Birth of a new King
There were two people who cared about Rui Fei and were available to save him from the clutches of this demon Qilin San which were Huishe Xiyue and Ji Yao. From where she was Huishe Xiyue could feel the desperate cries of her cub so she dropped everything and flew over. 1
Because she was now a celestial granted authority by the heavens she was no longer a powerless Huishe female. She had every tool necessary to subdue Qilin San but unfortunately, she didn't get the opportunity to make a grand entrance and save her son.
That is because the most unlikely candidate who was in all aspects at a disadvantage had shown up and did the unthinkable. Who else could this person be apart from Ji Yao?
To fully understand why Qilin San was gasping like he had seen a resentful ghost and stammering, "Im-impossible," we would have to go a couple of minutes back.
Lying underneath the rubble, Ji Yao slowly opened his eyes struggling to regain his senses. He tried to move but his muscles screamed at him making him grimace. Because his seraphic energy couldn't circulate inside his aetherial veins it meant he bore the brunt of the aftershock collision between these two powerful Nocru legends several times.
That also meant Rui Fei suffered an even worse fate because he had blocked him with his body reducing the impact on Ji Yao. Thinking of his lover who always put himself in the line of fire just to protect him he couldn't help but bite hard on his bottom lip while crawling out of the rubble.
Because he had been under the pile of debris he couldn't see anything. After his finger poked through the surface of the debris, his vision was blurred but he could see everything.
A sharp piercing pain stabbed through his heart as he stared at Rui Fei being strangled and burnt by his grandfather's eternal flame. His face drained of all colour with his entire body trembling all over.
He was sick of this shit. Sick of all of it. He knew that his title and Rui Fei's status came with danger. Their lives would inevitably be under threat but even this was a bit much for him.
He couldn't bear to have a repeat of what happened a couple of years ago. Only this time instead of him it was Rui Fei who was at death's door.
The pain, the hurt and grief that came with it was something he didn't want either of them to go through again. But what could he do? Because of the chains on his leg, he was deemed useless but he didn't give up. Clawing at the large debris he got up with his eyes closed tightly scowling in pain.
As he limped over with his back slumped and his eyes murderous he kept hearing a voice in his head telling him, 'You want to save him than be the most powerful person in the clan. Be the most powerful person.'
A severe pain coming from his leg brought him down to his knee and right after that, he felt like he could no longer get up. His entire body was covered in dust his once immaculate hair was dishevelled and its dark lustrous colour was now dull and covered in dirt.
His hair hung low covering his face but from the way, his shoulders were shaking it was easy to tell what kind of emotion he was going through right now. Something silently dropped on the ground wetting the dirt like a drop of rain. Soon after another one followed as the person now kneeling fully on the floor clutched the dirt on the ground tightly.
"If he dies, I will die as well," he muttered with shivering lips like he had been dunked into an icy lake after heavy snowfall.
'Be the most powerful. Take your rightful position as king and there won't be any need for that. After that you can protect him well,' spoke the voice in his head like a snake trying to convince Eve to eat the forbidden fruit.
Another teardrop splattered on the ground as an overpowering wave of pain caused his muscles to contract violently. The protruding veins on the side of his neck were pulsing but these weren't blood vessels but his dry aetherial veins throbbing like a beast was threatening to come out.
'We have been suppressed for a long time. Our roots have been cut off directly just because our system is too old fashioned and some people don't like it,' echoed the same voice but Ji Yao couldn't understand what they were saying.
The only thing he focused on were the words most powerful person and protecting Rui Fei. "How..... how do I bec, become the most powerful?" he asked through gritted teeth as he clutched the dirt in his hands even tighter till his knuckles turned white.
Ji Yao didn't even need to wait for a response because soon after a sharp stinging pain struck his aether and the chains on his ankles shattered to pieces by themselves. His aether that had been still suddenly turned violent as a special seed that was hidden deeply suddenly sprout forth.
A phenomenon not seen in thousands of years occurred right here in the middle of a broken down platform. The Acany that had been forcibly removed in each and every successor born with it across several clans had finally sprouted.
A system that had been abolished thousands of years ago with each clan going their separate ways had been accidentally brought back when this thing inside Ji Yao's aether was left to sprout and mature.
Ji Yao who had no idea what kind of call he had answered writhed in pain as a razor-sharp beam shot out of his body attacking Qilin San forcing him to let go of Rui Fei.
As the seed bloomed and bind with his seraphic energy he felt an inexplicable change in his body like he had somehow grown more powerful. He felt a strong urge to throw up so he let go only to vomit a mouthful of blood mixed in with that poison in his body.
His eyes brightened as a sense of relief washed over him. Feeling like a new person he stood up in time to hear Qilin San mumble, "Im-impossible."
Ji Yao wiped the blood off his mouth with a grim smile on his face as he glared at Qilin San with a gaze brimming with deep hatred. Before he could utter another word Ji Yao disappeared and reappeared in front of him.
PA!
A backhanded slap struck Qilin San and his body was sent flying into the cloud of dust. The force was so powerful that the cloud of dust parted. Huishe Xiyue who had just arrived to save her son saw a body rushing in her direction so she dodged to the side and the person flew by her.
