Wen He was surprised. "So I'll be staying here from now on?"

"Yes, it's a bit of a distance from the base, you won't be disturbed." He said as he stopped the car. He had not lived here for a long while.

After all, living in the army dorm felt closer to him and was convenient.

"If I've known I should have complained to you earlier and don't have to be disturbed by the morning exercises every morning."

She plucked a flower along the way and smelled it before following him into the house.

It had a simple beige-colored interior and the furniture was simple yet tasteful.

The two sat face to face as they ate and Huo Chen was elegant as ever with proper table manners.

After finishing his meal, he put down the bowl and chopsticks, "Rest well. I still have something to do."

"Oh, go on then....." She too wanted to catch up on some sleep.

When she woke up, the auntie told her that he had called and said he would not be coming back tonight.

Was she going to stay here alone?

"What is he thinking? Leaving her just like that!"

Wen He demurred as she stabbed the bowl with her chopsticks.

After finishing her dinner hastily, Wen He was still concerned and took the car keys as she headed outside.

She wanted to see what he was up to!

But the moment she got into the car and started the engine, she suddenly had doubts.

She was not Huo Chen's soldier and what's the point of her going back there? To join in on the training?

So she got down, went up, took a shower all in one go before sprawling on all fours on the bed. Yet she could not sleep.

She thought of waiting for him to return but even until late at night he did not return.

And the next day, there were no news of Huo Chen and he could not even be reached on his phone.

"Huo Chen, you dumbass!" Wen He angrily threw her phone on the table. "Now you've done it!"

She got up, her eyes cold and the originally twenty minute commute was halved as she sped over. She went into Huo Chen's room the moment she arrived. No one was there!

She immediately went downstairs to look and as she passed by two of the soldiers, they were smiling.

The moment she got passed them, she heard them whispering to themselves.

"I heard our officer was a beast!"

"Yeah man, he even broke the bed!"

Over in the corner, Wen He heard them, and snorted. "Don't you go rambling there, I've not left yet! Where's Huo Chen?"

"Ah, Miss, we're just curious you know...." The two immediately responded apologetically. "Sir Huo is over at the shooting range, and it's not training time now, go, quickly!"

"I'll remember this!"

Wen He, with her privilege as Huo Chen's wife, easily gained access into the range.

The moment she stepped in, she heard a gunshot. As she turned to the target. Eighth ring!

That was unlike Huo Chen's standards.

As she took a better look, it was not.

Wen He started looking around and she quickly found that familiar figure.

Huo Chen held his hands behind him and looked on sternly at the soldiers pulling extra training on their marksmanship.

"Huo Chen....."

She smiled as she walked over and while she was made to wait because he did not return home last night, she still had to preserve his dignity before everyone.

"Why are you here?" A sliver of surprise flashed through his eyes.

Didn't she not like this place, now that he had sent her away, she instead returned herself.

The soldiers undergoing 'extra training' looked on and started chirping in their hearts. This is probably a chance for them to catch some break.
