9 Mermaid
Sibyl’s POV
I was nervous about the lingerie Carol bought for me, but Nuri disappeared for the next few days.
To be precise, he lived in the army because he was busy with military affairs.
I let out a sigh of relief. I really don't know how to face him after what he did to me on our wedding night. Besides, I can't say no to that special lingerie Carol bought me.
I'm having a good time living in Rodriguez Castle these days. The servants of the Rodriguez family were as serious as their master, but they followed the rules of etiquette, and I didn't feel mistreated.
I looked around this room for me and Nuri. It was much larger than my room in the palace, but it was very empty. Except for some furniture made of precious wood, there are few decorations.
Well, a typical Knight's room.
Carol gave me a beautiful dresser decorated with Agate Gems. I hesitated and put it in the corner of the room.
Nuri's not gonna be mad, is he?
I quietly put some flowers in the room. Oh, this room looks much cozy.
Nuri wasn't at home, and I was rolling around in bed like a puppy, enjoying my private time and freedom.
I was now free from the Queen's Watch, and my husband, the iceberg, was away for the time being. This makes me so happy.
At noon I wake up from the Doze, lazily open my eyes, lying in bed to enjoy a rare comfortable time.
As summer approached, I felt a little hot from my nap. I looked around. The house was empty. There were only a few maids on duty outside.
At this time, Grandma Carol should be sleeping too, so no one will come to this room.
Oh, I'm sweating a lot. I want to wipe my body with a wet towel.
I closed a curtain in the corner of my bedroom, soaked my towel in rose water, and began to undress.
Oh, there's nothing like taking a bath on a hot day.
I even hummed a tune.
After wiping my body, I'm going to get dressed. When my hand touched the clothes hanging on the shelf, my clothes slipped out of the curtain.
Oh, I have to get my clothes, or I'll be standing here naked.
I whispered my maid's name: "Amy-Amy-please bring me my clothes."
A hand reached over and a person handed over my clothes.
"Thank you."
I began to dress.
Suddenly, I felt strange.
Amy is so quiet today, and she is not so tall.
Did someone come in?
I peeked out to see what was going on outside the curtain.
A serious face and a pair of furrowed brows.
Oh, my God. I quickly withdrew into the curtain, holding the clothes tightly in front of my chest.
When did he get back?
The room was silent for a moment, only the water in my hair was still falling.
He coughed softly and said in a displeased voice, “To be naked in the house during the day. That is your upbringing as a princess.”
How did he know I was naked? Did he see me?
I tried to keep my voice as calm as possible. "It's too hot today, and my sweat has ruined my makeup. I have tea with grandma this afternoon, so I decided to take a shower and meet her in a fresh manner."
I mentioned grandma on purpose so that he had no reason to scold me.
He snorted. "Hurry up and get dressed. We have visitors to the castle today."
As Mrs. Nuri Rodriguez, I'm supposed to be receiving guests.
Nuri turned and left the room. I quickly got dressed and followed him into the drawing-room.
There were not many people in the drawing-room. Grandma Carol sat in the middle, and Nuri sat beside her. Behind Nuri stood two men, one with a saber and a beard, who looked like a knight-in-chief. He didn't seem to like me and rolled his eyes at me when he saw me. The other man was in his late 50s and had a gentle manner, like a wise man. He smiled and nodded respectfully when he saw me.
These two men must be important in Nuri's army.
Carol asked me to sit next to her.
My seat was next to Nuri's and I could hear him breathing.
Nuri didn't look at me as if I didn't exist. He turned to the 50-year-old man and said, "Wayde, how's the divination going?"
Wayde replied, "Manolo is waiting outside."
"Oh, the mermaid Manolo?" Nuri's voice rose with surprise and delight.
Manolo. I did a quick mental search for the name. Oh, that Manolo, who is said to be the descendant of an ancient mermaid, who knows the astronomical calendar, astrology, and divination, is the most amazing person besides the witches.
However, he has always been a recluse, few people have seen what he looks like. Why would he want to be here today?
Curious, I leaned over and looked out the door.
Nuri glanced at me out of the corner of his eye, and I quickly returned to my demure sitting position.
Oh, this man's eyes are kind of scary.
I made a face quietly.
"Ask Manolo to come in."
A moment later, a young man in a blue-and-white robe came in.
My eyes lit up at the first sight of him.
Manolo is younger than I thought. He was a big man like Nuri, but was not very muscular and looked more like a gentleman than a soldier. His face was long and delicate, and his blue eyes were as charming as the sea. There was a black mole under the corner of his right eye, which gave him a melancholy and mysterious air.
I thought of the gentle prince in the Fairyland described in the book.
"Your Excellency, I am Manolo."
His voice is also very pleasant to listen to, like the sound of spring water flowing through the snow mountain.
Nuri said in a polite, dignified voice, "Thank you for coming. I have a favor to ask of you." 1
"You're looking for the Dragon Scale of the Golden Dragon, aren't you?"
"Yes. Although I killed the Golden Dragon, his most important Dragon Scale was lost."
Manolo nods, "The day Golden Dragon died, I was looking at the stars at night. The brightest star in the southwest dimmed but didn't go out, so I guess he lost his Dragon Scale. The Golden Dragon is the most famous. The scales on his body were golden yellow, but he had a special gold-like scale on his belly. This is the first scale that he has ever grown, and it brings all of his power together."
"So, if someone gets this dragon scale, he will probably get the same terrible power as the Dragon."
Manolo and Nuri looked into each other's eyes and understood each other.
“I must find this dragon scale,” Nuri said.
"I can help you," Manolo said, and then he looked at me, smiling and nodding.
I was puzzled, but I smiled and nodded back.
Manolo takes out an old bronze mirror and puts it on the table. "I'll see where the dragon scale is."
He pricked his finger with a silver needle and dropped a drop of blood on the bronze mirror, which immediately showed a faint golden light.
"This is the blood of the mermaid," Nuri said. "I thank you on behalf of the Rodriguez family."
I remember reading about it. Mermaid blood has a magical ability to predict, heal, and control people's minds. In addition, the Mermaid's tears are more precious things. Mermaids are creatures that don't cry. When a merman feels extremely sad, he weeps. Their tears are magic pearls. Unfortunately, the book does not mention the use of these pearls, because mermaids are almost extinct, and they have lost the ability to cry.
The light of the bronze mirror grew stronger and stronger, and it vibrated constantly. Suddenly, with a violent shake, the bronze mirror produced a crack.
The light is gone.
"So?" Asked Nuri.
Manolo stared at the bronze mirror for a few seconds. “The dragon scale is in the south, near a small town in the witch's Holy Land.”
"I see. Thank you."
Manolo smiled gently. “My wish is the same as you. We Don't want the Golden Dragon to appear again.” Manolo looked at me again. “I believe it is also the wish of Princess Sibyl.”
Everyone was looking at me, and although I wondered why he was suddenly talking to me, I nodded.
I do hate the Golden Dragon that has brought my country to war.
Manolo picked up a handkerchief and polished the bronze mirror. His hands were white, long, and beautiful.
I seem to have seen these hands somewhere.
I remember!
He is the mysterious man who reads and talks with me in the library.
“I've been wondering for days if you're Princess Sibyl.”
That was the last thing he said to me in the library.
He guessed who I was, and today I know who he is.
God is always joking.
