"No." Wen He rejected without hesitation, "I can be your bodyguard but not your shiny prop on a party."

"Lin Family."

"That Lin family?" Wen He pondered, "I think I've heard of that. Isn't that the family who started off small in the medical industry and is now a kind of big shot? I heard about them from Huo Chen before. They supply almost everything, from machines to medicine in the military. They know a lot of people. They are low-profiled, though."

"So what's your association with them?" Asked Wen He as she sat down.

"Well, the current owner of the family is my dad."

"Oh I see. Wait, WHATT????" Wen He sprang from her sofa, "Then why aren't you Lin Jinzhi? Wait, don't tell me…" 

You're the illegitimate child?! 

"Sorry to disappoint," replied Gu Jinzhi as he read her expression like a book while the wine glass twirled in his grip. His eyes partially closed, "I'm not what you're thinking. I am the official second young master of Lin family. Lin Yuan, my mother, is the family's second mistress. I just took her surname."

"I—I see…" Wen He was intrigued but she did not inquire further, "Well, okay, just pick me up at my place on that day. I got to go." 

"Alright." Gu Jin watched her leaving the room as he lit a cigarette for himself. The flickering flame shone upon his cold expression and he took a deep breath.

"UGH!"

He coughed and quickly took out the handkerchief in his pocket to cover his mouth. As every reader who was potentially exposed to Korean drama predicted, there was a spit of blood tainting his napkin when he put it down. 

He smiled briefly, "I kinda lose control without Wen He—Geez."

Soon, Friday arrived and Gu Jinzhi arrived by Wen He's apartment promptly. 

Taking it as a rather simple even unimportant function, Wen He just picked a green long dress from her wardrobe and walked downstairs. There was disdain in the man's eyes when she popped into the car.

"HELLO, Ma'am, we are going to a business function. Can you at least get properly dressed?" 

Wen He shrugged, "This looks proper enough to me. How am I underdressed?"

Gu Jinzhi decided not to argue with her. Instead, he drove the car to a rather premium-looking salon and dragged her all the way to the chair, "What are you doing, Gu Ji-"

"SHH!" And he ordered the best hairstylist to do everything. 

Wen He's hair was dyed, permed and combed. They even gave a gold fitting fishtail skirt with a majestic tail dragging over the floor. Gu Jinzhi snickered, "Meh, I knew you fit a better dress." 

Wen He took a good look at herself in the mirror. It was awkward—very awkward. 

The outfit was no-doubt stunning but she felt overdressed by then.

"Let's go." And they arrived by a manor located somewhere rather remote, far away from the heart of the city.

It was a spacious manor, a typical one imagined solemn like a palace in British history, that even the gate was uniquely designed. 

A row of exquisite cars had already been parked outside the gate. No one was waiting by the door to greet the guests.

They were apparently late.
