Ji Yao is unrivaled
"I am fine... just get off me. You are so heavy," complained Ji Yao as he pushed off his body.2
"That's not what you said last night though," replied Rui Fei with a sly grin as he got up to his feet. He stretched out his hand to help Ji Yao up only for his hand to be smacked away.
"That's because you hadn't broken my waist yet. Now you weigh a ton of bricks," he replied as he got up only for his face to stiffen when he saw the crowd. Rui Fei's expression was no better.
He subconsciously moved behind Ji Yao when he saw the vicious glare sent his way by Ji Wen. If looks could kill then Ji Yao would be a widow already. Ji Yao was so embarrassed but he still managed to put on a stern face that one wouldn't believe he was the very same person who was being pressed down a second ago and complaining about his waist.
Attempting to ease the tension Huishe Shushi walked over while saying, "Please everyone, carry on with whatever it is that you were doing," restoring the atmosphere in the main hall.
She came between Ji Yao and Rui Fei with a blossoming smile on her face and pulled them along to the table. She was the one always complaining that she won't have a great-grandchild and deep down in her heart hoped Rui Fei would marry a female from their clan but in truth, she supported whatever decisions her family made as long as it didn't hurt anyone.
Now that she had taken a closer look and seen how dashing Ji Yao was all she could think was, 'fuck having a female for a granddaughter in law. Ji Yao is unrivalled.' The last time she saw him from across the table he wasn't in his best state.
Due to the conflict of war, his face was covered in dirt from the building collapsing earlier and his hair was a hot mess making it difficult for one to see his true self past the layers of dirt. Now that he had cleaned up and become his regular self Huishe Shushi couldn't help but want to monopolize him and get to know her new in-law.
"Come, come sit by me. Nan, move over," she said chasing her husband away like she couldn't even recognize him, "you must be starving. I know doing such things would leave you so hungry that you could eat a whole cow."
Huishe Xiyue, "Mother!"
Huishe Nan, "???"
Huishe Yue, "Pfft..... hahaha."
Ji Yao who wanted to sit next to Rui Fei didn't know what to do. He just looked at Rui Fei his eyes almost yelling help me. Rui Fei was way ahead of him saying, "Nana, he is my wife and he should naturally sit by me... or on me," with the latter part of his sentence spoken in a mosquito-like voice.
BANG!
That was the sound of Ji Wen hitting the table. It's safe to say he heard it loud and clear and judging from his expression he was even more determined to get Rui Fei alone and make him drink serpent's kiss until he passes out.
"You haven't married yet so come here," ordered Ji Wen in a commanding tone that couldn't be disobeyed. Ji Yao who had never been spoken to like this by his father had his jaw-dropping to the floor in surprise. Let's not even mention Old Du who had also been invited to this family meeting.
He wished he could record this so he could show Big Hei and Xunshi Zhe the drama they missed. Qilin Hao kneaded her temple before beckoning Ji Yao over. If she didn't do that she was most certain Ji Wen would crawl over the table and try and strangle Rui Fei.
Ji Yao who for once wanted to rebel against Ji Wen could only grit his teeth and walk over to the other side with a dark expression. He sat between his mother and father wordlessly staring at Rui Fei from across the table.
Rui Fei who was also pulled down by Huishe Xiyue to sit was also staring at Ji Yao with an unmoving gaze. A hand held him with the person's fingers interlocking with his but he didn't notice.
Huishe Xiyue held his hand to get his attention but her son wouldn't even look at her. She hadn't even had the opportunity to see his face the day he was born and could only see him from afar unable to intervene.
His cries when he was in that dungeon as a newborn infant was so heartbreaking but no matter how much she reached over from the celestial realm she couldn't hold him. She was forced to watch him suffer as he grew up.
Now that he was here in person and wide awake she had a lot to say to him but Rui Fei's mind had already been taken over by love. And who could blame him? With the kind of damage inflicted on him in that dark cold place, it wasn't surprising he would hold onto the person he loves.
That was the only love Rui Fei felt after leaving that cold place so yes, he would hold on to it like it was the only ray of light. His love for Ji Yao could almost be described as obsessive. She was certain that if any of them tried to hinder their relationship her son would turn into a ferocious beast and kill everyone who dares stand in his way.
She wished more than anything that he would have a regular childhood but from the very start when he was conceived he was already at a disadvantage. Did she hate Prince Rui? Absolutely but she couldn't imagine a life without Rui Fei. Her son was, in essence, her world and she would do whatever it takes to make sure he has a happy ending.
"Fei-er, did you greet your mother," whispered Huishe Nan effectively bringing Rui Fei out of his trance.
He stared at his grandfather with a look of confusion for a while but felt something soft and warm squeeze his hand. When he looked down at his hand his body stiffened with a stinging feeling in his eyes.
To be honest he never held on to the hope of seeing his mother. He had no such aspirations in life but now that she was here in person his feelings were a little complicated.
Before he passed out the other day he had vaguely seen her face and instantly knew that she was his mother. But ever since he woke up he hadn't had time to think it over.
He had woken up because he smelt Ji Yao's fragrance hence didn't see that his mother took care of him and his wounds. Now that she was in front of him he didn't know how to feel. He didn't even know what to say.
