C274 Pike
On the second day, the team was still divided into two groups. One group was left to guard, and the other was to forge weapons. One group was to go out to hunt zombies and collect resources.
After the group left, Lee Hu and the others gathered in the square to forge their weapons. Wang Yi finally had some time to relax and had some time to himself as he strolled around the prison.
Wang Yi had been in this prison for nearly half a month, and this was the first time that he had the time to take a look at this prison.
This prison didn't seem to be that big, but if one were to really go for a stroll, it would take at least an hour.
"I've only heard of people shopping. I think I'm the only one visiting the prison." Wang Yi laughed self-deprecatingly. This trip to the prison was really unprecedented. There probably wouldn't be many people coming here later on.
The prison had a total of two buildings, one cafeteria, one of which was where the team was currently staying, it was staff member's original dormitory and the place of work. As for the other slightly shorter building, it was the place where Triangular Eye and the others were previously staying.
Wang Yi slowly walked into the empty building. With his memory, he walked towards the room that he had killed Triangular Eye's group that night.
"Creak!"
Wang Yi pushed the door open and a stench immediately came out of the room.
"Ahem, Triangular Eye, this brat isn't good enough, why didn't he tell us to collect a corpse for all of you?" Wang Yi furrowed his brows as he looked at the six corpses lying on the bed. Some of them were decaying so fast that deep white bones could be seen on them. The green-yellow corpse water dripped off the heads of the corpses, forming quite a large puddle on the ground.
He didn't regret killing these few people. If it was possible, Wang Yi even wanted to kill Triangular Eye. If it was possible, then the prison wouldn't be surrounded by the zombies that Triangular Eye attracted, thus the team lost five brothers.
The second and third floor were filled with cells. Every few meters, there was a row of sturdy iron fences.
"I can use these things for a while." Wang Yi looked at the fence in front of him with interest.
He reached out his hand to grab one of them and pulled forcefully. Wang Yi took off the fence that seemed to be solid.
"Solid?" Wang Yi weighed the steel bar in his hand.
"If the troops are lacking weapons, then these steel bars can be used just in time." Wang Yi looked around. The entire corridor was made up of these iron bars, each of which was made up of 20 steel bars. There were roughly 200 steel bars on this floor, so Wang Yi didn't go up to check the number of steel bars on the third floor.
"Weapon!" Wang Yi's eyes suddenly lit up. These steel bars, if used well, would be no less dangerous than a machete for a zombie.
After half a day, the entire guard team started to move. According to Wang Yi's instructions, they removed all the fences in the prison that finally prevented the prisoners from escaping, and cut them into steel bars as tall as a person. They piled them up on the square.
"Huhu ~ Yi, Bro Yi, what do you want these things for?" Lee Hu put down the last bundle of steel bars on his shoulder. There were only about twenty of them, but they weighed a lot heavier than usual. Even Lee Hu couldn't hold it anymore and sat on the pile of steel bars, panting heavily.
"To make weapons." Wang Yi raised his eyebrows and casually threw Lee Hu a cigarette. In a while, you guys don't need to forge your machetes anymore. Go and sharpen all of the steel bars here with the cutting machine and the grinder. "
"Ah!" Lee Hu suddenly wailed.
"All of them, how long would it take?"
Looking at the pile of steel bars, Lee Hu almost cried.
"If I tell you to do it, then do it." Wang Yi grunted and picked up a steel bar.
"Let's do it this way. Cut the sides at a slanted angle and polish it a little."
Wang Yi made a knife with his palm and drew on one end of the steel bar.
Because there was only one cutting machine in the team, the speed at which the steel bars were being sharpened was not too fast. However, no matter how slow they were, it was only a few simple cuts.
Lee Hu operated the cutting machine while Zhang Cong, Liu Tie and the rest polished the steel bars that had been cut by Wu Tie. Each steel bar was processed and formed a pointed blade at one end, which was abnormally sharp, and could no longer be described as steel, this was the real Pike.
Throughout the afternoon, the sound of grinding echoed in the prison. The iron scraps from the steel bars had already covered Lee Hu's feet, and when the last cut was done, four to five hundred fresh Pike s were piled on the side.
"Bro Yi, I did it according to your requirements." After all, he had worked continuously for several hours. No matter how strong a person was, they would not be able to endure this kind of torture.
"Alright, thank you for your hard work." Wang Yi patted Lee Hu's shoulder, bent down to pick up a Pike, and carefully sized it up.2
This Pike was exceptionally rough. Other than its sharp blades, the body of the spear even had a few lances. However, it did not stop Wang Yi from repeatedly stroking it, as if he was stroking a woman's body.
"Bro Yi, you aren't planning on using this to fight zombies, are you?" Lee Hu took off his coat that looked like a screen from being burned by the fire. Seeing Wang Yi constantly caressing the so called Pike, he could not help but ask in confusion.
"This should not be easy to use, other than a little longer. How can a machete be easy to use?"
"Is that so?" Wang Yi smiled.
"Why don't we go out and give it a try?"
"Alright!" Lee Hu clapped his hands. He had wanted to know how powerful the thing that Wang Yi wanted to make was.
"Shen Hee, Zhang Cong, Liu Yang, the two of you come together. Let's go out and test the strength of this Pike."
Wang Yi called a few people, and brought along a dozen or so Pike and walked towards the outside of the prison.
Outside of the prison was an empty wasteland. When they came out, Wang Yi told Lee Hu to carry a few old oil drums that had fallen off the wall when they were attacked by the zombies.
"Bro Yi, that should be enough!"
Lee Hu walked out for over a hundred meters and shouted at Wang Yi and the others who were still standing under the fence.
"Far away!" Wang Yi gestured with the Pike and found that the distance was a bit too close.
"Ugh …" "Fine."
Lee Hu scratched his head. Although he knew what Wang Yi meant, that Pike was almost five to six catties heavy.
Lee Hu had also heard from chatting with Yang Ze and the other special forces that most of the grenades thrown by the troops were forty to fifty meters away. Furthermore, the weight of the grenades there was much worse than the Pike.
