"Wen He, wake up."

He patted her face and noticed that she was still breathing, but she was unconscious. That came as a huge relief to him. He carried her on his back again and started walking slowly in some random direction.

Two hours later, Wen He woke up.

"Mm…"

She woke up in a daze and blinked her eyes slowly.

"You're up?" Huo Chen asked in his characteristic low voice.

"Yeah."

She massaged her temples and asked, "Where are we?"

Memories from before she blacked out gradually came back to her and made her nervous.

When she smelled the strong scent of blood coming from Huo Chen, she panicked and jumped down from his back.

"What happened to…"

The sight of him stopped her from finishing the sentence.

His once clean and tidy uniform was now in tatters. She could see numerous wounds through the holes in his uniform.

Even his face was covered with scars.

His right leg was in particularly bad shape. Something sharp had pierced through it, leaving a big wound that had not stopped bleeding.

Tears spilled out from the corner of her eyes.
