31: Back From The Dead

Back From The Dead

Once those particular words reached my ears, I immediately perked up at that.2

The zombie apocalypse has arrived. I mean, this had to be it.

Once the kid had said those words, the boy seemed to have a breakdown, sinking to his knees as he began to cry on the floor. The rest of the students just watched him, unnerved at what they were currently looking at.

That was the moment when the school intercom suddenly turned on, traveling across the entire building. "This announcement is for all of the students. A-An emergency situation is taking place inside of the school right now. All of the students must follow their teacher's instructions and evacuate. I repeat, a violent incident is taking place inside of the school right now-"

I couldn't help but wince to myself after the speakers released a high-pitched whine and overlapped with what the teacher was saying, creating an ominous period of silence At least, that was until the microphone picked up on the sound of someone or something breaking into the room he was in.

"Get away from me! Get back! Help! HELPPP!" The microphone cut off while the man sounded like he was being brutally murdered, which was the last straw for me as I stood up from my desk.

Apparently, the rest of the class had the same idea as they went into full panic mode, running out of the room while I was being pushed to the side from the entire class trying to squeeze their way through the door.

It was complete chaos after that, everyone became more violent as well, fighting each other just so that they could leave the building first. Some people were even trampled and badly injured.

I knew that it would happen.

Once they had all gotten through the door and began running down the hall, there was two people left inside of the room aside from me.

Rei Miyamoto and Kohta Hirano.

My girlfriend was standing in the corner, her eyes locked onto mine. I could tell that she was scared and confused as to what was even happening. Kohta, on the other hand, was hiding under his desk while using it like some kind of shield from reality or something.

"W-What just happened, Dante...?" Rei quietly murmured, walking over to me before wrapping herself around my left arm.

"You heard what the guy said. Some people were killed at the front gate of the high school. Let's get the fuck out of here. Kohta, come on! We're leaving this place!"

He quickly crawled out from under his horrible hiding spot, scrambling over to our position before all three of us made our way outside of the classroom and down the hall.

I stopped walking once the sound of glass breaking and multiple screams reached my hearing range. The zombies must've finally gotten inside of the school building.

Making a quick decision, I traversed the halls until we eventually ended up at a woodwork classroom, which would no doubt hold a few useful tools that could get us by for a while. At least until we could get our hands on some real weapons.

I slid the door closed once the two behind me walked in as well. Kohta went over towards a shelf on the other side of the room that held a bunch of boxes filled to the brim with different supplies.

Rei decided to check through the teachers desk, attempting to look through every single drawer in case there was anything useful for us.

There was a rack on the wall next to me, which carried a plethora of tools that could be used in one way or another. My eyes landed on the one at the end that was a fairly simple choice. However, it would get the job done either way in any case.

A crowbar. You couldn't go wrong with one. It was lightweight, especially with my superior strength that made it feel almost weightless in my hand. Plus, it had two ends that could easily fuck up a zombie big time. To be honest, I didn't really feel like I actually needed a weapon because I'm pretty sure I could get by just fine with my own skills, but I had to seem like a somewhat normal person for the rest of the group.

Not to mention, what if there was different variations of zombies? I had only thought of the walking ones so far. It had never even crossed my mind.

Walking over to the door, I peeked my head out when I heard the sound of sluggish footsteps coming towards our direction. My eyes landed on an undead student, their school outfit torn in multiple places while parts of their body had already begun to decompose.

Rei and Kohta had come up behind me, peeking their heads out as well before making exclamations of shock, horrified of what they were currently looking at as it shambled it's way down the hall.

"What the hell is that thing?!" Kohta harshly whispered, reeling back at the sight of it.

Unfortunately, the zombie seemed to hear him, which caused it to start walking directly towards us as the walking corpse groaned.

I glanced back at them, noticing that Kohta was now carrying some type of modified nail gun that had a sight along with a few other things added to it. That was pretty impressive for something that he had to think of on the spot.

Rei held onto a digging bar that had a pointed end while the other side possessed a flat surface. However, most likely due to her knowledge on Sōjutsu, she was using it as a spear for extra range.

I had a feeling that some of the things in that room weren't really needed to teach that class. It's okay, though, considering it gave Rei a pretty good weapon.

"Guys, I think these ugly shitheads rely entirely on their hearing. Did you notice how it only reacted when it heard your voice, Kohta? Once I take this one out, it would be our best bet if all three of us kept the volume down to a minimum. Understood?" I ordered, naturally taking the leadership role.

They both nodded as I snuck out of the room, making sure to stay quiet as I slowly walked towards the cannibalistic monster, my grip tightening around the crowbar held in one hand.

The zombie was still moving in Kohta's direction, not realizing that I had circled right behind it. A split second later and I had already reeled an arm back before the crowbar came swinging in from the side, viciously tearing a path straight through it's rotten head until it pierced the mushy brain hiding inside of it's skull.

It dropped down to the ground without much hesitation after that, going completely limb on the tiled floor.

'Take that, bitch!'
