95 Find Me Back

Delia's pov 1

My consciousness was plummeting, like a stone thrown into a lake, helplessly sinking into the dark abyss.

"Pearl," "My dear Pearl,"

It sounded like someone calling my name from a distant place. Until the voice gradually became clear, a warm touch landed on my forehead, and with great effort, I opened my eyes to find myself once again transformed into a wolf cub, lying by the familiar lake.

A woman in a white dress gently picked me up from the shore. Her pale blue eyes carried a smile, as if she was not surprised at all to see me here.

"You've come again," she said while caressing my face. In her embrace, I felt as if I was lying in a hot spring, incredibly safe and comfortable. I was like a weary traveler finally able to relax completely.

"Woof," I lifted my head and instinctively nuzzled her face. It was strange. Though I felt lost and confused the first time I woke up here, now I only feel tranquil.

"How about staying here with me?" The woman lowered her head, and her lips gently brushed against my forehead.

"Woof," I gazed at her. I wondered, why not? There was an irresistible charm about this woman. Her slender, powerful fingers meticulously groomed my entire body, leaving my fur clean and neat. A tingling sensation spread from the top of my head to the tips of my toes.

I seemed to have forgotten something. But I was too immersed in the woman's embrace, so I shook my head and decided not to think about anything.

Endless grasslands surrounded the lake, a quiet place where only the two of us could communicate. No wonder the woman always wanted me to stay. She was undeniably lonely.

"Woof," (What's your name?)

My immature throat could only emit a wolf's howl, but the woman understood what I meant. She only needed to look at me to understand my thoughts.

"Oh? My name?" The woman smiled faintly, her eyes even clearer than the lake's water. "I can't remember when was the last time someone spoke my name. My Pearl."

“Woof woof," (Why do you always call me Pearl? My name is Delia.)

"No no no, my darling," the woman laughed. She cradled me like a baby, aimlessly walking on the boundless grassland, all the while speaking to me.

"I knew you even before you were in your mother's belly," the woman sighed deeply. Despite her youthful appearance, her words sounded as if an elderly soul resided within her youthful exterior. "Pearl is the name I gave you, representing blessings. I wish for you to be like a pearl safely tucked inside a shell, protected from storms, and able to sleep peacefully to the sound of the ocean waves every night."

"But why don't I know about it? Do you know my mother?" In this dream, not only did my body transform into a wolf cub, but even my way of speaking seemed to change into that of a child's thoughts.

"Oh, of course. Do you remember what I told you last time? I am your mother's mother, my darling. I have always been with you, never apart." The woman spoke softly, but I couldn't quite grasp the meaning of her words.

Suddenly, the change came, and the wind on the grassland shifted. The clear sky began to darken, and the lake water started boiling. The woman's expression turned tense. She held me tightly, as if someone was trying to take me away from her.

"Pearl, you made a big mistake."

Her voice sank. She gently shook me awake, and with a serious expression, she asked, "Did you lose me?"

"Woof?" I didn't understand what she meant.

"Find me back, my darling. You need me." Her eyes showed a mix of anxiety and sadness.

"You can't make the same mistake as your mother. I've already reminded you, my darling. Go back and remember to find me." The woman kissed my forehead again, and before I could say anything, I was plunged back into the swirling lake.

Right before I closed my eyes underwater, a male voice swept through the sky, filling the entire space with his low laughter.

"Long time no see, Guardian Spirit."

......

I woke up abruptly, greeted by a bright ray of sunlight streaming through the window. My forehead throbbed slightly, and I uncomfortably closed my eyes, using my tired fingers to rub my temples.

This was the second time that I had dreamt of that strange woman. The memories in my dream were fragmented when I woke up, like shattered crystals, only reflecting intermittent images.

"Damn it," I muttered to myself. Rolling over, I felt discomfort in my lower body. I suddenly remembered what happened last night.

"Delia." Kral's intense gaze seemed to engulf my mind. His voice, with a deep magnetic quality that resonated from the depths of his heart, echoed in my ears once again.

I froze in my motion. My swollen eyes opened with force. The sun was already high in the sky, and a gentle breeze rustled the curtains, failing to disperse the lingering sense of intimacy from last night. It wasn't my familiar room. It was Kral's bedroom. Clothing was scattered under the bed, mingling both mine and Kral's clothes in disarray. One of my shoes was there, but the other one seemed to have gone missing.

"Oh, Moon Goddess, what have I done?" I screamed internally, throwing myself heavily onto the soft bed.

I tightly clutched the pillow beneath my head, wishing to bury my entire being in the bed, never having to face reality. Yet, a voice kept echoing: Oh dear, did I really sleep with Kral?

I wanted to roll on the bed countless times, releasing the frustration and agitation within me. However, my sore limbs left me only with the option to let my mind go blank, staring up at the ceiling adorned with beautiful murals while my body lay like a lifeless piece of wood on the bed.

"Delia, you're done," I silently chanted in my mind.

"Kral's behavior last night clearly showed that he's suspicious of me. I was too obvious," I regretted, "I was too impatient. I shouldn't have said things that would provoke him like 'let me go' during the night. How could he possibly let me go? It's ridiculous. Why did I naively say that last night?"

I closed my eyes and let out a long sigh. What do I do now? The situation was like a tangled mess, blocking my feeble rationality.

"Click." The sound of the door opening echoed in my ears.
