49 I Saw A Secret

Manolo’s POV

I left the Witch's land at night. This time I didn't ask Dalena to make some predictions about my future, I just wanted to find out Sibyl's identity with her.

After walking out of the forest, my heart was still very excited.

My parents died the day I was born. I was a baby with my eyes still closed, and I didn't see my parents' faces when I cried. My grandfather embraced me with trembling hands, patted me gently, and then brought me up.

When I was born, mermaids almost died out, leaving only my grandpa and me. 100 years ago, we mermaids lived by the sea, like witches who have their own independent territory. But as the wars between nations spread and our territories were invaded, we had to come to human society and learn how to live like a human being.

However, God played a joke on me. The girl I spent the dark days with in the library, Sibyl. She's probably Raven's daughter.

I felt like a tree dying of thirst in the desert. I had accepted my fate and waited to die, but a heavy rain saved me and ignited my hope for life.

I silently recited the name, and an indescribable joy and expectation arose within me.

After walking some distance, I felt something was wrong.

Someone is following me.

I walked around a few streets on purpose. The mystery man is still following.

“Sibyl is Nuri's wife. Why do you care so much about her?” He asked me with a smile.

“Sibyl has nothing to do with you. Why do you care about her?” I asked him.

“No, no, no,” he approached me, “I'm not interested in her, I'm interested in Nuri. Although I only saw him for a short time last time, I sensed Nuri was nervous about her. I never expected Nuri would fall in love with a royal princess. It was so much fun. I didn't want to miss it.”

I looked at him, “I don't know what happened between you and Nuri. Sibyl is my friend, so I am going to help her find out who her mother is. If you are planning anything to hurt her, then you are my enemy.”

“Don't be so serious,” he said, patting me on the shoulder. “I don't want to hurt anyone.”

“Really?” I doubted his words. “Why were you stripped of your Rodriguez name five years ago? Why did you live in the south and not go back to the capital?”

He became serious. “Sometimes, not knowing something means safety. Please don't worry, I won't hurt anyone. If you refuse to cooperate with me, I can go to the capital by myself.”

He turned away and I stopped him. “I don't want to pry into your affairs, but please tell me, who is your target?”

He looked at me as if wondering if I could be trusted. A few seconds later, he uttered some words, “The King and Queen.”

I nodded. None of us spoke again.

Everyone has their own secrets, as long as he does not hurt Sibyl, I do not want to explore the secrets of others.

He smiled and left.

The night was quiet again.

Jovon’s POV

It's time to go back to the capital.

The king is very ill and dying. I don't think anyone can threaten me now.

From the last time I saw Nuri, I knew the Royals were dying. Nuri is no longer the naive teenager he was five years ago. After the death of his family and years of war, he was a strong man. He was strong enough to stand up to the royal family and even re-establish royal power.

If the Royal Campbell dies, I can go home. For 5 years, I stayed in the south, pretending to be a playboy, and never entered the capital.

Five years ago I was a minor, and I wasn't mature enough. If God had given me another choice, I would have left right away instead of being near that room.

I approached the house and heard a woman's frightened voice.

“Please, I am married. I have two sons. You are the king, and you can have many young women. Please let me go.”
