38 Deal
Azariah’s POV
When the door of the teahouse closed, I was so angry that I picked up the teapot on the table and threw it on the floor.
“Hell, she's only been Mrs. Hernandez for 10 days, and she's already trying to bully me.”
“Don't be angry, Your Excellency. I hear she is not doing well in the Hernandez family. Her husband is still looking for a mistress after marriage, and she has to serve her mother-in-law at home every day. She lives like a high-class maid.”
This sentence makes me feel much better. Unequal marriages always come with a price.
“When I marry Nuri, I will make her kneel before me.”
“You have always been superior to her.”
I feel like I have a headache from anger. I sat on the chair and took a deep breath to adjust my mood.
I touched my hair. It was a little messy.
“You go and get the gold comb and towel. I want to comb my hair.”
“Yes.” My maid left the room, leaving only a few at the door to keep me safe.
I sighed as the room became quiet.
If it had not been for the illness of Prince Doyle, Nuri might have issued an annulment.
This is an insult to me. I can imagine women getting together and laughing at me.
I think I made a compromise and I even allowed Sibyl to share my husband with me.
But Nuri was still enchanted by her.
What's so great about Sibyl? She is nothing but a thin, powerless princess. She is nothing like me.
I won't give up easily, I must get Nuri.
Suddenly, there was a chuckle in the room.
“Who's there?” I stood up and looked around warily.
“Come out or I'll burn the house down.” I clenched my fists.
It seemed to be a man's voice.
Why is there a man here?
“I've heard that Miss Windsor is a hot-tempered beauty, and today I finally meet you,” said a man as he stepped out of the darkness into the middle of the room.
I stared at him.
He was not a thief or a footman, for he wore silk that only nobles could wear and had a noble man's haircut. But he is not a man of high status. His clothes were light cyan and unpatterned, which meant he was the child of a concubine.
“Who are you?” I asked him.
He put his finger to his lips. “Shh, Keep your voice down. If people know you're alone in a room with me, your reputation will be ruined.”
“What are you doing?” I kept my distance.
“I don't mean any harm. It's so noisy in the yard today. I was going to take a nap here, but you barged into the room.”
“Mrs. Hernandez is having a party today. Are you a Hernandez?” I squint.
“Don't mention that woman. She is nothing but a wicked woman bent on power.” His eyes were full of disgust.
I was pleased with his assessment of Diana, and I was less wary of him.
I looked at him carefully. He was a tall and handsome man, but there was something in his eyes that I couldn't understand. He had no expression, so that one could not read his emotions and intentions.
“Don't tell anyone you've seen me.” I turned to leave, but a large hand reached out from behind me and pressed against the door, preventing me from opening it.
I've never been this close to a man. It's not social distance. I immediately backed away and became nervous.
He raised his hand to show that he didn't mean to offend me. “I just want to talk to you. Since we both hate the same person, why don't we help each other?”
“I don't know what you're talking about.”
“You know, Miss Windsor. Diana, she makes our lives difficult, so why don't we teach her a lesson?”
I think I know who he is.
I rolled my eyes at him. “You're Blayze Hernandez.”
I heard that when Diana got married, she advised her mother-in-law to get rid of the concubine's sons, especially Blayze Hernandez, who was the biggest threat to her husband.
Blayze Hernandez was born to a concubine, but he grew up very smart. He knew he could not succeed to the title and was hated by Mrs. Hernandez, so he had been searching for his way early on.
He won't give up any chance. Three years ago, he won the king's favor on a hunting trip and was promoted to chief security officer.
It was a simple but important post, because he could keep track of the king's safety and whereabouts.
Diana was afraid that he would take over the family, so she planned to kick him out before he was too strong.
I chuckled. Diana is such a stupid woman. Blayze is not an easy man to deal with. It would only bring bad luck for her to oppose him so blatantly.
“I know you're a smart woman. I like working with smart women.” He approached me slowly.
His approach made me uneasy.
“I'm not going to work with you.”
“What if I could grant you a wish, like marrying Nuri?” He smirked.
“He and I were already engaged.”
“Don't kid yourself. Did you know that Nuri punished a doctor in the palace the day before yesterday? He was so angry that he almost killed the doctor who refused to treat Doyle.”
“Enough! Stop it.”
He strode in front of me, one hand on my wrist. “Yesterday I went to the horse farm. I saw him teaching Doyle to ride. Princess Sibyl wiped their sweat. They were like a family.”
“Stop it,” I shouted.
“You must face the truth,” he said, stopping me from covering my ears. “Nuri has decided to protect Doyle. He will even accept a prince for Princess Sibyl. She is very important to him.”
I looked at him angrily, almost to tears.
“If you still want Nuri, you must think of a way. You cannot pray that Nuri will marry you because she loves you. He is now infatuated with his wife.”
“Don't beat around the bush, say what you think.” I feel weak now.
“Diana is a b.itch, but she's a very decisive person and you can consider her options.” 2
What? Get Pregnant?
“No, it's an insult to my family.”
“You don't need to get pregnant, you just need to convince everyone that Nuri is making out with you in a room. Then Nuri has to be responsible for you, and he can't fight against the rules of this world.”
I know what he means. In our country, women's chastity is very important. If a man kisses and caresses a woman, he will be asked to marry her.
I despise this rule, I think it is harmful to women, but it can really help me.
“When everyone asks Nuri to marry you, and even Princess Sibyl acquiesces, you can be the new Mrs. Rodriguez and then the Queen.”
I looked up at him in surprise.
Why did he know I was going to help Nuri become the King?
“Don't look at me like that,” he shrugged, “Everyone except the Fool knows that there will be a war between Nuri and the king. Don't worry, I'm on your team. I like the idea of Nuri overthrowing the royal family and building a new kingdom.”
“New kingdoms mean new rules,” I sneered.
He snapped his fingers, “Yes, new kingdoms mean new rules. I will help Nuri become the next king, and in exchange, I want to be the next duke. I'm fed up with the prejudice of the Hernandez family. I'm going to become a duke on my own.”
I looked at him with my head tilted.
Things got interesting.
“I'll think about it.”
He smirked. “You don't really have a choice today.”
He came up and put his arms around my waist. “What do you think would happen if someone found us hugging in the room?”
“Let me go.” I pushed his chest.
But he is so strong that I can't push him away.
“Many guests are drinking tea in a room on the other side of the garden. If they see us, you'll have to marry me.”
“You bastard.”
“Actually, marrying you can achieve my first goal, but it's hard to achieve the second one. I don't intend to force you. I just want to work with you. It's a win-win situation.”
The faint smell of sea salt on his body came into my nose, and I felt my face heat up.
This is a very decisive and very dangerous man.
He set a trap for me here today. I've fallen for it.
I stared at her, gritted my teeth, and said, “Deal.”
He let go of me with a smile and took a step back. “We are friends now. Please forgive my rudeness.”
I turned and ran out of the room. The man's eyes were too sharp for me to bear.
