Meeting his mother in law.
He hurriedly broke the chains on Rui Fei's feet and got up while placing a barrier around his lover. A red see-through sphere glowed in the bamboo forest giving off a dazzling light.1
Rui Fei couldn't bear watching Ji Yao face off with four opponents on his own so he moved while engaging his aether to disrupt the barrier. Doing this was more damaging than helpful. His still healing aetherial veins collapsed when he tried to circulate seraphic energy through and his vision blackened.
Ji Yao who stood vigilantly outside the barrier drew his sword ready to defend his lover. With sweat dripping down his face he gazed at the figures with a glare so sharp you would think it would kill someone.
Short winded he grasped the hilt of his sword tightly preventing himself from transforming again into his true form. He was afraid in that state he won't be as rational as he was now.
Shaking his head with his eyes tightly shut he asked, "What do you want?"
The four figures appeared in front of him and the one leading looked exactly like Rui Fei. One glance and he could tell that this was his mother but... wasn't she dead? He had seen her earlier but at that time he just thought of Rui Fei and didn't try and speculate what kind of relationship she had with Rui Fei.
One of the three women standing behind Rui Fei's mother sneered and said, "Isn't that obvious," while drawing her weapon.
The light from the bright blade shining as bright as the brightest star reflected in Ji Yao's eyes and he could feel the murderous energy coming from it but he wasn't shaken.
Ji Yao, who had had enough pain and fear of loss asked, "But why? Why should you do this when we have done shit to you? Is it too much to ask to peacefully live with my lover? I don't know who the fuck you are or how we offended you but let me assure you.....anyone, who comes between me and him I will kill with no hesitation."
The woman who looked like Rui Fei suddenly shifted her gaze from the man within the red barrier and said, "State your goals."
Ji Yao who had been stared at straight by Huishe Xiyue replied, "I don't give a fuck about anything apart from him... I just want to live out the rest of my days with him. Is that too much to ask?"
As he said this his whip sword sizzled like when drops of water drip into a pan of hot oil at it's flashpoint. Huishe Xiyue took a step forward and with her hand stretched out in front of her she said, "Okay, okay that's fine. If that's all you wish for then I understand... Sister Fèihuà stand down."
The woman who had her weapon drawn withdrew it and snorted coldly. If it were her in charge she would have killed this person a long time ago but the Lord of the Celestials had put Sister Xiyue in charge of this mission.
Huishe Xiyue nervously glanced at Rui Fei who had passed out and said, "All we want is to talk this through and hopefully come up with a favourable conclusion. You say you don't care for anything else other than Ah-Fei then we can work with that."
Her voice was so calm and soothing with the warm touch of a mother's love making Ji Yao's violent emotions calmed down. He had this strong feeling that he could trust her.
"All we want is to facilitate a peaceful resolution and you..... you just want to live a good life with Ah-Fei so how about we talk about it in a civilized manner with both your parents involved? How is that?"
Ji Yao glimpsed over in Rui Fei's direction and asked, "You won't object to us being together?" Please don't blame him for asking this question. He had endured being separated from Rui Fei for so many years and if there could be a peaceful resolve he would accept it.
Huishe Xiyue glanced at her sisters drawing their weapons at Ji Yao. In a silent gesture, she instructed them to stand down before glancing back at Ji Yao.
"You must already know who I am, right?... I don't care about your clan, gender or age. All I care about is you being able to put a smile on Rui Fei's face. I wasn't there for him before but you... you rescued him from that devil and put a smile on his face. Believe me, I saw it all."
"If it weren't for you my son might have died in that demon's hands. So I more than support your relationship. I believe you when you say all you care about is being with Rui Fei," she said as she took a step closer.
"All I want you to do now is just calm down. I will take a look at Rui Fei and make sure he is safe and out of danger healthwise. These Celestials will restrain you so we can have a meaningful discussion in the presence of your clansmen and parents so we can come up with a favourable conclusion."
Ji Yao's whip sword retracted back into a sword as he turned to look at Rui Fei inside the barrier. It was true that all he cared about was him and anything else didn't matter. Since this person was Rui Fei's mother and she cared about Rui Fei as himself then he was willing to let go.
He sheathed his sword as his gaze remained transfixed on Rui Fei's face. He didn't even pay attention when his hands were cuffed by something much more powerful than latrion. He just watched Huishe Xiyue dash into the barrier without being affected and pull Rui Fei into her bosom.
She shifted her gaze in his direction and said, "I will take great care of him... I promise," while stroking Rui Fei's hair. This was her cub and they had been separated since the day she gave birth to him. Unlike other mothers, she didn't even have the chance to hug him or name him because she ascended against her will.
Ji Yao felt a sense of relief wash over him as they took him away. Even as they sat him on the round table with both his parents on either side his mind was still drifting off to the time Huishe Xiyue was embracing Rui Fei.
Rui Fei always wondered if his mother was still alive then would she protect him. Would she do anything in her power to protect him from his father? Now that Ji Yao had seen what Huishe Xiyue was willing to do he could safely say she would do whatever it takes to protect him from his father.
Ji Yao could only imagine Rui Fei's smile when he learns the truth. His mother loved him so much but she couldn't do anything to demonstrate her love apart from striking the soul of that creature.
