108 The Mysterious Man Reappeared

Delia's POV 0

We waited near the Red Moon Pack for three days. During this time, the soldiers persisted in their drills, and the scouts relayed back information.

According to the reports, the rogue population within the Red Moon Pack was not substantial, and their organization was loose. If we were to launch an attack on the pack, there was a high probability of eliminating the rogues in one swift strike.

Three days later, Prince Kral dispatched the first wave of soldiers to fight the Red Moon Pack. As they set out, Prince Kral remained in his tent, issuing commands and directing the battle from there.

To avoid disturbing Kral, I refrained from going to his tent. However, our tents were close enough that I could hear the soldiers reporting to him.

After the soldiers had been on the move for a considerable time, I heard someone reporting, "Your Highness, our soldiers have achieved an initial victory!"

The word "victory" stirred excitement within me. The victory had come swiftly, indicating that we might soon eliminate all the rogues. My home could finally regain its tranquility.

"Very good. Have our soldiers captured the rogue leader?" I heard Prince Kral inquire.

"Not yet, Your Highness. The rogues are resisting. They're attempting to flee into the forest. But our soldiers are confident they'll eliminate them all!"

The soldier delivering the report exuded confidence that we would wipe out all the rogues, which eased my mind considerably.

Not just me, Prince Kral also breathed a sigh of relief. As dinner approached, he visited my tent, just like before, to dine together.

For the past few days, after dinner, Prince Kral would spend the night in my tent. Under the night sky, we embraced, kissed, and made love. I had assumed that with the onset of battle, he would have no mood to visit my tent anymore. But it turned out that victory came unexpectedly fast, and it seemed that he would spend tonight with me once again.

As anticipated, after dinner, Prince Kral cradled me in his lap. While kissing me, his hand found its way under my clothing.

However, just as we were passionately kissing, urgent footsteps suddenly approached our tent, followed by the anxious voice of a soldier, "Your Highness, there's an unexpected development!"

Upon hearing the soldier's voice, I immediately opened my eyes. Observing Prince Kral, I noticed the desire in his eyes quickly wane. He told me, "I'll return to my tent first," releasing me and leaving my tent.

Curious about the nature of the unexpected development, once Prince Kral left, I pressed my ear against the wall near his tent, straining to hear the soldiers' conversation.

"What's happening?" I heard Prince Kral ask.

"Your Highness, after our soldiers achieved victory and started pursuing the rogues to eradicate them completely, they chased the rogues into the forest. However, upon entering the forest, the soldiers become trapped within a powerful magic circle.

All those soldiers…" I heard the reporting soldier pause briefly before continuing, "died."

"Died?!" I heard Prince Kral's astonished voice. "None of them survived?"

"The magic circle was incredibly strong, and no one could break free."

"Oh my God!" Hearing the conversation between Prince Kral and the soldier, I covered my mouth in astonishment. I had thought attacking the rogues within the Red Moon Pack would be relatively simple, but on the first day of battle, Prince Kral had already suffered losses!

"Damn it!" I heard Prince Kral's voice, heavy with frustration, as he pounded on the table. "We fell into the rogue's trap!"

"Your Highness, what should we do next?"

"Immediately inform the soldiers to prepare. Tomorrow morning, I will personally lead the soldiers to attack those rogues!" I heard Prince Kral say with determination.

Realizing that Kral intended to personally lead the attack against the rogues, worry began to fill me. It appeared that the rogues were not without strategy.

They had already occupied the Red Moon pack, making Kral's decision quite risky.

However, given the circumstances, I could also understand why Kral had chosen to lead the battle himself.

I didn't sleep well the entire night. Early the next morning, just as the sky began to brighten, I heard movement coming from Prince Kral's tent. I immediately got up, dressed, and rushed out of my tent.

As I emerged from my tent, I coincidentally encountered Prince Kral emerging from his tent, fully armored. Clearly, he was prepared to lead the troops into battle.

I approached him and hugged him tightly, saying, "Your Highness, please take care and come back safely!"

"Delia, don't worry. I will return victorious," Kral reassured me, embracing me and planting a kiss on my forehead. He then instructed, "I will deal with those rogues as swiftly as possible. While you remain in the camp, ensure your safety. Don't leave your tent, understand?"

"Yes, I understand!" I nodded emphatically, making a promise to him.

We held each other for a moment before it was time for Kral and the soldiers to depart. I watched as he mounted his horse, leading the soldiers toward the direction of the Red Moon pack.

Once his figure disappeared from sight, I returned to my own tent. Inside, I silently prayed, hoping for Kral and the soldiers to achieve victory.

"Moon Goddess, please bless Prince Kral and the soldiers, allowing them to drive out the rogues from the Red Moon pack. I believe that evil cannot triumph over righteousness."

I continued to pray fervently to the Moon Goddess, not knowing how much time had passed. Suddenly, I heard an unusual voice ringing in my ears, "Delia, you're quite devout, aren't you?"

"Who's there?" I looked around cautiously, not spotting anyone nearby and hearing no footsteps outside my tent. "What do you want?"

"Delia, you've forgotten me so quickly. That hurts," the voice continued, "I thought someone like me, who took your pearl necklace, would remain unforgettable to you."

Hearing the words "pearl necklace," I immediately remembered the cloaked figure.

I had been trying to find him, to retrieve my necklace. However, before I could even find a way to approach him, he had taken the initiative to find me! But considering our previous interactions, would he so easily agree to return the necklace if I were to ask him? I wasn't entirely certain.

"What do you want?" I asked cautiously, "Do you want to return the necklace to me?"

"You could think of it that way, sure," the cloaked figure chuckled. His voice deepened, sounding increasingly mesmerizing, "Delia, I know you're eager for the necklace. I want you to accompany me somewhere."

Somewhere? Did he intend to lure me away from my tent?

Prince Kral had stationed many guards around my tent for my safety. As long as I remained in the tent, I wasn't in any immediate danger.

Leaving my tent based on the cloaked figure's persuasion didn't seem like a good idea.

"Why should I listen to you?" I didn't immediately agree to his request, instead countering, "What benefit would I gain from going with you to this place?"

"Delia, aren't you curious about the origin of that pearl necklace?" The cloaked figure didn't answer my question directly but continued, "Aren't you curious about your mother's story?"

Every word the cloaked figure spoke hit me hard. I was indeed curious about the pearl necklace's origin and my mother's story. His words began to sway my resolve. I fell silent, contemplating how best to respond to him.

"Delia, your necklace is something special. It's far from an ordinary necklace." Seeing my silence, the cloaked figure went on, "If you come with me to that place, you might uncover the mysteries you're curious about."

At this point, I had to admit that the cloaked figure was masterful at tempting the heart. Because of his words, I was nearly ready to leave with him immediately.

However, I retained a final shred of caution. I rummaged through my belongings in the tent and found a dagger, concealing it within my dress. Then, I said to the cloaked figure, "I can go with you, but where exactly are you leading me?"

"Delia, leave your tent. I will guide you," the figure replied.

Determined, I decided to heed the cloaked figure's words. I left my tent as he instructed. Once outside, I looked around but didn't spot the cloaked figure. However, his words continued to echo in my mind, guiding me in a particular direction.

Following the cloaked figure's instructions, I walked until I reached the shores of a lake...
