A good solution!
Episode 277- A good solution!1
"But, it feels lonely. And the canteen did do us dirty by advertising like that." Ppa objected to Eugene's willingness to just ignore the current situation and move on. They have worked too hard to simply let this go! Besides, the difference between cooking for 150 and 50 people is really different. It felt lonely and quiet almost.
Eugene pursed her lips for a moment. Looking at everyone's expression Ppa included, everyone, didn't seem too happy to just let it slide.
She leaned back as she sipped on her tea, deep in thoughts.
"So you would rather get our customers back than continue as usual. Is that what everyone wants?" She asked.
"Preferably yes."
"Do you have a solution Eugeneia?" Asked Camille.
Eugene nodded.
Camille actually did not mind the current situation as it didn't matter to her whether they got back their customers or continue with just 50. It was mostly the boys who were passionate about matters regarding the number of customers. Eugene discussed her plans with everyone and it took one hour before they finished.
"What do you think?" she asked.
What does she mean what do we think? Of course, it was a well-thought-out plan. Many got goosebumps and could only nod and agree along with her plans. Eugene quickly left everyone to head to the art division. The art division was pleased to see their big boss back! The reason why they were happy was that they were paid for the things they design. The pay was not expected however was much appreciated.
"Good job. You did well." Eugene stretched her back as she gave everyone a small smile. The zombie-like art students smiled and waved at Eugene as they stayed back to finish Eugene's orders.
Eugene showered before heading to general studies for an exam that was pushed to the later evening due to scheduling conflicts. The exam was to relocate students to levels that fit their intelligence or pace. Not surprising, she saw Mark Ruclus and Ethan Docs sitting in Class S waiting for the Class S teacher
Though it wasn't the first time Eugene had met the two of them, it was the first time meeting them after the first week of school.
Eugene greeted them before taking her seat in front of them. The exam was fast, especially for the three of them. No one waited for each other and left separate ways to do their own things. Eugene didn't really have any class so she continued working on her plans for the re-opening of the restaurant. To execute her plans, she went around school putting up flyers with the help of the art students who completed the flyers in time.
After Eugene was done, she headed to Watt's room to hand him his set of instructions and left quickly to go source ingredients for the re-opening of her restaurant the next day.
The next day…
Eugene smiled as she tapped on the podium outside her restaurant. The sound of footsteps rushing toward her didn't surprise as her lips curved up into one of satisfaction. Her head raised as she greeted her customers with her professional cheerful voice.
"Good evening customer. How may I help you?" Eugene's smile never left her face even until the last customer reserved for their place to eat at the restaurant. After finishing up, she walked calmly back to the kitchen to a group of nervous children.
"Was the plan successful?? How many customers came?" Everyone gathered around Eugene, nervous, anxiety-ridden on their faces.
Aernest furrowed his eyebrows, "What do you mean if the plan was successful? Of course, it worked! This is my sister's plan, but most importantly do you not see her arrogant smirk?" He rolled his eyes in disappointment at his friends not trusting his sister.
'... arrogant.' Eugene pursed her lips.
Ignoring Aernest, Eugene responded,"We got back our customers, all 150 students." She announced.
Everyone gasped as a bright smile hit their faces!
"YES!" Ppa pumped his fists in the air as an overwhelming emotion of happiness came through him. This was what he wanted! MORE CUSTOMERS!
"We did it!" Watt's lips were also smiling as he held his palm to his beating heart.
Eugene nodded, "Well then let's start preparing!"
Different from the past two weeks, everyone began cooking without getting an order. Eugene watched as everyone set up food in the catering hall before heading to the front of the restaurant.
'And it's time.' Eugene glanced up and welcomed their customer.
"Welcome back to our restaurant. For fine dining, please head to the left, and for buffet dining, please head to your right."
That's right. From now on the restaurant was going to be separated into two sections. Fine dining was targeted toward Nobles or even commoners who wanted to eat good and quality food while the buffet was created and targeted solely for commoners. This was an even bigger advertisement than the school's canteen as customers can eat as much as they wanted until they were stuffed. This was a plan Eugene came up with to counter the school's canteen and the plan was finalized by the chef who decided on the food menu. Instead of having the students eat the same menu, everyone agreed to switch the menu up every two weeks.
The way the buffet operated was basically how the canteen operated except it was a buffet. This means you only pay once to eat as much as you want. It also operated without staff hence Eugene and the others only had to really focus on the fine dining. The only thing the kitchen people had to pay attention to was refilling the food which was basically no problem as they already cooked quite a lot.
The buffet as well as the fine dining did tremendously well and after another week, the noble girls who were not fond of Eugene even came to eat at the restaurant due to the raving reviews that spread throughout the school. After two weeks of the restaurant revamp, 10 people dressed in white clothing appeared in front of Eugene's restaurant.
The people in white looked worried and looked at the group of children in fear. Naturally, everyone knew who the old ladies were based on the way they were dressed.
'Uh… oh.' Ppa thought quietly. Did we piss them off?
Eugene silently watched the kitchen staff who were only employed during the morning and during the afternoon. Why? Because they only had noble girls from the first year as their customers.
Watt, Ppa, Aernest, and Camille waited for the kitchen staff to yell at them and condemn them for taking away their customers however instead what they got was staff kneeling down in a horizontal line as they begged for their lives.
"Please don't take away our job."
"We have nothing to do anymore!"
"We don't want to be fired!!"
The kitchen staff begged for their life as Eugene and her group stood there in a daze, confused at the situation. What happened to catfights? What happened to being shouted at?
"You're getting fired?" Eugene asked in shock. She did not expect this surprising situation.
One of the kitchen staff broke down "We do not know! However, we are aware that if this situation continues on, we will get fired!" She cried.
Eugene was in a deep thought. She never thought such a situation would occur, and never even dreamt of it when she opened her restaurant. The more she thought about this situation the darker her mood got.
"How long is the shelf life of your ingredients?" She inquired the staff.
"1 Day. We always cook with fresh ingredients."
Everyone's expression went to one of shock as they heard the answer from the staff. They never thought that a fun thing would impact a whole group this much.
The reason why Eugene began this restaurant was because she was bored and wanted to do something that would bring her profit. What she didn't know was how much her business would affect other businesses. That wasn't what she intended at all when she began her business and she especially didn't expect a lot of ingredients to be thrown away.
"We have a quota of ingredients we have to get. It is something we cannot change which means if Miss restaurant continues to run, the ingredients will continue to be thrown away."
Eugene guessed as so. She sighed softly as she turned to Watt, Ppa, Aernest, and Camille. There was silence before them before she turned back to the kitchen staff, "We will have a conversation with the principal regarding this. Please wait a while." The best way to resolve the situation was with the head of the school but of course, the opinion of her group was also as important as they began this business together. Even if it was just for one month, it was an existence that is very much precious to them.
"We have to decide quickly…" Eugene said softly, as she gazed upon everyone. "We have to think about whether we want to do this every other day in our school year or if we stop now and leave it as good memories."
