Come
"It was your kind that tampered with the veil between the two worlds in the first place otherwise we wouldn't have been separated from our families and friend who wound up in this godforsaken place."2
"If it weren't for your stupid ambitions and your lousy grudges we wouldn't be here. There were also other clans that didn't get the opportunity to have a cub born with the Acany seed and awaken as King but you didn't see them start a war because of it."
The Qilin who had been torn through by the sharp words couldn't help but retort. "Ha! How interesting. Which clan among all of you doesn't have their ancestors portrayed in the hall of a Thousand Kings? Some of you even have more than a hundred ancestors in the hall."
"Only a few small clans didn't sit on the throne and they stood with us when you suddenly wanted to end the old system. A little too convenient, isn't it? Just when that stupid prophecy spread that the Qilin were to have a child of the inheritance you abolished the system."
When that man said this Ji Yao subconsciously glanced over at Lord Tiāntǐ who smirked while holding up his cup to toast him. Ji Yao's lips twitched in disgust as he looked away only for Rui Fei to block his view of the scumbag celestial before taking a step forward writhing in anger. Oh lord, this celestial was really testing Rui Fei's patience.
Ji Yao grasped Rui Fei's wrist and pulled him back. Rui Fei was about to shake his hand off having lost his senses when he looked back and met Ji Yao's eyes. "Come," Ji Yao said while pulling him closer.
Rui Fei couldn't understand what he meant and could only allow himself to be pulled along. Ji Yao pulled him to sit on the armrest. It's a good thing the quality of this prestigious seat was strong otherwise it would have broken under Rui Fei's weight.
Ji Yao's hand hugged Rui Fei's waist as his gaze shifted to the crowd gawking at them. At a glance, one could see diverse reactions. Some were of shame, others of embarrassment and others of reprimand. But the pair didn't give a toss. It was almost as though they weren't the ones who prompted that reaction.
The level of awkwardness in the main hall climbed up a notch but the conversation had to go on so Ji Yao asked, "Is that all?"
The pureblood who was leading the mob to burn the witches coughed to ease his embarrassment and said,
"We also oppose joining the worlds. You Qilin have already done enough. We agreed that things are best left as they are. We propose that we go back to Niuq and the Qilin can stay here with you as their King."
"That way we would also have gotten rid of the scourge that is the Qilin clan," echoed a warrior within the majority faction giving rise to boisterous laughter.
"Give up, you are already outnumbered," said another voice within the crowd.
The amount of disrespect stemming from that crowd had Rui Fei itching to put them in their place but the fingers gently brushing at the side of his waist calmed him down considerably. He knew Ji Yao had a plan so he could only endure it.
The Concord members who were well aware of Ji Yao's temper subconsciously started checking on the exits around them lest they are caught up in the line of fire. They were behaving like first-time fliers nervously checking the exits in the aeroplane cabin just in case things go south.
The lord of celestials on the other hand was so thrilled as he sat at the edge of his seat ready to watch the good show. This version of Ji Yao was the one he had been waiting for. That is to say, he was probably hanging around just to get a front-row seat. "Things are about to get interesting," he whispered to Xue Jie standing next to him. This look of excitement on his face was somewhat foreign to her that she subconsciously wanted to take a step back and pretend like she didn't know him.
He suddenly looked at her the smile on his face stiffening. "You do realise I can read your mind, right?" he said staring right at her making her knees weaken in fright. After a second or two of silence, he suddenly chuckled and said, "Ahahaha I am just messing with you.... or am I."
Xue Jie was so scared that she just wanted to go back to the comfort of the celestial realm. What on earth were they still doing here?
Ji Yao calmly opened his mouth to speak. "Outnumbered?... Let me ask you something. Have you ever considered how you are all going to go back to Niuq? I am just curious. Most of you waltzed through the portal with a righteous cause to eliminate evil and get justice but have you ever thought of the possibility that..., maybe...," shrugging his lips while pausing for effect, "you might never be able to go home?"
The clan members opposing Ji Yao flinched with their hearts twisting painfully. They knew the solution but his tone had them so terrified they actually believed they would be stuck in this place forever.
Their discomfort was only for a short moment as they recalled that they could always collect the keystones like how the Huishe clan instructed them too before. Besides, they had the Huishe Nan as a bargaining chip as he would also want to go back to Niuq.
The pureblood who mentioned them outnumbering Ji Yao and the Qilin clan before felt a little brazen so he said, "You think you can threaten us with that? We can always collect the keystones again in let's say.... six months and reopen the portal so we can go home."
A few elders nodded their heads patting his shoulders for phrasing it well but the rest had a sneaking suspicion that things weren't that simple.
As expected a sly smile crept up that cold handsome face. His glacier eyes lightly closed for a moment as peculiar energy gathered in the main hall. Everyone's hearts tightened as an eerie feeling crept up their spines.
Though the feeling was subtle and wouldn't force anyone to kneel it was still unnerving enough to grasp one's attention. When he opened his eyes they were as dazzling as the constellations yet terrifying enough to have one assume they would turn to stone if they looked into them.
Out of thin air, seven keystones appeared at the centre of the main hall rotating mid-air inside a ball of energy. Ji Yao's eyes returned to their usual self as he carried on to say, "Ha..... six months, right? Interesting."
Well, in conclusion, they are all fucked.
