At Hospital Imperial, DX was waiting nervously outside the operating theatre. Even though he wanted to go home and console Kai Xin who undoubtedly must be scared, it was important for him to present a front.0

He had no choice but to stay at the hospital for now. There were reporters waiting outside the hospital who wanted to get a juicy scoop on the story. The moment the news arrived at the stations, every major news channel sent their reporters to scout every hospital in the city.

If he was to leave now, the news would write horrible things about her. Even if he wanted to suppress it, he could only suppress those that Du Conglomerate had power on. Furthermore, there were too many people who saw and who undoubtedly took a lot of photos of the incident.

When DX tried to call Kai Xin, she was engaged in a call. Hence, he called Callum to check on the things back at home.

"The kids are in bed. Layla is staying over tonight to help out. I have added extra guards at all the doors and gates, but the reporters are in a frenzy and I'm not sure how long we can stave them off. I went through the surveillance cam but there was nothing that can proof that Song Qiao orchestrated her own accident."

Pinching his glabella, he sighed as he placed a set of instructions down for Callum.

"Just keep them as far away from her as possible. Threaten them with legal repercussions. Also, send someone to her apartment. I want her family and close friends to be guarded well. The orphanage as well. Make sure that nothing disrupts the children's life. It would only be a matter of time before they find out everything about her."

Callum who was on his laptop received an anonymous message and cursed softly.

"What's wrong?" asked DX.

"Erm, nothing I can't handle."

"Shenlong Xun."

Callum sighed. He knew that DX was warning him.

"I received an anonymous message saying that Kai Xin is injured."

DX jumped up from his seat as he asked nervously, "WHAT!"

"Don't worry! I'll go check on her! The sender said she hurt her feet so I'm sure she's fine...Mostly!"

Thinking back, DX realized that Kai Xin was limping slightly but he had dismissed it as a reaction from the shock. Cursing himself inwardly for his insensitivity, he told Callum to report back to him as soon as he tendered to her wounds.

When Callum was about to hang up, DX called out, "Callum..."

"What?"

"She's pregnant."

There was a loud bang followed by a loud curse.

When Callum heard the news, he did not pay attention to his surroundings and bumped into the wall. Groaning, he asked, "ARE YOU SERIOUS?!"

"Phillips would come over to do a thorough checkup on Kai Xin. I am sure that Director Song would use this incident to keep me by his daughter's side for a while. In case I can't be home, I need you to look after her for me. Her wellbeing is above everything else!"

"Yeah! Of course! Don't worry!"

After leaving a couple more instructions, DX hung up. Thinking that she might still be on the call, he quickly typed a message to her.

[ How are you feeling? I'm sorry I didn't notice about your feet earlier. ]

Shortly later, a reply came back.

[ I'm fine. How's Song Qiao? ]

[ Broken leg. Dr. Phillips is fixing her up but it shouldn't be permanent. ]

[ Good. Don't worry too much about me. I was a little scared earlier but I am fine now. ]

Still feeling uneasy, DX called her up and when she answered it immediately, he asked, "Are you sure you are alright?"

"I'm fine. I just stepped on some small shards from the broken crystal bowl. Don't worry too much about me. You have a lot more to handle now."

"I've told Callum what to do. Don't worry too much about your family and Jane."

"DX..."

Worried that something was wrong, he asked nervously, "Why? What's wrong?"

"Nothing. Relax!" laughed Kai Xin. Turning to sleep on her side, she said, "I just want to tell you how much I love you...and regarding Song Qiao...I have a plan of my own."

When he heard her voice, he knew that she wanted to do this on her own. With a smile, he said, "The entire Du Conglomerate including its President is yours to order around...Kara, no matter what you see or hear for the next few days, always remember that I love you...and tell our baby that I will see her soon..."
