Huo Chen rubbed his lips and frowned briefly, "Fine. If you want a divorce, okay." There was agony wailing in his eyes yet Huo Chen did not notice his words trembled as he spoke. He breathed in deep before he continued under Wen He's stunned look, "As long as you are willing to return to the military, I can accept our divorce. I will also respect all your decisions from then on." 

"..." Wen He stumbled upon his offer. She had wanted the offer for weeks yet she was not happy when Huo Chen stated it. "I do appreciate your intention in accepting the divorce but sorry I will never return to the army. We are no longer husband-and-wife anyway. It would be hard to explain." And then she slammed the door of the car in agitation, "Now let me out! I'll get home myself!"

"Wen He, stop it!" The car remained in motion as Huo Chen raised his voice, "I did it all for your safety. If you stay out there alone, anything can happen to you and it will be too late. Do you really think Gu Jinzhi has the leisure and obligation to take care of you? So, stop your willfulness at once!"

I want a new life. But my past is haunting me.

Maybe—one day. If I left him for good, I'll forget everything that happened in the past.

But how can I stop seeing him when I am back in the military? 

How much longer can I stay calm like this?

"Wen He…" Huo Chen's grip tightened on the steering that it cracked, "Don't you forget that we-"

"We are still married, yes. I did not forget that." Suddenly, Wen He, without her seatbelt, was thrown towards the windscreen as Huo Chen made a drastic brake on his car. The tyres were screeching. She was going to crash into the window yet she was grabbed by the big strong arm next to her.

The next second, she was already within his embrace.

"Huo Chen…" She lifted her eyes and looked into his as her arm wrapped over his neck.
