Wedding stereotypes
Weddings, weddings, weddings..... Important things need to be repeated three times. People know that at every wedding one should expect stereotypical relatives that make the ceremony rather interesting. 0
One should expect an uncle who gets drunk quickly before the groom even says I do. That means they would have been drinking prior to the ceremony and the liquor would kick in in the middle of the procession.
That uncle in this scenario was none other than Zhang Li. He was behaving like he was marrying off his daughter.
Words like, "He has barely come out of his diapers wuwuwuwu..... now he is already getting married," came out of his mouth as he sat there watching Lan Wu and Huishe Yue walking down the aisle dressed in blue ombre robes that were as majestic as the blue skies above their heads.
Everyone around him stared at him with a look that could only be translated as 'WTF'. Why was he acting like he was marrying off Zhang Ci? Even Zhang Ci was so embarrassed that he distanced himself from his father and covered his peripheral view with his hand so he couldn't witness his father being overly dramatic.
To be fair last night they had a hen party equivalent and drank till dawn. Come morning and Zhang Li was still drinking like a fish earning him the title of the drunk uncle at the wedding. If it weren't for Lady Ching Sei consoling him he might have wailed like a crazy person and ran over to hug Lan Wu's thigh.
Next up is that one tomboy cousin who for some reason hates wearing a dress but because their mother forced them to they had to wear one. That award at this wedding belongs to.... drama roll, please..... Brrrrrrrrr..... Rui Li.
The only difference was that it wasn't her mother who forced her to wear a dress but rather Rui Fei. One would ask, 'why would Rui Fei intervene in this?' That's because he made a deal with Rui Yewan. Follow up question..... why would Rui Fei put himself in the middle of this sticky situation? That's because Rui Yewan saw what Rui Fei was hiding and managed to convince him to take revenge on his behalf and force their sweet baby sister to wear a dress.
Not only that but Rui Fei managed to convince her to put on makeup to Huishe Shushi's delight. She looked so pretty that even the Concord who had spent a good amount of time with her couldn't recognize her. That was until they saw her stiff movements as she stood in front.
Maybe it was because of the cold air streaming in from underneath the skirt that she kept tsking her expression like that of a person who had endured great suffering.
It wasn't just the dress, she also kept tugging at the bracelets she was forced to wear. All the while she wasn't focused on the couple getting married but on her brothers who were the cause of her misery.
Next up would be the auntie that won't stop crying at weddings. Without them then it wouldn't be considered a wedding. That auntie happened to be an unlikely candidate. Huishe Xiyue was tearing up out of joy. She wasn't even this emotional at Huishe Yue's first wedding. Now she was crying her eyes out while throwing rice at this new couple. It took Huishe Shushi nudging her to remind her that this wasn't a funeral.
Another wedding favourite is that random person in the wedding photos that appears on almost every frame. It was as though they were actively following the cameramen. But since there weren't any cameras in this era that award would go to Tong Tong. And yes he was still around considering that Lan Wu was his captain who took him in in that strange land called earth.
How did he come to win this award? It was because he kept following Lan Wu wherever he went. Each time he would be found in the grooms' vicinity at an acceptable distance. But because he kept following the around everyone eventually noticed.
Let's not forget that one auntie who would be judging girls' outfits with her cold gaze. Either she would be thinking that person is wearing too little and if they are wearing enough she would think they are dressed inappropriately. It's that kind of aunt who appoints herself as honorary fashion police.
She might not directly say anything but she would be following you with her eyes judging the heck out of you. The award went to Qilin Kai's wife.
Oh, and there is that random relative who would take over the reception dance floor and dance themselves to oblivion. And here is the thing, that relative usually thinks that they can dance but that's not what everyone else sees. Within that self-expression, there is a sort of cringe factor that comes with it.
Now imagine if they were two of those dancing relatives. That award belonged to Big Hei and Xunshi Zhe. These two committed a great offence at this lovely wedding. Their dance left everyone with their mouths wide open in shock. If only they were some way to record this tragedy so one could replay it for them later. After suffering through that they would never do this at Rui Fei's wedding.
And last but not least we have the fighting couple. That is the husband and wife who are always fighting at a wedding. Their fight wouldn't be like the loud kind that would draw everyone's attention. But it would be more like an 'I glare at you and you coax me' type of fight. One doesn't even need to mention names to know who it was.
Ji Yao had been ignoring Rui Fei and with good reason. He knew that the man was up to something but he didn't like surprises, especially the kind of surprises where one is acting suspicious.
I mean come on, he already knew something was up so it won't be a surprise anymore. Rui Fei might as well tell him but we all know that wasn't going to happen.
