"Meh"
While things were getting steamy somewhere in a tiny room in the imperial palace something big was about to happen. 1
One would describe it as the clash of the titans while others would shrug their shoulders and say, "Meh, it's just a son in law interacting with his father in law for the first time. How bad can it be?"
Whether you are the clash of the titans faction or the 'meh' faction it was most definitely going down.
And how did Ji Wen manage to get Rui Fei away from Ji Yao? It was pretty simple actually. He was kidnapped. Where? In the kitchen, while he was making snacks for Ji Yao. Rui Fei fully understood the principle of 'happy wife happy life'. If he wanted Ji Yao to wear whatever it is that was in that box, he needed to have him in an excellent mood.
Who doesn't know that if you want to get your partner to do something unusual for you, you need to soften them up first and when they are happy as a kitten lazing in the sun then you can approach and pat them as much as you like? Attack their weaknesses and gain the benefits.
But who would have thought before he could make one of his grandmother's masterpieces he would be grabbed by the Concord members and disappear for the rest of the day.
Ji Yao who found his tail had been missing for a long time tried to look for him but because of Ji Wen's second phase in his plan his son was distracted. The second phase of his plan involved the Huishe couple. He somehow managed to plant the idea in their heads that they needed to get to know their new in-law.
Through a series of planned coincidences, Ji Yao found himself sitting here with Huishe Nan, Huishe Shushi and Huishe Xiyue in an awkward atmosphere.
Let's just say Ji Wen wouldn't have been able to pull this off if it weren't for Qilin Hao. She was tired of her husband's whining and thought it would be a great idea to allow Ji Wen to air out his grievances and hopefully accept his new in-law after talking it out.
Her idea was good but the execution was very very bad. It turns out Ji Wen needed supervision because the minute he saw Rui Fei his childish side manifested itself. One might ask how bad was it? Well, it was something the entire Concord will never forget.
Rui Fei was brought over to a desolate part of the imperial palace after Old Du knocked him out with who knows what. When he woke up after Old Du made him sniff something he saw Ji Wen standing right in front of him inside a small arena that must have been used for training by the imperial guards.
Rui Fei was a little surprised considering that Ji Wen was standing there shirtless with his fiery curly head of hair tied up for once. Though it wasn't neatly tied it at least showed his face much more clearly.
In the stands were the Concord members jeering on while others placed bets. To his surprise, his siblings were also mingling in the stands cheering him on. His brow furrowed as he asked Rui Yewan, "What are you doing here?"
Rui Yewan curved both his hands into crescents making a makeshift megaphone around his mouth and said, "We heard about yesterday and came here to support you."
Support for doing what exactly? Beat up his father in law. He was sure if he won over Ji Wen the man wouldn't be happy and if he threw the match Ji Wen would be even more displeased. Did every son in law have to go through the same thing as he was when they meet their in-laws? Did they get shoved into a ring and ordered to fight.
"Don't worry dage... Saozi will still love you no matter the outcome. Whooo," said Rui Li before screaming in excitement. She took out some money and handed it over to Xunshi Zhe. "Quickly, put that one on a tie."
Xunshi Zhe was a little startled. Everyone could clearly see that Ji Wen's physic was much stronger than Rui Fei's. The winner here was already determined yet she chose to bet that they would end in a tie. Was she blind?
"It took you long enough," said Ji Wen with a loud shing as he unsheathed his Sabre and tossed it into Big Hei's hands. For a moment Rui Fei actually thought Ji Wen was going to slash his throat and he was ready to draw his weapon. But before he could take out his double-bladed sword to defend himself Ji Wen tossed his sabre away.
"We are going to have a physical fight..... no one is allowed at any point to engage their aether. Whoever is unable to free themselves at the count of five loses," explained Ji Wen as he tightened the cloth wrapped around his wrist and forearm.
Rui Fei's brow quirked up hearing this. He knew Ji Wen was going to make things difficult for him but he just didn't think he would choose this method. Since this is what it would take to marry Ji Yao then he would gladly do it.
This was the easiest step because to him the hardest part was actually getting Ji Yao to fall in love with him. He took out his double-bladed sword and walked over to Rui Yewan handing it over. "You two could have warned me in advance," he whispered to the both of them through gritted teeth.
"Ah dage, that would ruin the fun and besides, we already gave you the greatest gift ever so what do you want? Now go fight your father in law," said Rui Li pumping her fist to encourage him.
"And don't hold back. We can be your witnesses to Yao-ge later. We will say you were lenient and didn't hit his father too hard," said Rui Yewan while packing away Rui Fei's double-bladed sword.
Ji Wen thought he was trying to get one of them to call Ji Yao over and save him so he said, "By the time they find Ah-Yao it will already be too late. You should fight honestly and prove that you are worthy of my son."
"I wasn't asking them to go and call him... I accept your challenge as long as you don't expect me to hold back," he replied as he took a few steps forward.
Ji Wen chuckled with both his hands resting on his waist looking like a rogue ready to beat some sense into a delinquent. "I don't expect you to," he replied with a sneer.
"Then I won't be polite. This elder shouldn't blame me then," after Rui Fei said this Ji Wen charged forth like an angry bull seeing red. He had been waiting for this day for a very very long time and he couldn't wait to beat Rui Fei's ass up.
In large powerful strides he reached over to tackle Rui Fei but the kid dodged to the side. He was fairly quick on his steps but Ji Wen was much more. He hurriedly shifted his body and swept Rui Fei's leg in the process and bam Rui Fei fell to the ground.
