An ominous prediction

The more he tried to see the future the more his power was drained out of his body. Despite sacrificing so much he still couldn't see anything and it was all thanks to this pair standing in front of him.1

Ji Yao wasn't especially happy this time as his leisure period with his crew got disturbed hence his mood was the least bit polite today. This meant his face wasn't really good when he saw the person he disliked the most sitting on the dragon throne.

The only difference was that this time the Lord of the Celestials wasn't as confident as before. He seemed a little haggard and though he tried to hide it there was a hint of worry in his eyes. His playful attitude from before had all but vanished.

Rui Fei found a little pleasure in seeing him like this and he didn't even hide it. A slight smile showed on his face as he asked, "You look like you got dumped. Feeling a little lovelorn?"

Lord Tiāntǐ's face turned ugly as he retorted back, "How would you know? Do you have some sort of secret crush that you have been hiding from your darling over there."

Rui Fei, "....."

Of course not. This baby was as pure as ever. He only had one person he ever liked in his entire life and that person was his first and only love. "One look at you and I can tell. It's so obvious," replied Rui Fei hoping Ji Yao won't misunderstand.

He only ever loved him, unlike Zhang Ci who was fickle in nature. What he didn't realise was that it was because of Zhang Ci's fickleness that he had one less competitor.

"Of course, you would know. You have a whole lot of experience in that department," replied Lord Tiāntǐ with a sly smile that looked more forced than anything.

"What do you want?" asked Ji Yao interrupting their little banter. If they keep arguing like this it would start looking like a lover's spat.

Lord Tiāntǐ's expression turned even darker as he leaned forward with his elbows resting on his knees and his hands clasped together his index fingers resting on his lips. "You two really screwed everything up. I should have taken the risk from the start and chopped you down before you could cause trouble...," he said his gaze shifting between the two of them.

Ji Yao directly unsheathed his sword his expression as fierce as a viper about to strike down its prey. "It's a bit too late for regrets now. If you like you can try," said Ji Yao as the electric blaze spread to the tip of the blade.

Rui Fei wasn't idle as well. He was ready to fight this celestial being to the death but before the fight he had been itching for even started, Lord Tiāntǐ spoke up his voice as indifferent as before.

"Down boy, I am not here to pick a fight with you. I am the least of your worries and whatever you are going to do.... do it fast because when the tide hits it is going to hit hard and you will need to strike it with everything you have got."

Hearing such ominous words Ji Yao's body felt like it was being immersed in ice-cold water infiltrating every nerve ending in his body. He couldn't understand it.

He had done absolutely nothing wrong yet the universe thought otherwise. Was it that he shouldn't have been born or that he shouldn't have found love so as to not attract trouble? But weren't these things his basic rights as a living being?

Why was it that when it comes to him doing what other people could do it would attract trouble? He wasn't a normal person hence he was bound to lure not so normal things.

He was well aware ever since he was born that things wouldn't proceed smoothly for him but it just wasn't easy to accept.

Lord Tiāntǐ got up from the throne and walked towards him in heavy footsteps his expression unreadable. He stopped right beside him facing the opposite direction as he said, "if you are still planning to join these two worlds I suggest you do it now because you will need as much help as you can get."

After saying that the worn-out celestial walked a few steps forward, locked gazes with Rui Fei before his figure vanished into thin air.

An ominous feeling swept past Rui Fei's body as he looked straight into those dark soulless eyes. He knew then that this man wasn't fucking around. Something big was coming and it was coming soon.

Lord Tiāntǐ reappeared in his space in the celestial realm and as soon as he stepped past the threshold he collapsed as he coughed up a mouthful of blood.

He had truly abused himself these past few days trying to see into the future again but all his efforts were fruitless. Instead, he was only hurting himself. Now that he had said what he wanted to say he wilted like a flower cut off from its life source.

While Lord Tiāntǐ was thinking through his life choices, Ji Yao spun around his steps fast and heavy.

"Baby, baby.... what are you doing? Where.....," yelled Rui Fei before rushing over to catch up with him. In two strides he stood in front of Ji Yao blocking his path and held his shoulders while asking worriedly, "Where..... where are you going?"

Ji Yao's stern expression melted instantaneously with a ripple of emotions in his dark eyes. He would have suppressed his dissatisfaction like always but this time because he had someone to lean on he broke down.

"Why do things like this keep happening to us. Is it too much to ask to have a simple normal life free of worries and stress? My mother abandoned me and I accepted it. I lost my father and had to travel the entire continent to find the keystones. I accepted that too. I got stabbed in my aether and that.... I accepted too. Weren't those tribulations enough? Huh?"

Rui Fei felt his heartache hearing this but he felt helpless. He could only pull Ji Yao into his arms and comfort him. He also wanted things to be simple but from the moment he was born he knew he didn't have such a privilege. It was a blessing that he actually found such a beautiful thing as love thus he cherished Ji Yao so much.

Seeing him break down like this his heart bled from a wound that would never heal. All he could murmur was, " I love you.... I love you..... you aren't alone, okay? You have me. Baby, you have me."
