First year’s orientation!

Episode 278-First year's orientation!1

Eugene has been with everyone long enough to know and understand that they were tired. Their bodies moved in a sluggish way and their facial complexion couldn't hide their drowsiness and exhaustion from running the restaurant. Running and handling a restaurant is not easy especially for them since they are also in education.

When they first started out, everyone was happy despite being tired every day. Eugene has heard her former world colleague saying when you love something and have it as a job, you no longer enjoy it. That statement was very relatable to the situation right now and she couldn't help but sigh. This was not how she wanted everyone's memory of starting a business to end up with.

She could tell that everyone hesitated with the decision.

"There is no need for us to hesitate. This is not a duty we have to keep and not the reason why we began a restaurant. Besides, don't we all know now that cooking as a job isn't for us?" She poked straight at the spot that hurts, reminding everyone of how exhausted they are after closing the restaurant every other day.

"And you? Out of everyone here, you worked the hardest. You ran around doing this and that for us without a break." Camille looked Eugene in the eyes and spoke.

Eugene gave her a small smile, "I already got my profit and that's good enough. We made no loss and that is truly enough for me."

It didn't take long for everyone to reach an agreement and that was because they knew in their hearts what the right choice was. The conclusion was to close the restaurant. Watt, Ppa, Aernest, and Camille had a lot of fun cooking for everyone and were saddened that everything ended in 10 minutes. The goodbyes to their first business were, after all speedy. Just when everyone was about to immerse themself in regret and sadness, Eugene broke past their emotions. And that was her striking a deal with the Principal.

The deal was something that would save the nobles, and commoners from despair when they hear news of their restaurant closing. The deal was for the school's kitchen to upgrade their food recipes with theirs. The deal was something those in the kitchen and the principal were grateful for hence, they paid a lot for the recipes!

"Wow…" Watt was shocked at the amount of gold in front of the table. They had basically made enough profit for a noble to last one year which is equivalent to that of a commoner lasting their whole life with this amount of gold. 30% of the money is from the restaurant sales while the rest is from the copyright Eugene sold to the school!

Eugene was very satisfied with the outcome and was sure everyone would too. She divided the money equally to Watt, Ppa, Aernest, Camille, and herself after paying everyone who had helped them, even tipping them extra. The sadness from the restaurant closing was replaced with satisfaction and happiness of receiving a big amount of money. And that was their one-month journey of being an entrepreneur!

The aftermath of the closure was the students' one full week of mourning and protests for the restaurant to reopen only for their hopes and dreams to be crushed into dust when Eugene's group stayed silent. Even though the school lunches are now made with Watt, Ppa, Aernest, and Camille's recipes, the vibe of the food hall was just not the same! Just when everyone reverted back to doing their own thing, there was a sudden call for all first-years to gather! This would be the first time since the exam's result for class divisions.

Naturally, everyone was nervous and wondered why everyone was called when an old man walked straight to the podium and greeted. His Santa beard shook with every breath as he talked.

"Good morning students. It is nice to finally meet you." The old man began as he leaned on his crane. Through the gossip of people, present Eugene found out that he was apparently the head of their year which makes him the true homeroom teacher of their year. She kept her silence as she listened.

"I am here to announce that all first years will be going on an orientation trip next week. This trip will last 2 days, and you will be camping outside. This is to bring everyone closer together as a group as well as improve your relationships with one another. Everyone is to help each other and connect with one another."

'Orientation trip?' Eugene's eyebrow scrunched up a tiny bit. Shouldn't orientation trips be on the first or second day of school? Why two months after beginning school? Is it because the school's system differs from her former world?

Eugene turned to Camille whose eyes sparkled in happiness. Her lips couldn't help but curve before turning back to the old man. The hall was silent when suddenly a feminine voice spoke out,

"Camping? Does this mean we have to sleep outside sir?" The voice came from behind the classroom. Everyone didn't need to turn around to know that the person who spoke was someone of an aristocratic background. Who else would question if a camping trip means sleeping outside?

The old man did not show any expression before dutifully replying, "Yes. You will be sleeping outside." The moment he clarified was when all commotion began to erupt.

"How can we sleep outside?"

"Do you know who we are?"

"How can we go!"

Not surprisingly, the students who raised their voices were the aristocrats in the student assembly. Other than the nobles, no one said anything. The homeroom teacher in the end couldn't handle the loudness and loudly hit his crane on the floor. The impact of the crane hitting the floor was incredibly loud, loud enough for the students to shut up at once, not to mention Eugene's and Aernest's ears ringing painfully.

"Do you want to be penalized?" The old man's voice was no longer gentle but instead turned rough and scary. His one sentence shocked the aristocrats. It wasn't the students' place to ask who he was but instead ask themselves who they were in front of their teacher.

"This is something all first years do. If you do not comply, you will be penalized immediately and forced to repeat the first year." The homeroom teacher did not wait for a response and quickly stormed off in anger.

The assembly hall was naturally quiet as no one could utter a sound. Imagine someone screaming at a group of people with high origins. You would not dare talk. And just like this, everyone stayed in place and in silence until the bell rang to indicate it was time to head to the next class.

Eugene didn't have anything better to do so she followed Camille to her next class which was math class.

"What do you think of the orientation trip?" Asked Camille next to Eugene. Eugene turned around and thought for a moment,

"I don't know? Isn't it just a camping trip?" Eugene replied. She had felt excited when the homeroom teacher announced the trip but her excitement quickly dimmed when the aristocrats began to object to the trip.

"What about you?" Eugene asked, "What do you think about it?"

Camille held her pen against her bottom lips as if she was contemplating on something deeply. Unbeknownst to her, her body had betrayed her actions as her body quivered in excitement the moment Eugene asked her that question which made it obvious what her answer was going to be.

"It will be my first time experiencing such things!" replied Camille as her eyes sparkled.

Eugene only hummed in acknowledgment before turning away to the teacher who had now entered their class. At this moment, many students pulled up their notebooks as they concentrated heavily and seriously on the teacher.

Solve this linear equation ax + b = c, ax + by + c = 0, ax + by + cz + d = 0

Already students began to groan but they started to work their way with the numbers the teacher provided and put it in the equation the teacher gave them in order to reach the answer 0. This was elementary math for Eugene hence she didn't take any time at all and finished it fast. The teacher also noticed this, but didn't call her and instead gave the chance to struggling students.

Eugene did not copy any notes the whole glass but instead practiced the questions with others to pass through time. Now that she didn't have her business anymore, her hectic life was as still as water and she was only passing through time at this point.

After class was done, Eugene lingered around Camille for a while. This was when someone rushed to her, Eugene whose sense was very developed turned sharply behind her and stared at the person who flinched.
