After so much excruciating pain and pushing his body beyond his limits, Ji Yao suddenly felt the negative effects. He had extensively abused his body ripping apart the barrier that separates the two worlds thus when his body was laid down on the bed he slept like the dead. 1

If it weren't for the steady breathing Rui Fei would have thought he was deceased. Recalling how this man had offered to give him his most priced possession while pinching his nipple under his clothes, Rui Fei couldn't help but laugh.

He found it rather amusing. He couldn't even fathom what kind of life he would have had without Ji Yao. In truth, he would have most probably died under his father's hand. Without this man, his life would be miserable. Rui Fei brought over a basin of hot water and a piece of cloth to Ji Yao's bedside.

He tentatively wiped Ji Yao's body while occasionally eating some tofu. One can count this as payback after being groped incessantly by his lover while carrying him.

Rui Fei didn't stop at just that. He went as far as massaging Ji Yao's body with an external healing ointment he found in the storage ring. After that, he tucked him in and walked out of the captain's cabin.

Outside it was very difficult to even see his hand right in front of him. If it weren't because he was Huishe he wouldn't have been able to see his hand in the thick dense clouds of dust.

Within the murk, he could see the sun dancing on the horizon. The sun was about to set and the heavy rain had stopped but there were still violent winds.

Sensing something Rui Fei closed his eyes and listened carefully. He could hear the voices of people getting up from underneath the rubble and trying to find shelter from the violent storm. But this wasn't what he was looking for. It was just that it was difficult to find what he was looking for in the chaotic mess.

With a slight tilt of his head, Ji Yao suddenly saw what he was sighting after. Along the vast expanse where Niuq began hordes of pure blood Nocru emerged with their weapons in hand. Rui Fei could sense their hostility from afar.

It seemed they had been guarding this place for a very long time riddled with anxiety. Their clan leaders had been gone longer than they should have and without such leadership then their clans would descend into chaos.

Thus these brave warriors had been camping here for who knows how long. Rui Fei couldn't care less about them. He took a step back and decided to make a light meal for Ji Yao.

He had only specialized in making sweet desserts for Ji Yao but he was willing to try making a healthy meal for him. How hard could it be, right?

Well, wrong! After three two four attempts he finally managed to make something decent and the only way he managed to make it taste bearable was because he added some sugar. If it weren't for that he didn't think Ji Yao would have been able to swallow it.

He suddenly wished there was some kind of powder that could instantly turn into a tasty and nutritious soup after simply adding hot water. Unfortunately, his line of thought was way ahead of his time. This way he wouldn't have to struggle in the kitchen to make something he wasn't good at.

He surely hoped Ji Yao would be able to stomach it otherwise it would take a toll on his self-esteem. It turns out he was overthinking it because Ji Yao was what one would call a whipped boyfriend.

As long as Rui Fei's food didn't taste like poison he would clean his bowl even in a half-awake half-asleep state.

Ji Yao was especially obedient letting Rui Fei feed him a spoonful at a time. Seeing this Rui Fei felt so guilty that he vowed to find the chef after this and drag him back to Red Valkyrie. His baby deserved the best and under their current circumstances, he couldn't provide him with that.

Two days went by like this. Rui Fei nursed Ji Yao back to health ignoring the noise happening on land. The dust had settled a little but things were in no way close to returning to normal. Like little blood-sucking parasites his siblings had even come on board with the rest of Red Valkyrie's crew.

In fact, most of the crew of the Concord had returned to the comfort of their fleet. That's because the dust was a bit unbearable in the imperial city. They were simply waiting for the smog to clear so they can go and make the imperial palace habitable again.

The Huishe leader and his wife had been invited in aboard Blue Urchin, their future in law's ship so Rui Fei didn't have to worry much.

Other than the first day that the Nocru warrior passed through the now opened barrier onto the earth there weren't any further activities.

Rui Fei understood that this was only for now. As stubborn as those clans were when they heard Ji Yao's plans there might be some resistance. As expected the day Ji Yao woke up there was a lot of noise in the imperial city.

Rui Fei wanted to hide all this from Ji Yao who had barely recovered but he had seriously underestimated his lover's senses. Ji Yao's senses especially after absorbing the power from Niuq were especially sharp.

While lying on the bed with Rui Fei's limbs wrapped around his body Ji Yao sensed something sinister lingering in the air.

Unable to ignore it he tapped Rui Fei's arm and asked, "What's going on outside?"

Rui Fei, "....."

"It's nothing. Just lie down some more, okay?" he said trying to divert his lover's attention from the uprising happening on land. But in as much as he wanted to buy some time for his lover to rest trouble found them.

No one knew how trouble found their address but now that it was here there was no running away from it.

Ji Yao sat up straight when he heard a gentle knock on the door of his cabin. Rui Fei who had been disturbed was a little dissatisfied. He was so dissatisfied that he tried to coax Ji Yao into lying back down but unfortunately, it didn't work.

"Who is it?" asked Ji Yao as he lifted the quilt and a pair of long muscular legs stepped out from underneath the quilt. Seeing this Rui Fei grabbed his wrist tightly while whispering, "Where do you think you are going looking like that? Are you trying to showcase the goods to everyone?"

Ji Yao, who was sitting at the edge of the bed while flipping his long hair back looked at Rui Fei and said, "Showcase what goods? I was going to stand by the door and hear them clearly."

Rui Fei heaved a big sigh as he lay back down but he didn't let go of Ji Yao's wrist. "You better not. That's private property," he whispered with a smirk on his face.

Ji Yao was about to retort when a reluctant voice spoke from behind the door. "Ah-Yao, we have a small problem."

That was the sound of Ji Wen speaking but right after he said that Ji Yao discovered he wasn't alone. His father's voice was followed by a feminine voice that could only belong to Qilin Hao saying, "Small, small...?"

"Ouch, use your words," complained Ji Wen when his arm was suddenly smacked by Qilin Hao. It wasn't painful but when did Ji Wen ever miss the opportunity to be dramatic?

"It is not a small problem. If he doesn't come out and scare the shit out of these idiots war will be inevitable." As she said this she glanced over at the Qilin and Huishe clan standing at the same side and the rest holding their pitchforks as though ready to burn the witches.

This was bad. Very very bad and Ji Yao was the only one who could fix it. The Qilin clan had been public enemy number one for thousands and thousands of years. One can only imagine the conflict between both sides the moment they met. 

What made it worse was that the Huishe clan that had rallied everyone to come here and slay the monster that is the Qilin clan had sided with them slapping their own faces. This was both ridiculous and puzzling.

The rest of the clans couldn't understand what was going on. What sort of witchcraft would have the Huishe siding with the enemy? The clan leaders of the various clans tried to explain that the Nocru had a new king and that the person was from the Qilin clan.

This explained part of it but was still not enough to convince most of them. That's because they hadn't experienced the compulsion of the Nocru King.

They naively thought it would be easy to depose an illegitimate king, especially with their numbers hence this wasn't enough for the Huishe to jump ship and act all buddy-buddy with the Qilin clan forgetting past grievances.

Since that reason wasn't good enough they mentioned the relationship between the half breed with both the Qilin and Raiju bloodline as well as the half breed Huishe. Some could understand this that is until they found out that the couple was of two males. None of these reasons were acceptable enough for them to make sense of this unlikely friendship.

Whatever the reason, valid or not the rest of the clans didn't care. They wanted to complete their initial task and tear the Qilin apart.
