Yun Bixue said, "Didn't I tell him not to come out? It's snowing so heavily now. Who knows how long he waited out here."2

Xie Limo gently said, "You must understand the heart of a father."

"That's true. Okay, I understand."

They stopped beside Su Lenghan. Xie Limo rolled down the car window and told him, "Get on, I'll send you back. Your hands must be freezing now. You can't carry Yangyang like this, right?"

Su Lenghan stared at Xie Limo with a look full of gratitude as he said, "Thank you."

Xie Limo nodded.

Men could just communicate with each other with a look and a few words.

Once Su Lenghan was seated at the backseat, he started giving Xie Limo directions on how to go to his house.

They turned in from the main road of the village and went around in a circle before stopping in front of a house at the eastern end.

Xie Limo parked the car and stretched his hands out to carry Yangyang as he got out of the car.

Yangyang kept giggling in Xie Limo's arms, as though she felt really happy.

Yun Bixue smiled. "Wow, Yangyang likes you a lot too. She's smiling more than when she smiled at me."

Su Lenghan finally relaxed when he saw Yangyang and started joking as well. "Yangyang likes good-looking people. It's true."

Yun Bixue grabbed Yangyang's small hand and said, "Wow, what a liking for looks you have for a little girl."

Su Lenghan invited Yun Bixue and Xie Limo enthusiastically to his house to eat. He said, "My parents have already prepared a meal. If you guys don't stay to eat, we will feel bad. Also, all the food here is grown in the wild. It's all organic."

Yun Bixue looked at Xie Limo for his opinion.

Xie Limo looked down and stared at Yangyang before looking at the beautiful countryside scenery. He really could not bear to leave just like this.

Furthermore, he could tell that he and Xue felt much better after leaving those treacherous and scheming environments.

Xie Limo said gently, "Alright, we will trouble you for a while."

Hearing Xie Limo's agreement, Su Lenghan was very happy. "Quick, come in. It's cold outside."

Yun Bixue looked up and scanned the surroundings. "The houses in the village are all like this now?"

Su Lenghan led them into the courtyard and said, "Yeah, the living conditions in the village are much better than before. Everyone in the village lives comfortably. Life in the countryside is pretty good too."

Once they entered the courtyard, they saw Father Su stoking the fire by the stove and Mother Su busying herself around in the house.

Once they saw them return, Mother Su quickly wiped her hands on her apron and walked to the courtyard. She had tears in her eyes as she stared at Yun Bixue and Xie Limo. "Thank you. Really, thank you so much."

Yun Bixue stared at Father Su and Mother Su in shock. She almost could not believe her eyes. The two people in front of her really looked like old uncles and aunties in the countryside. Half of their heads had turned white, and they wore really simple outfits as well.

Their complexion was healthy, and they seemed to be in excellent spirits.

Yun Bixue felt sentimental deep down. One's living environment could really change a person a lot.

After exchanging a few polite remarks, Mother Su said passionately, "Quick, quick, go in. It's cold outside. There's a hot stove in the house, so it will be warm even in winter. This is much better than the heater in the cities…" Mother Su suddenly seemed like a true country lady as she went on and on.

Su Lenghan took Yangyang into his arms and carried her as Yun Bixue and Xie Limo followed him into the house.

Once they entered the house, there were two kitchen stoves connected to the heatable brick beds of the two houses.

Yun Bixue saw the chicken, duck, and meat atop the stoves and wanted to help out as well.

Mother Su immediately waved her off and said, "You two should get on the brick beds to warm yourselves. Quick, get on the brick bed now. His dad and I can do this ourselves. Lenghan, attend to the guests. Serve the fine tea that they gave to your dad."
