The real boss around here

The blood-curdling screams of a once-powerful man slowly died down as his body disintegrated completely leaving behind faint sparkles that vanished quickly. 1

A faint red light remained at the place Qilin San once knelt. Strong seraphic energy radiated from it as it floated weakly towards the Lord of the Celestials. The sight was beautiful making one easily forget the grievous cries from before.

Lord Tiāntǐ let the faint light hover above his palm. He stared at it with a look of interest giving off the illusion that he planned on keeping it. His eyes were like that of a cat lover looking at a kitten. It looked like he was going to cuddle the little thing and adopt it.

Unfortunately, that was a far fetched thought. A yellow light emerged from the palm of his hand like fine mist soothing the red light.

Just when the red light calmed down an evil glint flashed in Lord Tiāntǐ's fox eyes and the yellow light burst forth like a flame engulfing the red light. It tried to struggle out of the man's evil clutches but there was no escaping its fate.

In an instant, the light vanished leaving the audience cowering in fright. That was Qilin San's divine sense or in other words his soul. They had just witnessed his soul get crushed cutting him off completely from the cycle of reincarnation.

The Lord of the Celestials smiled having achieved his goal which was not only punishing the wicked but also instilling fear in the hearts of these beasts. His meaningful gaze shifted to Ji Yao who was watching what he was doing with an air of indifference. His warning extended to Ji Yao but the delivery of the message wasn't as effective.

Annoyed he said, "I take it his majesty will be able to make a decision concerning Qilin Kai's matters."

Ji Yao's fingers resting on the armrest curled into the hardwood but his expression remained indifferent. Others didn't understand but he understood the meaning of his words. If Ji Yao decides to punish Qilin Kai then he should also punish his mother.

Why? It was because they were both pawns of Qilin San and had committed grievous crimes under his rule. They were coerced and manipulated into submission doing Qilin San's dirty work. Whether they should or shouldn't be held accountable was yet to be determined.

After saying this the Lord of the Celestials smiled like a fiend before vanishing on the spot. The other three celestial beings behind him naturally followed suit but Huishe Xiyue remained behind. The main hall was suddenly filled with gasps as they watched the bright lights engulfing the three figures die down.

Ji Yao's eye twitched in annoyance. He just wanted to get out of here. He had led a fleet of pirate ships when his father was out of commission but still, it wasn't as headache-inducing as dealing with celestial beings and pig-headed Nocru.

"You, come here," he said to the mouthy prime minister who had scolded him for sitting on the dragon throne.

The old man was a little hesitant but when he was met by a vicious gaze from a pair of eyes similar to Emperor Yu's he shivered before scurrying over like his life depended on it. "This, this.... this servant is at your disposal," he said his forehead knocking on the ground.

The things he had seen today had opened his eyes removing the naivety that was obstructing his vision. Their world will never go back to what it was like before. These powerful beings were hell-bent on staying and there was nothing the human race could do.

Since that was the case then it would be good to have someone who has their interests in mind to sit in the position of power.

Rui Fei didn't seem to have any special attachment to the imperial court mainly because everyone watched coldly on as emperor Yu and emperor Rui ruined his life.

The public didn't know what the then prince Rui was doing but the court officials were well aware. Because he was doing this to half blood and pure blood Nocru women they looked the other way as it had nothing to do with them.

They knew what Rui Fei witnessed and the horrors that took place within the walls of that Pavilion but what could they do? The then emperor didn't care so why should they worry themselves over unimportant matters.

Now the fate of Hyesong continent rested in this person's hands. They had to butter him up so their situation would be slightly favourable. But this old fart was also a smart person.

He noticed fairly quickly that the person he was supposed to be obsequious towards was this man sitting on the throne. Ji Yao was the true boss here and as long as he is happy then Rui Fei would be satisfied. Thus he kowtowed to his lowest point not daring to get up without Ji Yao's approval.

Ji Yao had no idea how palace etiquette worked or their mannerisms of speaking. In the Concord, he didn't have to observe any rules. He could speak however he wanted with his elders.

Even if he was to call Zhang Li by his name no one would care. In fact, when he addressed them as Captain they would instantly wilt afraid that they committed some atrocity. It was similar to when a parent calls their child by their full name. If you hear that then you know you are fucked.

"You will work with Zhanglang of the concord in supplying relief resources to the imperial city and other affected areas. To clean and rebuild refer to Zhang Li and Lady Ching Sei of the concord," he said while looking in the direction of the captains who were sitting with one foot at the door.

How can he not know what they were thinking? They thought he was going to rain a blazing lightning storm upon them and had already initiated their exit strategies.

"Ye, yes your highness. This servant understands," replied the prime minister further shrinking down. He was right. As long as he got on Ji Yao's good side then their luck would turn for the better.

After saying this Ji Yao got up and said, "You have a day to decide. We will reconvene same time tomorrow so you can tell me what you have decided." He just wanted to get out of this suffocating space and relax his mind.

Meanwhile, the Lord of the Celestials wasn't at all relaxed. His stress level reached an all-time high after he reached the Celestial realm. Xue Jie wanted to inquire as to why Huishe Xiyue didn't come back with them but seeing his expression she couldn't bring herself to ask.
