Joining the two worlds

As a cool breeze came through the window and swept past them Ji Yao's eyes suddenly reddened. They stung so much with his tears threatening to fall.0

He told himself that he shouldn't show this kind of emotion in the open but he wanted to shed his outer layer in front of his lover and expose his vulnerable side.

Thus he let it all go with his hands wrapped around his lover. His body suddenly felt lighter like a heavy burden had been lifted off his shoulders.

The fragrant scent coming from his lover infiltrated every sense of his body and like aromatherapy, it calmed all the violent emotions bubbling within him.

Then he suddenly saw himself standing in the middle of a familiar canola field. This was a place of comfort for him but after he met Rui Fei it became their place of solace.

After a fairly long time, Rui Fei asked in a gentle whisper, "What should we do next?"

Ji Yao nuzzled Rui Fei's neck with a light whimper before saying, "Let's open it.... after that you can marry me and the responsibility of two worlds will rest on our shoulders."

His tone sounded a little coy as he pulled Rui Fei further into his arms his nose gently brushing against the side of Rui Fei's neck. Rui Fei greedily inhaled the fragrance from his body with his hand pressed to Ji Yao's back moving up to the bottom of his neck.

"I come with a lot of baggage and I can't give you babies... Are you sure you want to spend the rest of your life with me? Once you go through this process there will be no turning back," whispered Ji Yao before kissing the man's neck.

Rui Fei felt a tingly sensation spread from were those soft lips touched down his entire body. "I don't mind. All I want is to be with you..... nothing else matters."

Hearing this Ji Yao chuckled. This man had a way with words that would make one fall in love with him.

Such a person could have hordes of people, men or women, flocking around him to get his attention. If it weren't for his cold sharp gaze and that chilling aura surrounding his body he would have attracted a lot of bees.

"Then let's go," he said no longer caring what the clan members decide. Just as they parted the door of the main hall opened and hordes of clan members walked in.

It seemed they had come to a decision and were gathering to speak to Ji Yao. But they didn't expect the pair to be here doing who knows what in the main hall.

The remaining traces of warmth on Ji Yao's face vanished replaced by a formidable aura that had most of them contemplating whether to run to the door and make a break for it or stay put playing possum.

But his sharp gaze made their bodies freeze in place so much that even breathing was difficult.

Ji Yao already knew that the scale had tipped and their opinions didn't matter.

With a dangerous look in his eyes, he walked past them with Rui Fei by his side. Behind him, he could hear loud cries of disapproval. Some elders seemed to read the situation in the room. They understood instantly what he was going to do but that wasn't the agreement.

"We have chosen to vote," said one of the Pixiu leaders leading the crowd as they followed them. Qilin Hao was standing in the hallway worriedly looking in their direction. When she saw him she met him halfway as she unsheathed her sword.

She stopped beside him staring at the crowd of clan leaders and their warriors following her son. With a sly quirk on her lips, she asked, "What are your orders.... your majesty."

The moment she met his eyes she knew something had changed. The decisive and domineering aura surrounding him spoke volumes.

It was as though a switch had been flipped in his body. No one had to say it. It was obvious she was in the presence of a king.

"I am going to join our worlds. Stop anyone who tries to interfere," he said before slightly shifting his gaze towards her. Qilin Hao understood. A ferocious blaze spread to the tip of the blade as it extended into a whip. She was ready to beat the shit out of these elders.

Ji Yao led the way with Rui Fei beside him. Behind him, he could hear his mother say, "Protect the King..... anyone who opposes his rule will die by my hand." As soon as she said that her whip cracked ripping through the air with a terrifying sound. Soon after a group of Qilin warriors rushed over and stood beside her barricading their path.

"Where are you going to do this?" asked Rui Fei as they got further and further away from the main hall.

Ji Yao who was following the feeling circulating in his aether like following a GPS signal said, "I don't know. I am just following this feeling. It's kind of hard to explain."

Rui Fei nodded his head following behind his footsteps. He was just looking back worriedly because some of those faces in the crowd had a very terrible look in their eyes. It seemed they truly opposed Ji Yao's idea of joining the worlds and would do anything to stop him.

While he was lost in thought his hand was suddenly grabbed and he came back to himself. Ji Yao was holding his hand leading him somewhere. The more he walked the more familiar he felt. This was the place where Ji Yao ran to while carrying him the day he was attacked by Qilin San.

It was the bamboo forest acclaimed to be a place of romance and scandalous rendezvouses but for the both of them, it was a place with a terrible memory. Unlike the two of them for Zhang Li, it was a place for happy endings *wink *wink.

The two of them walked deeper and deeper into the forest with a lot of thoughts racing into their minds. Rui Fei was still a little worried so he asked, "Baby, how are you planning on opening it? Do you need those pillars and the keystones?"

Ji Yao wasn't at all impatient. He answered his question as detailed as possible. "I only need the keystones which are now in my command. That day they scattered but I just need to channel the seraphic energy linked to the Acany seed that makes me a king and summon them," he said before he suddenly stopped.

The place was slightly cleared and the forest was less dense in this area. There seemed to be nothing special about this place but Ji Yao felt a strong magnetic feeling pulling him toward this place.

"Will it hurt you?" asked Rui Fei as Ji Yao knelt to the ground his eyebrows scowled and his eyes focused like something was drawing him in.

His eyes closed as a white light escaped from the palm of his hand and onto the ground. The light beams slowly seeped into the soil which was soaking the light in like it absorbs water. The more energy it drew from Ji Yao's body the more greedy it became.

What started as a slow flow into the soil gradually accelerated and Ji Yao's expression changed slightly. Rui Fei also noticed so he crouched down beside Ji Yao and called out to him.

"Yao-ge, are you okay?" he asked but when there was no response he began to worry even more.

"Baby... babe," he said gently rubbing his back. Maybe it was the touch or the soft call that had him coming out of his trance. Whatever it was it brought him back to himself as he forcibly cut the connection.

His hand was trembling from the experience and he could only clench it to reduce the tremors. He also didn't want Rui Fei to worry so he thought by clenching it Rui Fei wouldn't notice but he was especially sensitive to every move of Ji Yao's right now.

He suddenly didn't want Ji Yao to do this. He couldn't watch his lover go through another terrible experience again so he spoke up, "You can't? You will get hu-."

But before he could say the last word Ji Yao interjected saying,

"You have to protect me. I will be in the most vulnerable state when I do this so you have to protect me....."

Rui Fei felt a tightness in his chest as he stared at Ji Yao his eyes a little watery. "I, I can't le.....," he said with his eyes stinging as he struggled to suppress his emotion but a tear still managed to flow down his cheek.

Ji Yao reached out with his trembling hand wiping away his tear saying, "We are not normal people..... that means if we want normal lives we have to work extra hard to obtain that. Only the heavens know how badly I want to just swoop you up in my arms and run away with you leaving everything behind."

"But we can't. This is the price we have to pay for our future together and I am willing to do anything for us."
