I was confused. I had to ask, "You don't want the surname anymore? What do you mean?"

Mai Qi stated, "It means what it means! I don't want the surname, Mai anymore. I don't feel qualified to use my father's surname; I can't share my brother's surname because it's his mother's; I refuse to use the surname Mai anymore because I don't want to be her tools to compete for power!
