Celebration Party

"I'm sorry Mimi. I can't do this anymore. You'll have to do everything on your own from now on. Goodbye."2

Abruptly, Mimi's eyes quiver open widely, her gaze darting around the ceiling confusingly. Slowly, she lifts herself up in her bed with bent knees. Faint uneven breaths escape her pale parted lips.

As Mimi ran a weak hand through her short hair, had realized she was sweating profoundly. Her entire body was pouring rapidly with pearls of sweat, from her clothes to her face.

Clenching her hands tightly, Mimi grits her teeth, her dim violet eyes staring down at her lap.

It was just a dream. Just a hazy memory.

However, no matter how many times she repeated those words inside her mind, the memories would instantly rush forward - soon taking over her train of thought as it overrode all her senses.

Recalling the tender smiling expression of Emily, and her the final words she said to her before her death, Mimi's eyes narrow, her lips quivering.

"I promise…" Mimi whispered hoarsely, her arms tightly hugging her knees.

"I promise."

The girl's figure weakly curled up into a small ball, her revealed pale shoulders trembling slightly.

I promise I'll avenge you.

…

Finally, the day of Glory Trade Corporation's employee celebration party came. Everyone had all gathered at a popular restaurant and reserved the top floor for the night.

Some employees had dressed casually while others dressed extravagantly.

Each department was given a reserved booth to eat and drink, as for the bill, the company as a congratulation, generously offered to pay for each departments bill.

Those who would even think to pass such a gracious and generous offer would have to either be an idiot or simply too sick to come.

All that could be said was none of the employees missed out on such a rare opportunity.

"Cheers!"

Clinking their beer jugs together, the group of employees from the tech department happily chugged down their beers with beaming faces.

All tech department employees including Senior Su, Jinny, and Eli Sato were all seated at a long wooden table covered with savory dishes of food and beer.

"Haha, well done everyone!" Eli chuckled with a beaming smile. "You've all truly deserved it for all of your hard work."

"Thank you, Mr. Sato!"

"It's all thanks to working for such an excellent company!"

As all the employees replied with kind words either in thanks or compliments towards the company and Eli, the aura surrounding the room was warm and harmonious.

Almost too harmonious…

A group of female employees scanned their keen eyes around the people seated at the table with observant gazes.

Once they realized the person they were searching for wasn't there, they immediately snickered.

"Seems like she really didn't show up." A female employee whispered gently to the woman beside her.

"Of course she wouldn't come. Who would be shameless enough to come to a celebration for those who worked hard when that person themselves did nothing. Moreover, she should presumably know by now how much everyone despises her."

"True. But Mr. Sato did personally invite her." The female employee muttered bitterly.

"Honestly, Mr. Sato is too nice. He is even kind towards an ungrateful brat like her. Who knows how many times she's taken advantage of his kindness when no one was looking." The second female employee sighed hopelessly.

Both nod their heads vigorously, not once noticing a certain someone beside them had overheard every word they said.

Senior Su with a calm expression leisurely drinks the cup of beer in her hand, however, her fierce grip on the cup had tightened unnoticeably.

As the night went by, not sight of the young gothic girl, Mimi, was seen.

"Hiccup!"

"Ah...Jinny, I think you've had enough to drink." An employee beside Jinny looked at her with furrowed brows.

"No, I haven't!" Jinny whined, her soft plump cheeks flushed.

"I think you should drink some water." The woman sighed helplessly.

"I don't need it," Jinny muttered. "I need to go to the bathroom."

Before the employee could say anything, Jinny had abruptly stood up from her seat to walk out of the private booth toward the restroom.

With rosy flushed cheeks, Jinny's small body wobbled through the restaurant's hallway, only to bump into a soft yet hard chest.

"Ah! S...Sorry, I didn't-" As Jinny was halfway through apologizing she choked on her words, her rosy cheeks flushing even further at the influential figure in front of her.

So...So handsome!
