She’s… At Home?

The two of them sat quietly on the long bench by the lake. There were so much they wanted to tell each other, but they kept those words to themselves as they enjoyed the familiar view of the lake, just like they did a few years ago.1

"Yang Yang, I'm going back to the military office."

Huo Chen said after some time.

He was reluctant to leave, but he had to. In order to take her away from this place in secret, there was a lot of paperwork that he had to deal with at the military.

"Alright, go do your thing." She stood up and removed the jacket over her shoulders.

The cool breeze that struck her made her shudder.

Huo Chen noticed it, and made to offer his jacket again.

Lu Zhaoyang took a step ack and shook her head slowly. "I'm calling a taxi. It won't be cold."

If she went back home with the jacket, Huo Yunting will definitely hurl spiteful words at her, and maybe even come up with other ways to hurt her.

Huo Chen had no trouble reading between the lines, either.

He tightened his grip on the jacket in determination. He must act quickly to help her escape this dreadful place as soon as possible.

Huo Chen turned to leave. He entered a military jeep at the roadside.

Lu Zhaoyang turned away as well. Her slender figure walked further and further away from him.

"You'll hear from me soon, Yang Yang!" He cried.

Lu Zhaoyang did not reply, nor did she turn back to look at him. She gestured an "Okay" signal and picked up her pace.

She was afraid to even look at that military jeep, since it would remind her of Chen's obsolete future and shake her resolve.

Huo Yunting was in a horrible mood that day. He did not even respond to Mu Xian's invite to the Golden City.

The morning's events still haunted him. He was angry with himself for losing it, but even angrier at Lu Zhaoyang for betraying him. He now knew exactly how much she cared about Huo Chen.

So what if he's your first love? He should only be a distant memory, right?

He stepped on the accelerator and sped back home.

Once he reached his mansion, he slammed the car door so heavily that he surprised the gardener at work.

What has gotten into him today? He gave me such a fright…

Huo Yunting walked into the house with a grim face. Lu Zhaoyang was not in the living room, so he went straight to the second floor.

The door to their room was shut. Huo Yunting remembered what he saw last night behind the door — Lu Zhaoyang packing her things.

Without even knocking, he kicked the door open.

Lu Zhaoyang was inside, sitting by the window with a book in her hands. The gentle evening sun lit her up profile. Her long, delicate eyelashes fluttered at the sound of the door.

When she saw it was him, she returned her attention to her book.

She's… at home?

Huo Yunting felt the rage inside him largely smothered. His steps lightened as he walked toward her and asked, "What are you reading?"

Lu Zhaoyang waved the book cover in front of him, and then continued reading the next page, ignoring his presence.

Nevertheless, she had answered his question. Is she no longer angry?

Huo Yunting felt confused, but he did not pursue the matter further.

Since she was willing to behave as though nothing had happened, he did not want to purposefully bring it up as well.

Of course, the assumption was that she had decided to stay by his side.

"Management skills?" He sat down beside Lu Zhaoyang and put an arm around her waist to turn her toward him. "Who are you thinking of managing?"

Lu Zhaoyang looked up at him and threw the book at him. "It was on your bookshelf. I was bored and looking for entertainment."
