"Yao-ge, I promise I locked the door last night. Maybe he found a spare key or something. You get out of the quilt and talk to him. He can't see us like this," replied Rui Fei scared half to death. He knew Ji Wen would never be able to bite him but still, he didn't want to get into a fight with his father in law.

Ji Yao looked down at his chest covered with hickeys like they were on a buy one get one free sale or something. His face flushed in embarrassment as he peeked out of the blanket with only a fluffy head of hair and a pair of obsidian eyes. When he saw Ji Wen's darkly expression he retracted back into the quilt and whispered, "He is mad as fuck. What do I do?"

"Do you want to play possum for a while until he leaves?" said Rui Fei suggesting his most stupidest idea yet.

"You two realise that I can hear you, right?" spoke Ji Wen his voice hoarse as though suppressing something sinister. The two lumps under the quilt stiffened before Ji Yao emerged from under the quilt this time showing only his face.

"Ah we are.... we, ahem... I um," he stuttered and for the first time since he was three years old, Ji Yao was speechless in front of his father. The only other time he stuttered like that was when he was caught going through his father's things looking for clues about his mother's whereabouts.

Ji Wen's gaze fell on the lips that appeared swollen with a slight cut and he almost lost his shit. Afraid to see more than he should he said, "Your mothers have been waiting for you all day. We have a lot of things that need discussing and we can't go forward without you two," through gritted teeth. Only the heavens know how much self-restraint he had to conjure just to stop himself from exploding in anger.

He was happy the two of them were together and had found happiness with each other but he still wasn't resigned to the fact that his family's cabbage had been eaten clean with not even a stem left to show for it.

One slap.... one slap across Rui Fei's face was all he wanted in order to move on and give them his blessing. If not then he would settle for punishing him by making him drink the serpent's kiss as an apology. All he had to do was get Rui Fei away from Ji Yao.

"Get dressed and come meet with your elders," he said before turning on his heels and leaving the room. He was even polite enough to close the door for them.

"Phew... Baby, I thought your dad was going to challenge me to a one v one battle just now," said Rui Fei as he lifted the quilt off their bodies.

Ji Yao stared at him with an apologetic smile that held a lot of meaning. Rui Fei's brow furrowed as he asked, "What?..... What's wrong?"

"You shouldn't celebrate early. The fact that he couldn't explode now doesn't mean he will let it go. He is just waiting for an opportunity to strike," he replied before kissing Rui Fei's lips and continuing, "just stay by my side from now on and I promise I will protect you. He won't dare do anything if I am around."

These were the wild sounds of Ji Yao's heart after hearing such words. He was so mesmerised that he wouldn't mind giving Rui Fei a late breakfast. Ji Yao suddenly slipped out of Rui Fei's grasp and when Rui Fei opened his eyes he found Ji Yao on his knees ready to treat him to late breakfast.

While Ji Yao was servicing Rui Fei's engine on his knees, Ji Wen was on his third cup whining to his wife. "At least tell me that he was the one who did the deed," said Ji Wen with downturned lips.
