Little Mei pass her Spirit onto her?" Master Guan asked curiously as he passed the files back.
"Yes. She reported she did," lady servant confirmed with a nod.
"Alright, I guess it's time to stretch my bones a bit."
Master Guan stood up and stretching his back. "Tell my wife we will depart after dinner. I want to meet that Wuxing and my granddaughter."
"Yes, Master."
Lady servant bowed and stepped back, knowing Master Guan wouldn't return home right away.
Swoosh!
He jumped off the cliff without hesitation. She waited calmly for a moment before she saw Master Guan launching in the air like a rocket, flames bursting out of his feet and palms.
Master Guan's Spirit gave him the mastery of fire, making him one of the most powerful experts in the world. Together with his wife who had the mastery of the water, barely anyone could stand a chance against them.
Up in the air, Master Guan was contemplating his options but he already decided on one.
'I guess it's time to win another Event. I can ask for more years to live. I am already getting old," Master Guan muttered in his mind.
His spirit replied right away. 'This year's event is a team battle with a maximum of five members.'
'Perfect. If this Wuxing is any good, we can add him to our team. It would be me, my wife, Dongmei, Wuxing, and Lady Elizabeth. No one would be able to face us,' Master Guan came out with a ready plan only to have it crushed by his Spirit.
'I think that will be hard. Your granddaughter already has a full team and Lady Elizabeth is one of her members. They also have Sandra and Maya, making their team quite stacked. They are rumored to be the strongest team right now.'
'What…? Lady Elizabeth joined them? How?' Master Guan didn't expect such a turn of events.
'From what I know, Lady Elizabeth's Host died so she connected with Miss Dongmei's friend, forcing herself to become part of their group. Their hosts seem to be all together in real life too,' The Spirit replied. 'If you want her, you will have to break their team apart.'
Master Guan hovered in the air and suddenly turned, flying back.
'I guess I have another reason to visit them.'
