"What can I do… to make you… happy?"2

Out of the blue, in their pitch black bedroom, Lu Zhaoyang whispered those words ever so quietly.

He heard every single word.

"Huo Yunting…"

She rubbed her forehead against his chest and slid closer to him. "I'm sorry…"

Huo Yunting breathed heavily as his muscles stiffened. He convinced himself not to push her away when he felt certain that she was still asleep.

Nevertheless, he was very tempted to wake her up in a more intimate way.

Lu Zhaoyang snuggled closer but did not move after that. She slept soundly by his side.

Huo Yunting, however, barely closed his eyes that night. He could barely control his urge to do her!

Early next morning, when Lu Zhaoyang woke up and found herself in the man's arms, she nearly choked.

Huo Yunting was definitely not in the mood for such intimacy last night.

"Then do continue with your sleep." She left and made her way downstairs.

Huo Yunting did not appear for the rest of the morning, but she chose not to disturb him.

"Ma'am, it's noon already, is the master up yet?" A maid asked Lu Zhaoyang timidly.

"Why don't you go check on him?" If she went herself, Huo Yunting might start a round of bickering with her.

"Alright."

Lu Zhaoyang lied back on the sofa and noted the weather outside.

It was wonderful with clear skies and a beaming sun. She felt like going outdoors…

It would be even better if she could visit Aunt Qiu.

Huo Yunting finally came downstairs to have lunch. In order to avoid ruining his appetite, Lu Zhaoyang waited until he was done with his meal before approaching him.

Huo Yunting focused on his computer screen when he noticed her, but he only gave her a brief glance of acknowledgement.

Lu Zhaoyang hesitated for a few moments before finally gathering enough courage to speak. "Can you give me the address of Aunt Qiu's cemetery? I'd like to visit her."

Huo Yunting's lips thinned. He stayed quiet for a long time before he finally grabbed a post-it note, scribbled something on it, and passed the note to her.

"Thank you, Have a good rest today. I will be working tomorrow so I won't be coming back. Call me if there's anything."

She held the note tightly in her fingers and turned to leave.

Huo Yunting watched her walk out of his study. He maintained his gaze at the door long after she shut it behind her as he wallowed in his own thoughts.

Lu Zhaoyang bought a bouquet of lilies and went to a first-rate cemetery in the outskirts of the city.

She looked at the freshly made tombstone, which had a black-and-white photo of Qiu Ran when she was alive.

Lu Zhaoyang bent down and put down the flowers carefully before the tombstone. Then, she bowed deeply three times.

"Aunt, I may not be able to follow your wish and leave Huo Yunting, but I will try my best to look after him. Please… rest in peace."

The only thing she could do for him now was to take care of mundane necessities like this while he took his time to recuperate.
