48 You'll Be Sorry

Alen's pov

I watched Delia walk away with the men in black. Her white figure stood out in the black silhouette. In the plain, her skirt swayed like a lily in the wind, fragile and tough.

“Alen?”

A cry came from behind. When I looked back, it was Bud who had sent Catherine, another candidate for Queen of the Kral.

Looking at them, I felt a little strange, but I pressed the question and said hello to Catherine.

"Catherine, you're late." I kept my smile.

"To give someone a chance to win," she said, her red hair tied up and her proud, sharp eyebrows aggressive. "So what if I give her a step? The victory is mine, anyway."

She smiled scornfully and opened the carriage door. She was dressed in a black riding suit, and if she hadn't tied a white scarf to her hair, I would have thought she was on an outing.

"Catherine, now that you're here, I'm going back," Bud said in a cold, serious voice.

"What?" Catherine said, squinting her dark eyes. She stared at Bud, who unhappily picked up his riding crop and swung it through the air with a short crack.

Wow, I raised an eyebrow. Catherine hates it when people contradict her.

"You don't want me to come to the Queen's trial, do you? I remember you were willing to work for me before. Why have you changed your mind now?"

Catherine's questioning was like a knife to bud. But he did not dare to be angry with the elder William's adopted daughter or the future queen. He could only hold his anger in a daze, his face so dark that it almost melted into the night.

I laughed, and I was not going to stay and watch the play any longer. Who knows if Catherine will end up hating me too, and besides, there are people in the palace who are very anxious to hear from me.

"Excuse me, everyone." I smiled politely and turned away.

The carriage sped up slowly, and behind it came the faint sound of two people arguing.

I sat in the carriage and thought about when we were very young. When I was at school with His Royal Highness, Bud, and Catherine, Catherine was always mad at Bud, and she liked to wrestle with Kral, but she could never beat him.

After a while, I sighed silently when I saw the palace appear at the end of the road.

Catherine was always so competitive, but she didn't understand that she didn't deserve to be chosen to be queen. The prince had already made his decision.

……

"Is everything all right?" Vivian stared at me almost as soon as I entered the study. Her green eyes, always lovely, were now as oppressive as those of His Highness Kral.

I closed my eyes uncomfortably and said helplessly, "Your Highness, why don't you change back to your original face? I'm really not used to it."

“........"

"Okay." Vivian's lilting voice suddenly became low, and I opened my eyes again, and the familiar Kral appeared before me.

“I sent Delia to the gatekeepers myself, and they found nothing out of the ordinary,” I answered his highness directly.

"Good." Kral smiled.

"Your Highness, does Vivian's potion work?" I asked curiously as I looked at the empty glass bottle in his hand.

"She's got some real skills," Karal says, looking at the bottle, then at me, deadpan. "You have good taste."

"Me too. Lycan and the witch, that sounds good. The Moon goddess must have her reasons." I don't know what I'm looking at right now, but Kral rolls his eyes at me.

"Your Highness, Vivian has changed into your appearance and is waiting at the Moon Goddess's palace. Is it dangerous?" Although I have asked many times, I still want to confirm it again.

"She is safe. The gatekeepers have always lived in the Land of Glory, and they do not know me very well. They have some royal blood, but technically they're not royalty anymore," he scoffed, “The only Royals today are the elder William and myself.”

According to the rules, the prince could only wait for the winner in the Moon Goddess Palace. But Delia doesn't have a wolf, and the prince is worried that someone will kill her in the race, so he uses the potion to change Vivian's appearance, and then he will protect Delia.

"Ding." Prince Kral's face changed when the bell in his arms rang. "Delia is in danger," he said in a cold voice.

"I understand. I'll take care of things here."

"Stick to the plan," Prince Kral whispered as he pulled out Vivian's gray robe and put it on. The next second, he disappeared into the room.

"Wow, that's impressive." I looked at the liquid in the bottle and remembered the look on Vivian's face when she gave me the potion. "It only works for one night."

Vivian is clearly an adult, but her character is more lovely and innocent than children. Her aquamarine eyes were more charming than jewels. I chuckled. Damn, I miss her now.

Delia's pov

I struggled to get up from the pit. The lantern was carefully protected in my palm, so it didn't break. I looked around by candlelight. It was so small and deep that I couldn't even stretch my arms. There were big bricks on the wall all around me.

"Hello?" I swallowed nervously and asked in a trembling voice.

A breeze. The candle burned quietly, but there was no response.

I gritted my teeth and heard my own echo at the bottom of the pit. I touched myself all over, not a scratch on my body, as if I had accidentally fallen into a well. I touched the walls on all sides. The bricks were smooth and cold.

After I made sure there were no exits around, I looked up. There was only a small square cut above the pit. The sky did not look any different from before. A few sparse stars hung on the dark black sky, and there was not a trace of moonlight.

I had to climb up, I guess.

Fortunately, my hemline is long but not a problem. I hung the lantern at my waist, counted the spacing of the bricks on the wall, carefully grasped the gaps with the tips of my fingers, and climbed up step by step.

Does the queen have to be a climber? With all my strength, the idea flashed through my mind until my right index finger finally touched the top brick.

I almost succeeded. I encouraged myself in my heart.

"Hello again, Delila."

A familiar female voice came. I looked up in surprise and saw red hair.

Catherine?

She was dressed in black, not in the Queen's style Susanna had requested. Only the white scarf tied around her ponytail showed some future Queen's manners.

"Why... are you here?" I asked, a little embarrassed.

I didn't like it. I was crawling out of the hole, and Catherine was squatting at the exit, looking at me gloatingly.

"Why can't I be here?" Catherine said sarcastically, raising her eyebrows and looking at me with dark eyes. "Didn't Kral tell you? I'm one of the candidates for the trial."

"Delia, I've never seen anyone as dumb as you. You fell into a pit." She laughed, crossed her arms, and stood up again. She circled the exit, admiring my posture from above.

"So what?" I stared at her.

Maybe I was provoked by her. I gritted my teeth and pushed myself up with my hands. I pushed my knees against the wall, rolled over and stepped out of the pit, then immediately kept Catherine at a distance.

I quickly scanned the landscape out of the corner of my eye. It was not the same plain as I had thought. Instead, it was more like a valley I'd never seen before.

I haven't forgotten the way Catherine pointed an arrow at me. Therefore, I dare not completely relax my vigilance against her. Under the present circumstances, if she were to point an arrow at me again, I dare not say I would have the possibility of self-defense.

"Delia, I actually like you. So if I were you, I'd be wise to quit the trial. After all, there's no shame in losing to me."

Catherine saw that I was trying to keep her at arm's length. Her face is still beautiful. With her chin raised, she approached me with steady steps. I stepped back until I stepped at the entrance to the pit. There is no retreat for me. 0

"I'm not you, so I'm not quitting."

Under her domineering gaze, I steadied myself and blurted out.

“Well, you'll be sorry,” Catherine said with a scornful smile.
