We were instrumental in Lu Yan's current success. We were the ones who provided the opportunity for her to reconnect with the Gu Family. Even though our intentions weren't pure, we were trying to use her to combat Ye Qian, we had protected and helped her.2

We couldn't be blamed for her inability to flourish in the Gu Family. But she had turned on us. When I had no memory, she targeted me so harshly. So who could she blame? 

When I returned home, I went to look for Jing Tian directly. Mr. Li was also there.

Jing Tian was still sleeping soundly. His complexion was much better than yesterday.

"You're back so soon. Are you worried about him?" Mr. Li looked at me with a smile.

"Why would I be worried when you're here?" I replied. "But I need you to think of the way to cure his poison."

Mr. Li was stunned for a moment before he continued to smile. "Why did you change your mind? I saw that you were quite happy yesterday. Isn't it good to make him unable to leave you again?"

I answered him generously, "Yes. I did feel good about it yesterday. We are bound together. But now, I have second thoughts." I looked at Jing Tian's sleeping face with a smile. "We don't need poison to solidify our love. We won't betray each other. In fact, the poison will only be used by our enemies. So, help me cure it."

Mr. Li smiled. "Alright. Since you've thought this through, I'll help."

I suddenly understood and smiled. "You would have helped even if I didn't ask, right?"

He smiled but didn't say anything.

I asked him, "Why are you so good to us?"

His hands that had been fiddling with the bottles and jars all this while paused for a moment. He raised his eyes to look at me. "Perhaps it's fate. I find the two of you pleasing to the eye."

I smiled. "The smart ones are always the hardest to read."

Daisy knocked on the door and entered. "Miss, Mr. Gu Nian is here to see you."

I smiled. "Okay, send him in."

I changed my clothes and went to see Gu Nian.

He looked at me with a gentle gaze. "Nanxing."

I sat down opposite him and cut to the chase. "I taught Lu Yan a lesson at the nightclub because she dared to incite Angel to target me. Is that why you're here?"

Gu Nian's smile froze. "Nanxing, you... Remember everything?"

"Remember what?" I asked him back.

He pursed his lips. "Remember everything from the past?"

I shook my head. "That has nothing to do with the lesson I gave her. Even without my memory, I don't like her."

Gu Nian's gaze was fixed on my face.

I looked back at him indifferently. "I hate people who go around sowing discord. Plus, she is really not that good at it."

"Nanxing, what Lu Yan does has nothing to do with me. The only person I care about is you." He suddenly cut me off.

I couldn't respond.

Gu Nian sighed. "Nanxing, it's good that you're okay. I just came to see you."

He stood up to leave.

I was stunned.

"Gu Nian..." I called out to him, but I didn't know what to say.

Gu Nian turned around and smiled at me. "Nanxing, rest well."

He left, but I was stunned.

When I came back to my senses, I saw Jing Tian standing at the side door with his arms crossed and looking at me. There was a faint smile on his lips.

I hurried over. "You're awake? When did you wake up? Do you still feel uncomfortable anywhere? Did Mr. Li allow you to run around like this?" I shot a series of questions. Jing Tian reached out and pulled me into his arms. He hugged me and tightened his arms.
