On the other hand, Zhao Youlin simply had no idea that her shares had been targeted. She packed up some essential house chore items, played with Joy, and then put the child to bed.0

After the child fell asleep, her hands were free. She dialed a number that she knew very well by heart.

"Hello, may I know if this is Windmill Detective Agency? I would like to appoint two private detectives to keep an eye on two people on my behalf. Alright, the price is negotiable. Good. There's no need to meet up. I'll pay the deposit to your officer-in-charge by card. After the matter is settled, I'll transfer the remaining sum to you. Just send the card number to this mobile phone. Alright. Thanks."

Zhao Youlin stood by the French windows. After she hung up, she tilted her head and looked at the star-filled sky. A glimpse of cold light darted across her eyes as if a meteor had streaked across the late-night sky and vanished within the blink of an eye.

The next morning, Zhao Youlin woke her precious son from his sleep with an early kiss. Zhao Youlin's heart melted as she saw the cutesy look of his son rubbing his bleary eyes and struggling to get up from bed. 

"Joy, if you don't get up, I won't take you to buy a puppy."

Zhao Youlin mentioned her promise to Joy at the supermarket yesterday.

Indeed. As soon as Joy heard that he was going to buy a puppy, he woke up at once. He scrambled to get up from the bed and grabbed Zhao Youlin in an octopus position. He sounded like a baby, "I want to go… Mommy, I want to buy a puppy…" 

"Quickly get up if you want to go," Zhao Youlin was amused and said in a low voice. She patted his son's fleshy little bottom.

"Mhm, I'm getting up now!" Joy hurriedly nodded. He was afraid that Zhao Youlin would change her mind.

The mother and son washed up and dressed up. After breakfast, they immediately headed toward the pet shop.

Zhao Youlin looked for a pet shop that was only a stone's throw away from the supermarket. It would take about half an hour by cab to reach there. She used to hear from her fellow officer back when she was in the police force that the shop offered a wide variety of dog breeds. Moreover, it provided highly satisfactory after-sales service. At that time, Zhao Youlin never had the intention of keeping a pet. So, she did not pay further attention to it. Little did she expect she would bring her son to visit the shop someday. 

The moment Zhao Youlin entered the shop with Joy, she realized that her fellow officer was right. The shop did have a myriad of dog breeds. Not only did they sell puppies, but also other pets such as kittens, parrots, and even leopard cats, and so on and so forth.

As soon as the attendant saw the customers, she immediately greeted them with enthusiasm. Her eyes especially sparkled when she saw the lovely Joy. She said with a smile, "Boy, are you here to buy a small animal? Do you want me to show you around?"

Joy turned around and cast a glance at Zhao Youlin. Zhao Youlin smiled faintly. She caressed his head and said gently, "Go ahead."

Joy smiled happily after he was given permission. He reached out to the female attendant's hand.

The female attendant nodded and smiled at Zhao Youlin. Then, she held Joy's hand and showed him various pets available in the shop.

After a moment of curious and delightful sightseeing, Joy stopped before a cage. Zhao Youlin came closer to take a look.

It was a freshly weaned Husky. Its pair of pointy ears, black and white fluffy hair elaborated its cuteness. However, there was a clear defensive look from its pair of piercing blue eyes. 

"Joy, do you like it?"

Joy nodded. He looked at Zhao Youlin with much eagerness. His eyes were filled with prayers and desires. 

Zhao Youlin pondered for a moment. In the end, she gave in to him.

"I'll take this one, then."

Two different voices sounded in unison and rang out in the pet shop. Zhao Youlin was caught by surprise. She followed the direction of the finger pointed alongside hers, only to be greeted by an equally stunned and familiar face. 

At the same time, the cries of the two different voices sounded in the same wavelength rang out in the pet shop once again, "How come it's you?!"
