0Huo Yunting replied with a faint 'mhm' and took a piece of bamboo shoot with his chopsticks.

Every dish on the table was his favorite. Some were so complicated to cook that they required hours of preparation.

All the dishes were left untouched; it seemed that she had not eaten yet.

Huo Yunting saw the bandage on Lu Zhaoyang's left index finger.

Was she injured?

Lu Zhaoyang had been staring at him all this while and saw his startled expression.

She came to her senses and bent her index finger slightly. "Just a minor cut. No big deal."

 "I am not worried about you, don't overthink." Huo Yunting looked away. 

"Then, let's eat!"

Lu Zhaoyang smiled and fetched him some food from the dishes. But he just left it aside and ate his own.

She exhaled; his lousy mood was totally understandable.

They were eating very slowly; neither of them ate much, actually.

Without the maid, Lu Zhaoyang had to clean up the table.

While she was at it, Huo Yunting had already gone upstairs.

Just as she walked into the kitchen with the dishes, the scene in the bedroom suddenly came to mind.

Huo Yunting's attitude was evident just now.

She rushed up to the hallway upstairs and saw him in front of the bedroom door. She immediately shouted, "Huo Yunting, don't open the door!"

Huo Yunting did not even look at her as he pushed the door open.

He saw colorful lights.

Had this woman turned the bedroom into a bar?

Under the colorful lights were a three-layered cake with delicate candles.

Not far away on the bed was a sea of red roses. He could smell the room filled with a fresh and rustic scent of flowers.

No wonder she was so emotional.

Huo Yunting thoughtfully turned around and looked silently at Lu Zhaoyang, who ran up to him breathlessly.

She pressed her hand on her heaving chest, and her grape-like eyes were full of anticipation.

"Enjoy yourself," Huo Yunting said.

"Wait! It's okay if you don't like it. Just blow out the candles, cut the cake, and make a wish!"

She hurried over and turned off the lighting effects.

It seemed that the ideas that she got online did not work on Huo Yunting a bit.

"No, thanks." He turned and walked toward the guest room.

Lu Zhaoyang leaned against the wall still gasping for air.

"Huo Yunting!"

He seemed to hesitate but did not stop.

"Happy birthday!" she shouted.

"I don't need your wishes. Please remember to take away the rubbish from my room."

He entered the guest room and slammed the door shut.

Lu Zhaoyang's face was filled with disappointment; she had spent the entire day in the cake shop just to make the cake.

And he just took a glance at it.

She sighed and went to clean up the room.

Why did she want to make heart-shaped rose petals on the bed?

Suddenly, she regretted; Huo Yunting and her were not even couples.

She tossed all the petals into the garbage bag and changed the bedsheet, which still had the light aroma of roses on it with a new one.

There was a set of uniforms that Lin Yazhi gave her last time. She doggedly brought it here and had never put it on.

Should she wear it now and see how Huo Yunting was going to react?

Finally, Lu Zhaoyang threw the clothes into the garbage bag.

It was midnight. Lu Zhaoyang still could not sleep but lay in bed, smelling the sweet scent in the room.
