Nothing is impossible

The more the two grand figures in the Nocru community fought the deeper they fell into the state of savagery more especially Huishe Nan. The more he engaged his aether and pushed himself to the limit the more he dangerously approached an outburst.2

This is why Huishe Shushi was here in the first place. It was her job to keep him rational because the moment he steps over that threshold there was no telling how far he would go. In the best case scenario, his attacks would become in discriminatory and he might harm his allies. Worst case scenario, he implodes and lay waste to everything and everyone in his path.

Guarded by several Huishe clansmen including her son and his ahem... and Captain Lan she directed her essence that one could easily describe as a fragrance towards Huishe Nan's giant true form. This process when done for a short period of time was nothing but the longer one does it the more burdensome it becomes.

She was slowly getting tired as her stamina was weak, to begin with, but she was resilient. She might have been able to take it but Huishe Yue wasn't. Time and time again he had suggested going to assist his father so as to alleviate some pressure but his mother had decisively refused.

Huishe Nan had commanded that everyone should stay out of it and his order was to be obeyed. But as Huishe Yue watched sweat drip ceaselessly down his mother's forehead he couldn't help it.

Against her orders, he unsheathed his sword and vanished into the thick dust by himself. Startled Lan Wu took a step forward to follow him only for him to pause and look back at the woman surrounded by plenty in a protection circle.

"Go and make sure he doesn't do anything stupid," she said in a sharp voice that slashed straight at Lan Wu's back. Her voice was so domineering that he found himself obediently running off like if he didn't leave quickly he would be scolded by her.

Up in the sky as the Qilin flames shot out its mouth scorching the slithering body of the Huishe a violent black fog struck at the Qilin directly eating through its aetherial veins like acid. Caught unaware Qilin San didn't have enough time to block the assault and his body staggered a few feet further.

Angered he let out an earth-shaking bellow before vanishing on the spot. "Shit!" swore Huishe Yue as he transformed into his true form and followed his father in hot pursuit. "I TOLD YOU NOT TO INTERFERE!!!!!!!!" yelled the bigger Huishe with a grey body and blue patterns.

Huishe Yue's body trembled but he responded saying, "Your wife can't keep you sane for long. You have to end this quickly."

Hearing this Huishe Nan couldn't retort back. His son was right. "Let's find him then," he said his voice much lower than before. Huishe Yue nodded tacitly but it seemed they didn't need to look far.

From a distance, they saw a familiar Qilin by the only standing building in the imperial palace. With their loud roars ripping through the skies they approached Qilin San intending to use a double strike and subdue him but before they could do that Qilin San shot out an inferno made of his eternal flames forming a circle of defence.

"MUAHAHAHAHA!!! YOU HUISHE BASTARDS NEVER KEEP TO YOUR WORD. SINCE YOU CHANGED YOUR RULES THEN I WON'T HESITATE TO CHANGE MINE AS WELL.... HOW ABOUT IT CLAN LEADER? YOU CAN HAND YOURSELF OVER IN EXCHANGE!"

As his voice tore the skies he revealed the ace under his sleeve. Beside him was none other than Huishe Nan's grandson being strangled by the deadly eternal flames seeping into his aetherial veins. Because his legs were still chained Rui Fei couldn't defend himself.

He had only managed to free both his and Ji Yao's wrists and not the rest.

His entire body was being strangled by the flames making him grimace in pain as his skin got scorched. He does remember this excruciating feeling from the time he tried to pass through Ji Yao's eternal flames and go after him. This time the pain was ten times stronger that he actually thought he was going to die.

Involuntary tears streamed down his cheeks as the strong smell of burning flesh pervaded the air. His skin was red with his veins bulging under his skin. He cried out in pain in such a heartbreaking way that had the two Huishe stepping forward for once to negotiate with a Qilin.

Both Huishe transformed into the human form and begged for Qilin San to stop. "I will exchange with him, please let him go..... These issues are between you and me not him," said Huishe Nan his voice croaky.

"Please let him go," said Huishe Yue with his trembling hands stretched out, "Ah-Fei, breathe deeply and keep fighting it. Don't let the flames spread."

Rui Fei couldn't even hear them clearly. All he could think of was Ji Yao. He promised he would never leave but now he might have to break his promise. If his grandfather exchanged himself with him it meant the only person who could ever kill Qilin San would be dead.

If that happens then everyone including Ji Yao would be in danger. Having made up his mind he spoke through gritted teeth, "Don't... if you do that then, then it's all meaningless."

Huishe Nan's heart weighed heavy like a boulder was crushing it when he heard his grandson's words. He had failed to protect his children and lost one of them. Now he was about to lose his grandson having yet again failed to protect one of his own. He couldn't accept it.

Despite the risks and uncertainties, he had to exchange himself and take Rui Fei's place. "Take me," he said moving closer to the wall of eternal flames that were already attracted to his aetherial veins and eager to burn through his aether.

"Walk through the flames and I will let him go," said Qilin San as an evil glint flashed through his eyes.

Huishe Nan impulsively took a step forward only for his wrist to be caught by his son. Annoyed he shook him off but Huishe Yue held on tight with his gaze staring straight into Qilin San's eyes.

He could see it. He could clearly see what his father couldn't. Qilin San never intended on letting Rui Fei go. Once Huishe Nan passes through that fire his body would weaken considerably and Qilin San would take the chance to kill Rui Fei thoroughly crippling the Huishe clan.

"Tell him...tell him that I had, had no choice," he said as he felt those flames approach his aether. He was going to die the moment his aether was invaded.

Just then a flash of red light tore through the eternal flames and accurately struck Qilin San's back then he stumbled forward. Angry he bellowed, "Who!" but his body suddenly felt strong fear that spread all over from the top of his head to the soles of his feet.

"Im-impossible," he muttered but as a Nocru he should know that that word doesn't exist.
