Someone stopped Jing Ning. Others called the police and ambulance. The scene was chaotic.1

I helped Gu Nian up and pulled down my scarf to cover his wound. I comforted him, "Gu Nian, you have to hang in there! The ambulance will be here soon! You have to hold on."

My hands were cold. My fingertips were shaking uncontrollably.

Gu Nian grabbed my hand and tried to smile. "Nanxing! Listen to me."

My hand paused for a moment, but I didn't say anything.

Gu Nian smiled. "Nanxing, even now, you're not willing to lie to me? I'm sorry for hurting you. I was too weak. I wanted too much, and I couldn't protect you..."

"Stop talking. Save your strength. The ambulance will be here soon," I whispered to him.

"Nanxing, what do I have to do to be the one to hold your hand in my next life?" Gu Nian sighed and closed his eyes.

"Gu Nian! Gu Nian! Wake up, don't sleep!" I shouted at him and slapped his face.

A strong force suddenly pushed me away. "Get lost! This is all your fault!" Lu Yan finally pounced to push me away.

I knelt on the ground and looked at the blood all over my hands. I looked at Lu Yan, who was crying on Gu Nian's body. I couldn't help feeling a great sense of grief.

I walked over on my knees and patted Gu Nian's face. "Gu Nian, wake up. Listen, you have to hang in there. I'm leaving this place. You can come and see me. We can be friends!"

Gu Nian closed his eyes. He was unconscious.

The ambulance arrived. The doctors and nurses arrived.

I was helped up and moved to the side.

I watched as Gu Nian was carried onto the stretcher. My heart was empty. Gu Nian never did me harm. On the contrary, he had helped me many times. However, I never thanked him properly. If anything, I had always been rude to him.

I knew he liked me. Even after I rejected him, even after Jing Tian warned him, he still liked me. I was never polite to him. He never got angry, even when I used him. He spoiled me and indulged me. It was not because he was afraid of Jing Tian. He respected me. But I never cared about him.

I was stunned for a moment before I reacted. I looked up and saw that Jing Ning had already been taken away by the police.

Su Qian walked through the crowd to me. "Nanxing."

She gave me a hug and accompanied me to the police station.

Before I got into the car, I said, "I'll go by myself. I need you to go to the hospital and wait for Gu Nian's news."

My tears fell for myself and for Gu Nian.

Su Qian nodded and hugged me again. "Don't be afraid. You'll be fine. The lawyer will go to the police station with you."

I wasn't afraid. I had nothing to be afraid of. I was just sad and helpless.
