The only difference between his stare and her stare was that she was blushing. Because she was directly sitting opposite Ji Yao she reached out and placed a tender piece of fish in his bowl and said, "Yao-ge, eat some more," with a coquettish voice. 1

One would think Xiaoyu and Rui Fei would get the same treatment but apparently not because Ji Yao smiled at her and said, "Thanks." The difference in treatment was so huge that Ji Yao felt a painful sting on his heart like someone had taken an entire bottle of methylated spirit and poured it on his wound.

What he didn't realise was that a black seed had been planted in his heart at that very moment. Rui Li noticed her brother staring at Ji Yao and knew exactly what was going on or at least she thought she did. Ji Yao was treating her brother coldly yet he was all smiley with everyone else. That's got to hurt, right?

She leaned over and whispered, "Don't worry brother. I will teach you to make a tassel so you can apologize to Yao-ge... how about it?"

She might have whispered but Rui Yewan heard her loud and clear. He leaned in closer too and suggested, "I think flowers will suffice," in a sarcastic tone as he raised his steaming cup of tea to take a sip.

"Yah..... that's an even better idea," said Rui Li causing Rui Yewan to choke on his cup of tea.

"*Cough... *cough *cough.... ahem-hem. Sorry wrong pipe," he said patting his chest. When he raised his head everyone was staring at him so he dismissively waved his hand saying, "Please carry on. I am fine." As soon as everyone looked away he leaned his entire body beyond Rui Fei to face Rui Li who was on the other side.

"Are you fuckin kidding me? Are you crazy?" he whispered feeling like Rui Li shouldn't be allowed to make any major decisions. Flowers? Seriously? The only thing Rui Fei would get out of that is his ass kicked.

"What? Boys can't get flowers, huh? I read it in Stormy love and the male lead liked it," she said with confidence but Rui Yewan's reaction had her bewildered.

"That!" said Rui Yewan raising his voice which got everyone else's attention so he lowered it as he said, "it was a danmei..... get it?"

Rui Li scratched her head in confusion. She didn't even know what that word meant. Seeing her turmoil Rui Yewan looked around to see if anyone was listening then said, "You know..... boy vs boy... guy on guy... how are you not getting this?"

Rui Fei who was stuck in the middle, "....."

"Picture male lead ending up with a guy and not a girl doing, " he whispered before pressing his fingers together on both his hands before bringing them closer in a kissing gesture.

Rui Li's eyes widened as she covered her mouth with her hand. Rui Fei picked up his cup of tea and took a sip while pushing Rui Yewan's hands down discretely.

Across the table, Ji Yao didn't miss their little actions in the corner of his eye.  He couldn't hear what they were saying but that kissing gesture had him wondering what they were secretly discussing.

Rui Li's soul that had flown away came back as she stammered, "I-is tha-that a thing. Ca-can two me-men... nahhhh." Let's forgive this hatchling for not knowing the first romance book she read was a danmei.

She was still learning to read back then and couldn't differentiate between the characters. At the time she was reading it, Rui Yewan had inspected it for explicit stuff and gave it back to her when he was certain it was appropriate for her age.

Rui Li has also only been free for two years and hadn't seen much of the world so it never crossed her mind that it was possible and there was absolutely nothing wrong with it.

"Girls too..... so yes flowers might be mistaken for a confession," whispered Rui Yewan.

The mind blown Rui Li was like an ashen corpse for a second that even Rui Fei was getting worried about her. Just as he reached out to poke her she suddenly screamed jolting everyone.

"AAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH! I want... Wan-ge, I want to read it. AAAAAAHHHHHHH... where is it? Tell me. Fuck this shit, I will go look for it by myself," she said before scurrying out of the main hall almost tripping along the way.

Rui Yewan looked as guilty as fuck as he took a sip of his tea with shifty eyes. Realising everyone was looking at him he tried to smooth things over. "She..... um..... she lost something ahem," he said as his gaze shifted in Rui Fei's direction.

Rui Fei gestured with his head asking him to go check on Rui Li so he reluctantly stood up and excused himself. If Rui Yewan had known Rui Li would scream like a goat about to get slaughtered he wouldn't have told her about it.

What they didn't know was that fujoshis everywhere were celebrating their little sister joining the clan. Rui Yewan was yet to realise the problem he created.

"Is she okay?" asked Ji Wen rubbing his sore ears from all that screaming. That little girl could scream loud enough to wake the dead.

Rui Fei who was yet to comprehend what Rui Yewan said nodded his head absentmindedly. He raised his head only to meet Ji Yao's gaze.

The two stared at each other for a second creating tiny sparks in Rui Fei's chest but the sparks immediately died down when Xiaoyu stood up saying, "I will go check on her."

As she passed by Rui Fei he subconsciously reached out and held her wrist stopping her. "You can sit back down. She is fine."

Ji Yao's piercing gaze slowly moved down to the joined pair of hands and his sight lingered there for some odd reason.
