57 She Is My Mom

"I was bleeding on my calf, and my blood was dripping on your baby teeth that were tied to my ankle. That's why your parents recognized me. If it wasn't for Lancaster, I would have already arrived at my destination."

I whispered in his ear, straightened my skirt, and showed him my calves. Kral held me in silence and sat quietly, pressing a kiss on my forehead with his mouth.

"Yes, I'll thank them for that."

As we spoke, the boat slowly reached the shore.

The pale mist opened and we saw a mass of silvery-white flowers. They lay on the shore. There was also an indescribable scent of flowers in the air, like the spice of a mother's body, mixed with ease and comfort.

Kral took my hand and we left the boat. As soon as I set foot on the land of flowers, the two golden lilies in my arms floated in the air, guiding us as we walked.

"Follow me," Kral said quickly, gripping my hand and staring intently at the floating golden lilies. I followed carefully, looking at those sparkling white transparent flowers.

There is no danger to the road, not even a single tree. As far as the eye could see, there were lots of flowers. Guided by the lilies, we soon saw a white building with a pointed top.

“This is... The Palace of the moon goddess?” I looked at the building in front of me and asked incredulously.

Werewolves have always been described by humans as aggressive, suspicious, and cunning. That's how we think of ourselves sometimes. But the palace of the Moon goddess, worshipped by all werewolves, turned out to be a modest, beautiful, simple cabin without the slightest hint of ostentation.

In front of the cabin there was a road piled up with glowing stones. We stepped on the pebbles. As we walked, the stones lit up in a blue light.

GoldenlLilies stood in front of the closed door. They swayed in the air a few times, the golden petals fell down and turned into two golden wolves. They rubbed their heads at Kral's and my feet a few times, then rushed straight into the door, which opened wide.

A breeze blew in, revealing everything in the cabin.

There is a small fireplace burning in the cabin. On the wooden coffee table stood a small vase with two golden lilies in it. There is a sofa chair on each side of the coffee table. The soft cushion looks very comfortable. The moon was visible in the round windows on either side, the pale yellow curtains fluttered in the wind, the furry yellow carpet lay on the ground, and portraits hung on the walls.

"The portraits... Do you know them?" I squinted at the pictures.

"Let's go in and have a look." Kral looks around, and we make eye contact. Eventually, he nodded and we went in together.

The cabin was quiet, Kral went straight to inspect its facilities, and I was drawn to the wall of portraits. The pictures are not big. I looked through them one by one, and each portrait was in color.

The women depicted in these portraits are very different, and if there is one thing they all have in common, it is that they are very beautiful. They smiled. In the lower right corner of the portrait was a name written in gold. I looked closer and saw that it was a man's name.

I studied a portrait of a lady. Her rose-colored lips pursed into a shy smile, her long red hair braided into a long braid, and her black eyes were very attractive. She was holding a small rose that had not yet fully blossomed. Oh, she looks like the princess in the story.

"A. . . Adam..." I struggled to make out the gold letters in the lower right corner.

A thought flashed through my mind, and I immediately turned and called out to Kral, who was already standing behind me.

He stared at the portrait with a complicated look.

"She is..."

"My mom," Kral said.

I thought of the woman in my dream with a huge wound through her neck. She was so beautiful when she was alive. Kral stopped talking. He looked at her, his eyes red.

Looking at his painful appearance, I feel my heart is also in pain.

“I haven't seen her for a long time,” Kral said in a low voice, as if remembering something.

His fingers went up and down, drawing the face in the air. "I've almost forgotten what you look like, mother," he said.

I never saw him so sad, as if the pain in his heart was drowning him out.

"Maybe we can take one of these portraits?" I held his hand, hoping he wouldn't be so sad.

As my hand touched her portrait, a voice said, "Delia, you can't do this."

!!!

"Who are you?"

Kral spoke.

My eyes widened in surprise and I froze. Next, I was held tight. Kral took a step back with me in his arms, staring warily into the room.

“I am the keeper of the Palace of the Moon goddess,” said a voice from one of the portraits. Her voice was sweet and light, like the song of a lark.

Every portrait seemed to come alive for a moment. The spirits of the keeper explained to us through their faces, "Every queen has to go through trials to be recognized by the Moon Goddess. They will leave a portrait hanging there, and their husband's name will appear in the corner of the picture. These portraits represent their husbands' love for her."

The woman in the portrait winked mischievously at me. "It's been a long time since a new woman came here. I've been asleep for a long time." She looked at Kral again and said, "Why did you come in together? You guys are so special."

"I'm sorry. I had to come here with her for some special reason. We didn't mean to offend you." It was the first time Kral had acted so modest in front of me.

"That's all right. I don't mind that," the woman in the other portrait said again. "Now what you're going to do is very simple. Did you see the vase on the coffee table?"

"Sure." Karal and I nodded.

"Drop a few drops of your blood into it. The flower in the vase will answer, and you will have the Moon Goddess's approval."

"Just like that?" I looked suspiciously at the talking portrait on the wall.

"Of course! Werewolves can't get here without a blessing. They can't cross the lake!" The portrait on the wall said with a smile.

"Try it, Delia." Kral handed me the dagger.

The sharp blade pierced my skin and blood immediately gathered at my fingertips. I dropped my finger and let the blood flow into the vase.

One Drop, one drop.

The golden lilies stained with my blood, their golden light flickering.

Time passed slowly, but nothing special changed.

"What's going on?"

The spirits of the keeper cried out in amazement, and all the women on the walls blinked.

My heart sank. Kral did not speak. He stared at the blood on my fingers, his face sullen and silent.

I swallowed my saliva and looked nervously at the guardian spirit. "Is this because I am wolfless?"

"What? !"

The sound of shock echoed through the hut, and all the women on the walls looked at me with their mouths agape in disbelief.

"Oh my goddess!"

"A werewolf who can't shift? !"

"But you smell like a werewolf!"

"What shall we do?"

My ears were suddenly full of sounds. I stared at the sparkling flowers in the vase, feeling a little sad. Sure enough, the moon goddess would not recognize me as a queen.

"Enough!" Kral suddenly said, frowning. His dark eyebrows pressed down unhappily, his eyes sharp, and he picked up my bleeding hand and bandaged my wound. 0

"Listen to me, Delia. It doesn't matter if the Moon Goddess doesn't bless you. I told you, as long as I think you're my queen, you are."

He pulled me into his arms, his voice heavy, like an oath. My palm was gently held in his palm. He looked at me deeply, gritted his teeth, and said, "I broke the royal rule anyway. Don't we look like a perfect couple?"

His eyes were calm and powerful. As long as he is determined to do it, he will do it. I bathed in his eyes. I suddenly became happy.

"Kral... "I forgot his prince status. He was just Kral to me, a pure Lycan named Kral. I opened my mouth, but didn't know what to say.

He lowered his head and gently kissed the cut on my fingertip.

"Let's go."

He winked, took my hand, and headed for the door.

“Wait a minute. Maybe there's a way?”

A hesitant voice on the wall stopped me in my tracks.
