Wen He considered his words and thought that they made sense. Death was a quick and simple ending, but life was so much more frightening.

The days passed by quickly. Soon, the past felt like a distant memory.

Huo Chen performed well in his duties and was promoted to lieutenant general.

Unlike Wen He's ceremonial rank of second lieutenant, the promotion ceremony for him was grander in scale.

It was carried out in the main building of the military headquarters. It was attended by all high-ranking officers from the army, marine and air forces.

Wen He noticed it and smiled back at him.

Huo Chen was moved, but did not react outwardly.

As was protocol, he started by expressing his gratitude and loyalty to the military.

When he was done, the audience applauded thunderously.

"Finally, I would like to thank someone."

Huo Chen added abruptly, bringing the end of his speech to an unexpected turn.

He spoke solemnly, but his gaze was gentle and warm, in contrast to his cold profile.

"Without her, I would not be here today. She is more important to me than my life."

The audience gasped in surprise.

Wen He was taken aback as well.
