Yu Gangan was bored while sitting there. At that moment, she remembered how she had taken photo's of Uncle Zhang's medical records during her consultation with him the previous day, so she pulled out her phone and showed it to Fang Zhihan, "Let's stop talking about that. Let me show you something."1

After looking at the phone, Fang Zhihan pulled out his own phone and compared it with the prescription list he had.

There was no discrepancy, these were the only pills that Uncle Zhang took home.

Yu Gangan stopped the screen on a particular script, "Uncle Zhang said these were the instructions that the doctor gave him. As long as he took the pills on time, he would be able to eliminate the cancer in his body."

"What are these English characters?"

"The chemical name of an antibiotic," Yu Gangan replied. "I suspect that this is the medicine they've been giving to their patients. They've been supplying it as an antibiotic, but I believe it is an anticancer drug that is still being researched, and they are testing it on people before releasing it."

Fang Zhihan's eyes narrowed slightly, "I'll ask someone to investigate whether all the patients on your teacher's medical records have had cancer or have been diagnosed with cancer."

The sound of steady breathing drew Fang Zhihan's attention. He looked at her and gently brushed a loose hair behind her ear. He then lifted her in his arms and carried her to his room.

Yu Gangan was awakened by the sound of her phone. The person that was calling was Song Chabai. "Gangan, I will be coming to Beijing in a few days," she said excitedly.

"OK, I'll pick you up," Yu Gangan replied quietly in her half-sleeping state.

Song Chabai shook her head, "No need. I'll catch a taxi to the association to look for you."

"No, I'm not staying at the association. Give me a phone call in advance," Yu Gangan replied.

"If you're not staying at the association, then where are you staying? Did you move to Fang Zhihan's?" Song Chabai's voice turned high-pitched towards the end in a teasing manner.

"It's not what you think," Yu Gangan explained.

"Whatever. Don't tell me you don't like him. From what I know, you would never move in with him if you didn't like him."

This one phone call completely woke Yu Gangan up. She stared at the ceiling and carefully considered what Song Chabai said.

From as far as she could remember, in order not to disappoint her grandfather and to make herself more useful, she had placed all her time on studying medicine.

For her, strolling around, shopping, watching movies, traveling...and getting a boyfriend were all a waste of time.

Her idea of rest was collecting medicinal herbs with her grandfather in the countryside; she could learn while admiring the beauty of nature.

Thus, love and affection weren't areas in which she excelled.

She had many senior brothers, many male classmates, and many male patients, but only Fang Zhihan gave her a different feeling.

Yet, she couldn't explain how it was different.

She didn't know if this feeling meant she liked him.

Yu Gangan got up, washed her face, and ran into Fang Zhihan in the living room downstairs.

After seeing that she was awake, he gave her a bowl of congee. Yu Gangan sat down opposite him and started eating the congee as she asked, "Did your grandfather wake up last night?"

Fang Zhihan gently replied, "He woke up in the middle of the night and had some rice soup. Then, when he woke up this morning, he said he's hungry again, so he's currently having a bit of millet congee."
