Double standards
In a destructed city upon a mountain overlooking the sparkly blue sea, the main hall of the imperial palace was even more disorderly than the city itself. Why? It was because key players in both worlds had heard the most absurd news. 0
Firstly, a half breed with a complicated blend of three bloodlines had decided to take on the task of becoming king of the Nocru.
This resulted in a myriad of mixed reactions considering the fact that they weren't as easily accepting of his Qilin bloodline and that his ascension to becoming ruler of all clans had been supported by an old system abolished thousands upon thousands of years ago.
Secondly, the half breed wanted to unify the two worlds as one. One can understand how that decision would rub some people the wrong way. There was strong opposition from all factions but based on his attitude this wasn't up for discussion.
Thirdly, the two worlds will be unified politically by marriage. The coupling ceremony had already been performed under the table cutting through lots of red tape and according to the laws of Niuq, they were unified as one already though a public ceremony would be of the essence so the rest of the world can serve as witnesses.
Ji Yao sat from up above with his fist propping up his cheek as he watched the various factions mumble either to themselves or yell at their opponents from across the room.
Ji Yao tapped the other armrest with his index finger waiting for them to finish. Rui Fei who was standing beside him brought over a cup of sweet water which he got from who knows where and gently nudged his shoulder.
"Here," he said with the cup right in front of Ji Yao.
"Huh?" responded Ji Yao absentmindedly looking up at Rui Fei before glancing back at the cup in front of him, "oh, thanks."
He took the cup from him and accidentally brushed their fingers together making Rui Fei's heart flutter as a tingly feeling crawled up his spine. He watched intently as Ji Yao's sapphire lips touch the rim of the cup and his adam's apple moved up and down as he drank the sweet liquid.
Mesmerized he subconsciously swallowed his saliva his thoughts rotten to the core. Who could blame him when every little action by the man he loves makes him want to do stuff. Ji Yao was right, all he thinks about is doing this and that to him.
Ji Yao was like a drug that he could never extricate himself from no matter what. With just a glimpse into his eyes, he would instantly become intoxicated and everything and everyone else becomes an insignificant backdrop.
"Ah-Fei, did you hear what I said?" asked Ji Yao after calling out to him for the nth time.
Rui Fei's IQ had flatlined ages ago. If it weren't for Ji Yao tapping the cup on Rui Fei's hand he might not have come out of it sooner. In fact, he might have leaned down and kissed Ji Yao on the lips. He wouldn't be shy about it either because he treated the crowd like air anyway.
"I said that this tastes really good. Is it from your grandmother?" he asked having not tasted such a refreshing sweet beverage before. This concoction left a cool refreshing feeling as it flowed down one's throat but once it hits the stomach it makes one feel warm and tingly inside with a heartwarming sweetness.
"Is it? Let me try it," he replied with an arched brow before taking away the half-drunk cup and taking a sip.
Ji Yao stretched out his hand to stop him but when he recalled that anything grandma Shushi made was meant to cater to the Huishe people he halted his movements. Rui Fei put on a contented expression as he placed his lips right where Ji Yao's were on the rim of the cup effectively awarding himself an indirect kiss.
As he drank from the cup he directly stared at Ji Yao making the man's face grow a little hot for some reason. Ji Yao felt like it was his lips that were being pressed on in place of the cup and because their gazes were locked together it was especially intense.
"It's very very sweet," whispered Rui Fei before handing the cup back to him. Rui Fei watched on as Ji Yao's lips touched the rim of the cup before taking a sip their gazes still locked together creating an ambiguous air. He subconsciously licked his lower lip before leaning down and whispering, "But your cock tastes way sweeter."
Ji Yao, "..."
Pssht!!!
The to be appointed King of the Nocru did a perfect spit take before coughing fervently attracting the entire main hall's attention. Rui Fei hurriedly took out one of Ji Yao's handkerchiefs he had stocked up and wanted to help him wipe his mouth.
Ji Yao refused him choosing to grab the handkerchief instead. "*Cough.... *cough, *cough I am..... *cough, I am fine," he said between coughs while wiping his mouth.
Rui Fei worriedly crouched down and gently rubbed Ji Yao's back soothingly. "I am so sorry. Are you okay?"
Ji Yao glared at him with teary eyes before saying, "Ahem... Go stand there. I will settle scores with you later."
Rui Fei wanted to protest but his hand was suddenly grabbed by his mother pulling him back. She just wanted to smack him upside his head for playing such tricks when they were in the middle of a serious discussion.
Unable to keep their grievances to themselves one of the clan leaders walked forward and directly rejected all three of his statements.
"We have discussed and have come to a unanimous decision. We don't want to bring back a system abolished thousands of years ago back to life. Things are great the way they are. Each clan has its own leader and we apply our own clan rules," said the older Nocru with a righteous air about him like he was fighting for justice.
Echoes of yeses and yeahs followed soon after supporting the clan leader who had just spoken on their behalf.
Ji Yao stared in their direction with an air of indifference about him like he wasn't the one being opposed. He continued to tap the armrest waiting for them to finish their little act.
"Just speak the truth. The real reason you all don't want the old system is because the awakened King is half Qilin. If he was Pixiu would you oppose him or if he was a Kunpeng. You would all be bowing before them in praise," yelled one of the Qilin nocru on the other side of the room.
"Fuckin double standards.....,"
"Prejudice...,"
Loud jeers of agreement followed soon after and the tension in the main hall spiked again.
"Of course, it's because of that. Even the Lord of the Celestials intervened because of your shitty clan," continued one of them only for Lord Tiāntǐ to raise his hands as though saying, "This has nothing to do with me and please leave my name out of it."
