117 We Have to Go

Vivian's POV

Reminded by Alice, I recalled that I had indeed experienced something similar when I was a child. I found a very cute puppy, and I liked it a lot.

On the day I brought it home, we had a wonderful time playing together. I even slept with it in my arms.

However, when I woke up the next day, the puppy was gone, and no one knew where it had disappeared. It had vanished from my life.

"Master, I remember that incident, but what does it have to do with my mate?" I asked, puzzled.

"What I want to convey is that the people or creatures who appear in your life are destined to be there. The connection you had with that puppy only lasted a day, but your mate is meant to be with you for a lifetime," Alice gently explained her reason for bringing up the story of the puppy. Her words eased my mood considerably.

"What's your mate's name, and how is your relationship progressing?"

"His name is Alen, and he's one of Prince Kral's most trusted subordinates, holding a high position in the pack," I told Alice about Alen's name and status.

Then, I remembered what the soldier had said that day while guarding the carriage, and my mood became heavy once again.

"However, his family is very conservative, and he has been engaged to a fiancée since childhood. Compared to her, I have no advantages at all, so I don't think anything could happen between us."

"Vivian, it's not quite appropriate to give up on your mate so easily," seeing my dejected expression, Alice pinched my cheek and said, "Vivian, you've grown up, and you can't be as willful as a child anymore. You have to learn to overcome difficulties in life on your own. Relationship challenges are just a part of life's difficulties, and you must learn to handle them."

"But this difficulty is too hard to handle. What should I do?"

My face was itching from Alice's pinching, and I dodged her hand, then asked.

"Smaller difficulties can be resolved quickly, and larger ones can be tackled gradually," Alice encouraged me when she saw my reluctance.

She released her grip on me and offered reassurance, "You need time to figure out what you truly want. During this process, I'll be there to assist you. However, you have to make your own decisions. I can only be a helper."

"Master, you're so kind!" With Alice's promise, I felt considerably relieved.

I hugged her again and continued to act spoiled.

"Oh dear, when will you truly grow up?" Alice sighed in exasperation as she indulged me with her words.

Hearing Alice's comment, I pondered when I would actually grow up.

Did I have to go through the trials of love to become a qualified witch?

Alice was not only a qualified witch, but also a highly authoritative one.

What kind of trials had she experienced to reach where she is today?

This question piqued my curiosity, and I let go of Alice, looking at her as I asked, "Master, since you mentioned that every witch needs to go through trials to grow, what kind of trials have you faced? Could you tell me?"

My question left Alice in silence, which caught me off guard.

I wanted to say something, but before I could speak, Alice voluntarily responded, "Vivian, you've asked a very good question. I've just thought about it, and the trials I've faced haven't ended yet. Moreover, more and more people have become involved, and I must deal with it now."

Alice's tone was casual, but I had a feeling that this matter wasn't as simple as she made it sound.

When she said "now," did it mean she had to handle it immediately?

"Master, where are you going to handle this trial?" I asked, "And is it right now? Immediately?"

"I'm going to the Red Moon pack, and yes, we're going right now. You're coming with me," Alice replied.

After speaking, Alice took a few steps back, creating a one-meter distance between us.

She chanted an incantation and drew a rune on the floor of my room, waiting for something to slowly manifest within the rune.

Normally, if my master asked me to join her on a task, I would unquestionably agree.

However, when she mentioned going to the Red Moon pack, I hesitated.

I had only recently left Alen, and now he was with Prince Kral attacking the Red Moon pack.

They were likely close to dealing with the rogues of the Red Moon pack.

If I were to go with Alice, I would inevitably run into Alen.

While Alice encouraged me to face difficulties and resolve them, I didn't think the complex emotional issues between Alen and me could be sorted out overnight.

I needed more time for reflection before deciding on the next steps.

"Master, I've just returned from near the Red Moon pack, and I'd rather not go there again," I tried to figure out how to refuse Alice's request.

I hesitated and said, "Perhaps you should go, and I can guide you..."

"Hush!" Before I could finish my sentence, Alice suddenly raised her hand to stop me from continuing. Her eyes remained fixed on the ground.

"This image appearing in the rune is quite strange."

I followed Alice's gaze and noticed that the rune displayed a vivid red color, as if it were covered in blood.

I had never seen such a rune before, and I was taken aback.

Both of us stared at the rune, and soon, the red color gradually dissipated, revealing the faces of Prince Kral and Alen within the rune.

Their expressions were filled with intense pain, as if they were bound by something and completely unable to break free.

"Oh my god!" I exclaimed in astonishment as I witnessed the scene.

"Master, those are the faces of Prince Kral and Alen. Have they gone through something terrible?"

"Is this your mate and that werewolf prince?"

Alice showed surprise upon hearing my words. "Judging by their expressions, it seemed like they'd endured torturous experiences beyond what ordinary people can bear. It looks even more serious than I anticipated. I must hurry to the Red Moon pack."

Seeing Alen's expression in the rune was agonizing, unlike anything I had ever seen from him.

My heart pounded with a desire to rush to his side immediately and find out what had happened.

"Master, I'll go with you!" I changed my mind and decided to accompany Alice in the search for Prince Kral and Alen.

"Let's go. We should leave right now!"

I had just returned from the vicinity of the Red Moon pack, so I was very familiar with the route. To expedite our journey, Alice and I each rode a horse.

We arrived near the Red Moon pack in half the time it had taken me alone.

Using her magical rune, Alice located the tent where Prince Kral and Alen were stationed. When we reached the tent, I noticed that there were fewer soldiers stationed nearby compared to a few days ago, but each of them was highly vigilant, subjecting all outsiders to strict scrutiny.

Fortunately, the soldier responsible for verifying identities recognized me.

I explained to him that Alice was my mentor, and we had come to assist Prince Kral and Alen.

He requested permission from his superior, and once it was granted, he personally escorted us towards Prince Kral's tent.

"Vivian, a few days ago, His Highness suffered severe injuries and has been recuperating in the tent," the soldier explained succinctly as we made our way. 1

"Alen was injured as well, but the medical officer with the team has been treating them. Alen's injuries are relatively minor. After regaining consciousness, he has been guarding His Highness and should be inside His Highness's tent. Once you enter the tent, you'll see Alen."

Hearing the soldier's report, I exchanged a quick glance with Alice.

It seemed that the prediction from the magical rune had been accurate. Both Prince Kral and Alen were injured.

Although we didn't have clear information about Prince Kral's condition at that point, the fact that Alen had awakened was promising.

I hoped to speak with him and find out what had happened. Moreover, given Alice's powerful abilities as a witch, she might be able to help revive Prince Kral if he was still unconscious.

The soldier led us to the front of Prince Kral's tent.

Before announcing our arrival, I glanced through a small window beside the tent's entrance. I noticed several people gathered around Prince Kral's bed inside.

The soldier advised, "Ladies, there are too many people inside the tent right now, and you won't be able to see His Royal Highness. Perhaps you could wait outside for a while until some of them come out."

"Alright, thank you," I replied to the soldier and he gave us a nod before departing.

Once the soldier left, Alice and I stood by the small window.

Just as I positioned myself there and before I could see who was inside the tent, I heard a familiar voice exclaim, "Your Highness, you're awake!"
