46 The Queen Trials

"Are you saying that Catherine and I are going to have a Queen's test in order to decide who the future queen is?" 2

After hearing Kral's story, he frowned deeply.

I understand that Kral's situation is not as easy as everyone understands. From the first day I arrived, the shadow of the royal family hung over my head, such as the mysterious killer of Bernice, the serious elders, and the hidden threats, including the curse of Kral.

These things are like thorns around Kral. As crown prince, he was not even free to announce the wedding. When he announced his future wife, he even had to show his sword against the elders and the nobles.

"Are you afraid, Delia?"

Kral came up to me. He lowered his head and brushed his long index finger across my furrowed brow. The slight warmth made me look up.

I looked up at his face and heard my voice say, “No, master, I know you have a plan. You won't let me risk my life unprepared. I trust you.”

Then I was surprised. Before I knew it, it was as if I had given Kral complete trust.

"Delia, you never let me down."

The sun was setting, and the last rays of light illuminated the windows beside the tables and chairs, reflecting two figures on the glass. Kral sighed and leaned over me. The familiar smell once again filled all my breath.

He pulled me into his arms and pulled my hair from my neck with his fingers. The heat of his breath made my ears red.

"Master... ?"

The words I was about to say were cut short by a sharp pain in the back of my neck. His sharp teeth cut through my soft skin. The smell of the Lycan prince coursed through my body. My body is suffused with a slight heat, and the broken arrow in my palm quietly falls on the carpet of the study, without a sound.

He bit me again. This time he almost marked me. But he didn't tell me why.

"OH." There was an unbearable hum in my throat, and I grabbed Kral by the arm and tugged at his sleeve. His cold, angular cufflinks left red marks on the palms of my hands.

“Delia,”

I leaned on Kral's chest, and he finally gave up a deeper bite and became gentle.

"The trials of the queen are not difficult. According to the royal rules, you need to go to a certain place and get the blessing of the Moon goddess so that you can become my queen."

Kral held me in his arms and ran his fingers through my long hair, letting it slip through his fingers as he spoke in my ear.

"The blessing of the moon goddess? What does that mean?"

"Didn't the elders tell you about it in class?" Kral suddenly remembered and chuckled. "I forgot. It was a long time ago. My mother told me about it."

I was keenly aware that when Kral mentioned his mother, his arms around me tightened unconsciously, as if he were afraid of something.

"So, what does it mean?" I felt a little uncomfortable being hugged and had to say something to interrupt his silence.

"First, you must be alone in the Land of Glory, the burial place of the royal ancestors. You pick a fresh flower from each gravestone. The next step is to let your wolf guide you through the Misty Swamp in the moonlight. Finally, you will take a boat across the lake to the palace of the Moon Goddess. Legend has it that if you are confirmed by the Moon goddess, she will guide you through the mist and greet you at the palace gate."

I listened, then asked blankly, "But how can I let my wolf guide me? You know, I don't……"

"Shh!" Kral put a hand over my mouth, blocking what I was about to say. His eyes went deep into mine. “Don't discuss secret topics outside our bedroom.”

His eyes darted out of the window and stopped somewhere I didn't know. I followed his line of sight to see, only to find the window screen blowing with the wind. The setting sun had completely sunk below the horizon. The palace maids lit candles in the long corridors of the palace. The darkness once again enveloped the earth.

"Don't worry, I'll figure it out."

Kral didn't look at me. He said faintly, as if everything was within his expectations.

Vivian's POV

The third time I took the Blackberry Candy from Alen, he finally grabbed my hand, which I couldn't take back.

"Ahhhh, it hurts, Alen, let go!" I shouted, closing my eyes and pretending to be in pain. In my experience, Alen would drop his hand in three seconds, and then I would run off with the candy.

"Vivian, give me back my candy." Alen didn't listen to me this time. I opened one eye and peeked at his face. His smiling eyes were tired, not as indulgent as usual, but with some serious.

"HMPH! Cheapskate!" I threw the candy to him unhappily. I'm a witch. I can eat anything I want. I don't want a little sugar.

... . ... but I really like this flavor of sugar. I looked all over the palace and I didn't find this kind of candy.

I sat down on the tree trunk and glared at Alen under the tree. I thought to myself: I wouldn't forgive Alen even if he gave me one of my favorite dark forest cakes!

"I hate you. I've decided not to be your friend today!"

My fingers flapped in the air, and the bare branches were instantly covered with new green leaves. They're blocking Alen's view of me. I don't want to see Alen today!

"Vivian, I really have something important to discuss with you this time. If you promise not to run after you take the candy, I can give it to you, okay?"

Alen rubbed his head like he had a headache. He sighed helplessly and looked up at me in the tree. But the leaves on the branches made him unable to see my face, so he could only coax me as good-natured as before.

"I only listen to Delia and Kral," I mentioned Kral's name unhappily. If it wasn't for Delia and keeping my promise, I wouldn't be here. I suddenly remembered that Kral was the Prince of Alen, and I shrugged my nose unhappily and shouted at him. "Alen, if you want a witch to do something for you, there's a price to pay, okay?"

“Okay, okay,”

I looked down quietly. His blue eyes were smiling again. "Three black forest cakes. Can you do something for me?"

"Wow."

Damn, the joy froze on my face. I didn't want to say yes, but he was willing to give me three pieces of Black Forest cake! Three!

"Well, you, what's the matter?" I stuck my head out of the branches, revealing my eyes among the green leaves.

"I heard that powerful witches can transform? As long as you have an accurate image of a person in your mind, you can transform into him or her, right?"

Alen shakes the candy in his hand. The colorful candy wrappers glowed seductively in his hands, and his face flashed a sly smile as he coaxed.
