784、Kill Me and you won’t live long either

Upon the command, countless bullets were shot as a rain of grenades were lobbed over. The silence in the woods was disrupted as enemies were deafened by the bombardment. It took them a few seconds stunned before they picked up their guns to fight back.1

People were screaming, guns were reloaded and bullets were fired. 

Huo Chen sprinted into the base after the enemies outside were killed. He skillfully pulled his trigger upon spotting anyone in his sight without hesitation. 

Song Shou took cover of his general as he raised his voice, "Sha Kang isn't here, sir! He might have escaped through an underground tunnel!" 

Huo Chen looked around and immediately pinpointed the entrance to the underground, "Get him!" He hopped in.

"All members follow sir to the underground. Protect at all cost!" And they jumped in as well. 

Through the dark, crammy tunnel, Huo Chen hurried his way through while hoping to spot the enemies before they escaped. He exchanged bullets with the men running ahead of him upon seeing a few silhouettes. Sparks blinked in the tunnel as the bullets bounced and scratched the rocky walls. 

He tilted his head and dodged an incoming bullet before pulling another shot that sent one man dead to the ground. Sha Kang had a few men with him yet they were all taken down by Huo Chen gradually as their distance reduced.

At last, Sha Kang popped up at one point, lifting his arms and surrendered. 

"Men from Country Z, I hereby surrender!" 

BANG!

A bullet flew through his ear. "AHHHH!!!" Sha Kang shrieked and backed away, cursing in his mother tongue, "I remember your country has a saying of not killing a surrendered man. What do you mean by this? I warn you, if you kill me, you won't live long either!"

Huo Chen came out from the corner holding his gun right at Sha Kang's forehead.

"Take this man!" The handcuffs were then locked upon Sha Kang's wrists before he was brought back to the temporary base.

"I demand an arrangement!" Announced Huo Chen as he went to the storage where Sha Kang was hung high above. He inspected the criminal before giving a look of disdain. It was a man with a rugged face densely covered by curly beard and revealed eyes of hatred—a typical look of a mafia leader in the desert. He groaned upon seeing Huo Chen, "Leader of the Country Z's army, you have no rights to punish me before an official trial! It's illegal!" The mother tongue might not be decipherable to other Country Z soldiers but Huo Chen knew the language.

He replied, "Be honest."

"What?" 

"Is it your idea to kill 67 sailors from Country Z?" Huo Chen was firm as he stood right before Sha Kang. His gaze pierced his soul, "Are you related to the Blood Rose? Which side are you on? Which leader in Country T?"

The questions were baffling to the criminal from Country T as he snorted, "I have no idea what you are saying." He lifted his head in a pride that disdained Country Z's lawlessness. 

"You had your chance." 

Huo Chen sat down on a bench and closed his eyes.

"My men."

"Yes, sir?"

"Bring in the punishment."

Song Shou stumbled upon the order. He quickly ran to Huo Chen and whispered, "Sha Kang is no ordinary captive. As he said, we can't punish him without an official trial."
