Wen He could not feel her breath again as she withdrew her sight and advanced forward.

Gu Jinzhi frowned and wanted to go after Wen He yet she fell. She fell like a lifeless doll discarded by its owner.

"Ma'am!" Both Gu Jinzhi and Song Shou went to her side. 

The president of Golden City lifted the weakened woman promptly, "I'm taking her to the hospital!" 

"Hold it," said Huo Chen with no light in his hazel eyes. "You aren't going anywhere." 

Gu Jinzhi's ever-so-calm expression cracked as his cheek shook and his brows furrowed into complete fury. He turned to glare at Huo Chen, "Don't you think you have done too much? Even if you disagree with what Wen He had done, you shouldn't throw away her heart like a piece of trash!" 

Huo Chen monotonously mimicked Jinzhi's tone, "Don't you think you mind others' business too much?" 

"Huo Chen, we fellow gentlemen talk things straight," replied Gu Jinzhi fearlessly towards the pressure exerted by Huo Chen. "Wen He has done enough for you. Sure, you can turn a blind eye to everything she has done. You can deny the fact that she did them for you too. You have all the rights to give up on her but you have no right to ever emotionally-abuse her. You can't even part ways with her in peace. I seriously wonder if you ever fell in love with her!" So many words he uttered yet none of them struck Huo Chen. 

Huo Chen responded mechanically, "Are you done?" 

"..."

Gu Jinzhi snorted as his expression turned withdrawn and colder. While dragging Wen He away, Huo Chen added, "She's not suitable to show up in a general hospital right now. I'll take her to the hospital in the camp. About the divorce—we'll talk about it some other time." 

Gu Jinzhi's eyes enlarged as he stared at Huo Chen in silence. He was trying to read something but he failed.

"Well…" He shrugged, "At least somebody has some professional ethics. Allow me to join you both since I can't leave my beloved to a stranger like you." 

Huo Chen said nothing towards his remark. He beckoned to them, "Song Shou."

"Yes sir!"

The aide-de-camp led a few men to take care of the mess while Huo Chen and Gu Jinzhi, with Wen He in his grip, rushed to the hospital at the local base.

There were screeches in her ears as she opened her eyes, getting blinded by the glaring white light from the fluorescent. She took a deep breath and smelled sanitizing alcohol. She was at the hospital. She looked around with squinted eyes and saw Gu Jinzhi who smiled at her, "Darling, you woke up?" 

"Take that 'darling' salutation of yours to hell." Wen He did an eyeroll.

"Okay." Gu Jinzhi looked slightly disappointed. "Honey, how do you feel?" 

"..."

No, it's not because I don't like to be called 'darling' that I cursed you. It's because it's coming from YOU!

Ugh! Nevermind.

Wen He got up and leaned against the wall behind her bed, "What happened?"

"Fractured ankle. Slight fever." 

Wen He nodded, "I see…" 

"Well, these are strain and slashes, probably healed in a few weeks. We have another actual trauma with you, which are far worse. Huo Chen took you as a total stranger and that's worse than any of those traumas you are suffering now. It might take forever to heal."
