Upholding A Husband's Duty

Yu Gangan opened her eyes wide as she stared at the man in front of her. If not for what he said, she would have thought that he was following her. Like a fan stalking a celebrity.1

The two of them were really close, so Yu Gangan could naturally smell the alcohol on Fang Zhihan's body. But, she remembered that he never drank alcohol when they went to eat together.

Fang Zhihan replied calmly, "It's my friend's birthday, so I came for a quick drink."

She didn't need him to explain that. He could drink as much as he wanted. Yu Gangan poked Fang Zhihan on the shoulder and nudged him away, "Please make way. My friends are waiting for me."

Fang Zhihan glanced at the basket in Yu Gangan's hands and moved aside.

As Yu Gangan went to pay, Fang Zhihan followed behind. But, just as she pulled out the bottle of alcohol from her basket, Fang Zhihan immediately grabbed it from her hands, "This is alcohol."

"It's not for me. It's for my senior."

Fang Zhihan handed the bottle back to Yu Gangan.

After the shop assistant scanned everything, she smiled and said, "That's 388 Yuan."

However, Yu Gangan was in no rush to pay. Instead, she turned to Fang Zhihan beside her and said, "You pay."

Fang Zhihan's gaze was deep as though he wanted to see into her heart, "My wallet is in my jacket."

"Go get it." Yu Gangan had already noticed that the man wasn't wearing his jacket, so she knew he didn't have his wallet and deliberately told him to pay so he would go get it and she could lose him.

"You pay."

Taking advantage of his height, Fang Zhihan patted Yu Gangan on the head.

"You always take advantage of me. You keep telling everyone that you're my husband. But, let me tell you, being a husband shouldn't be taken lightly. A husband should uphold his duties. Duties such as paying for his wife," Yu Gangan said unhappily.

"I'll pay you back double," Fang Zhihan replied generously.

"You haven't even paid your rent yet. How am I to know how long you'll brush me off for?" Yu Gangan waved her hand, gesturing for the man to fetch his wallet.

The shop assistant watched as the couple argued and said with a smile, "You can always pay using your phone..."

Yu Gangan immediately glared at the shop assistant, "..."

[Young lady, I don't actually want him to pay. Why are you trying to help?]

Fang Zhihan looked at the woman in seriousness and asked, "How?"

The shop assistant raised her eyebrows, "..."

Yu Gangan also opened her eyes with curiosity, "Don't you have WeChat?"

"Yes."

"That's all you need."

Fang Zhihan did not move. He honestly didn't understand how he was supposed to pay with WeChat. He barely used it. To him, it was like a decoration on his phone.

Yu Gangan was dumbfounded.

The shop assistant then said, "What about Alipay?"

Fang Zhihan didn't have that app.

The shop assistant stared helplessly at the sky: "..."

[Sorry, handsome, I can't help you.]

"If you can't pay then don't call yourself my husband again," Yu Gangan said as she opened the app on her phone and gave the shop assistant her QR code to scan.

She couldn't get rid of him. Since he couldn't pay and she couldn't get rid of him either, she decided to take the opportunity to shut him up forever.

After she paid the bill, Yu Gangan turned to leave. The shop assistant was going to bring the items to her room later.

But, just as she started walking, she felt Fang Zhihan tug on her shirt.

Yu Gangan took a few steps back and fell against Fang Zhihan's chest.

Fang Zhihan's long arms then wrapped around her neck as he pulled her into his embrace, "Where are you going?"

"I'm returning to my room. I need to keep my seniors company," Yu Gangan said as she tried to push the man away. But, her strength compared to Fang Zhihan's was like an ant trying to push over a tree; there was no effect whatsoever.

"Keep me company," the man requested unhappily beside her ear as his voice suddenly deepened.
