113 Meeting Kral
Delia's POV
Albert said he wanted me to witness the death of my fiancé. Could it be that he intends to harm Prince Kral?
The thought of Kral, who was perfectly healthy when he left the camp this morning, possibly turning into a lifeless corpse before my eyes within a day, sent shivers down my spine.
My physical strength was already insufficient to resist Albert, and after that chilling thought washed over me, I felt utterly powerless.
I was like unformed dough, easily manipulated by Albert's hands.
With minimal effort, Albert pulled me out of the pack house, and at its entrance, there was a carriage waiting.
As soon as Albert had me in tow, the soldiers driving the carriage promptly brought it to the front.
"Delia, get in," Albert guided me to the carriage and pointed towards the carriage compartment.
"You stay inside!"
At that moment, I was too weak to climb into the carriage by myself.
Moreover, as Albert led me away from the pack house, I regained some ability to think clearly. If I boarded that carriage, would I have to witness Albert kill Prince Kral with my own eyes?
Both my heart and body resisted vehemently, unwilling to witness such a scene.
"I won't get in the carriage!" I roared with every ounce of strength left in me. "No!"
"You don't have a choice!"
Seeing my refusal, Albert wasted no time. He signaled to the soldier at the carriage, and they opened the carriage door.
Then, Albert lifted me forcibly and placed me inside. Though I struggled with all my might, I was no match for Albert.
In no time, he had me squeezed into the carriage compartment. After shoving me inside, Albert closed the door. He said, "Stay quiet," and then I heard him jump off the carriage.
The carriage I was currently in had smaller windows than the previous one, allowing only a narrow gap to open.
I managed to open that gap and saw that another soldier had brought a horse.
Albert mounted the horse, and with a command from him, my carriage and his horse moved forward at the same pace.
Seeing that there was no chance to escape, I clenched my hands tightly, using my fingernails to puncture my palms, forcing myself to calm down. The pain in my hands helped me regain some clarity.
I recalled the report I had heard from Albert's attendant in the study just moments ago.
Albert's soldiers were guarding Prince Kral and the other soldiers, and without Albert's orders, they wouldn't take any action.
That meant, at least for now, Prince Kral was not in immediate danger. If I could come up with a plan along the route to see him, perhaps I could save him! I carefully reviewed the report I had heard, trying to find any clues.
Apart from Prince Kral falling into Albert's trap, there wasn't much useful information.
However, I suddenly remembered that the attendant referred to Albert as "Your Majesty."
That seemed unusual. Albert was a vampire, and they had their own nation. Although I didn't know the extent of it, being the king of the vampires indicated that Albert held considerable power.
Facing someone like Albert, who knew many secrets and was deeply enigmatic, I wasn't sure if I could defeat him alongside Prince Kral.
But regardless, I would try my best, and I wouldn't just sit back and wait. I believed Prince Kral shared my determination.
I continued to observe the outside environment through that small window. Soon, the carriage entered a deep forest, and the surroundings grew darker and more eerie, as if shrouded in magic.
Not long after, I saw Albert pull on the reins. After the horse stopped, he said, "Halt," and the soldier driving the carriage also brought it to a stop.
Albert dismounted and walked over to the carriage.
Soon, the door to the compartment opened, and I heard Albert say, "Delia, we have arrived at our destination. Get out."
Destination? This should be the place where Prince Kral and the soldiers were trapped! With this thought in mind, I immediately left the carriage.
As soon as my feet touched the ground, I began to look around, searching for Prince Kral.
Unfortunately, I didn't see Prince Kral's figure, only some well-trained rogues and vampires in uniforms patrolling. They appeared disciplined.
"Delia, I know you're eager to see your fiancé," as I scanned around, Albert walked up to me again, gripping my arm and nudging my elbow with his knee to force me forward.
"I'll take you to him now."
Albert led me on for quite a distance, and the chill around me grew even stronger.
I had a bad feeling about this and asked, "Albert, where is Prince Kral exactly?"
"He's, of course, within my magical circle," Albert answered with a smug tone. Then, he raised his chin. "Don't worry. You'll see him very soon. Look, he's right there—"
I followed Albert's upward gaze and spotted a massive circular magical circle. The circle was vivid crimson, like fresh blood.
Prince Kral, Alen, and the pack's soldiers were all trapped inside.
They were surrounded by a large group of rogues and vampires, as tightly guarded as could be.
Albert and I were at a higher vantage point. Through the layers of soldiers, I could see Prince Kral sitting on the ground, with Alen beside him.
Although they appeared weary, there was no immediate danger to their lives.
"Kral!"
Realizing that Kral was still alive, I immediately became excited. I called out his name loudly and tried to shake my arms vigorously, attempting to break free from Albert's control and run to him.
Seeing my intent to break free, Albert tightened his grip on my arms. He said, "Only I can take you to Kral," and then proceeded to lead me toward the magical circle.
Several soldiers followed us, clearing the way.
As Albert led me toward the magical circle, the soldiers surrounding it made way, leaving an unobstructed path ahead. There were only a few meters left, and I could get up close to Kral!
My heart raced with excitement, and I quickened my pace towards him. However, Albert suddenly slowed down.
He used one hand to hold both of my arms and the other hand reached into his pocket.
After rummaging for a moment, he pulled out a pearl necklace that looked very familiar to me.
Seeing that pearl necklace, I widened my eyes in surprise. Before I could say anything, Albert raised his hand and fastened the pearl necklace around my neck.
I finally had that pearl necklace again.
I was extremely moved, and I lowered my head to examine it closely. But before I could do so, Albert grabbed me and took big strides toward the magical circle.
With one more step, I would enter the circle.
"Delia, you should be thankful for this pearl necklace. It's because of its presence, linked to your mother's heart's blood," Albert said, without letting me do anything.
We now stood just outside the magical circle, and he looked at Prince Kral, saying, "That's why this magical circle is so powerful, powerful enough to trap your fiancé."
Albert's words left me wide-eyed. The pearl necklace had such a function? Did that mean I had become the cause of Prince Kral being trapped? 2
"Delia, I know what you're thinking, and rest assured, things will only get worse than you imagine," Albert sneered.
He gestured to the soldier beside him, who, as if by magic, produced a golden bow and arrow.
Albert took the bow and arrow, inspected them, and when he was satisfied, he tossed the bow and arrow into the magical circle, placing them in front of Kral.
Then, he spoke coldly, "Kral, I'll give you two choices. You can either choose to die within the magical circle, or you can choose to shoot an arrow through the pearl necklace on Delia's neck and trade Delia's life for yours!"
